Brian, those Gainclone seems to be pushing hard to move the Titan II, you must have great music there, I´m sure. On my side I think that I´m going in this occasion to take the route of the horn speakers and if I´m lucky I think that I´m near of getting a good pair.

I´ve been reading a while ago the last TAS review of the GoldenEar Triton Seven, I wonder if you have listened this speaker and if so I´d like to know how you compare it with the Triton II. The review say wonders of the Seven.

The truth is that I still have to think on what speakers to choose. Along the years, I´ve experienced different kind of speakers like monitors, electrostatics, classic Tannoy or the last VR-9SE. The ones that I never had are horns and I am quite curious about it. Of course they are in other price league but perhaps I could find a good opportunity in the  second hand market... who knows!. What seems to be a real bargain are your Titan II, at least for what I read and for what you said about your sound here in the forum. I congratulate you and appreciate your information.

Thanks Peter, I´m quite sure there won´t be objective answers to this question and I´m sure also about the best speakers you would suggest . By the way I´m not obliged for VAT.

As I said I´m interested  about what any one could suggest in each category although I am mostly interested in the low budget one.
This could be an idea of what I´m thinking about: Gainclones mono blocks and horn speakers, nothing new isn´t it?. What I don´t know is what horn speakers I could buy for around 6.000€ (second hand), I´m not sure even if horn speakers could be the best choice as I have not experience at all with horn speakers. We all know, however, that horns and Gainclones have a lot of fans here.

For personal reasons I decided to change my system. I will keep my music Pc and the NOS1 but the speakers and amplifiers will be other models. I would like your opinion to build a system that takes the best of the music Pc and the NOS1. Although I personally want to lower the economical level of my system, the possibilities are stratified at three different levels to help also others that could be considering a new system around these two components.

The question is: What are, in your opinion, the best amps and speakers to pair with the Music Pc, (XXHighEnd Pc or other pc), and the NOS1 in the following three levels?*.

- Budget level (up to 10,000€)

- Middle level (from 10,000€ to 20,000€)

- Cost no object level (from 20,000€ and up)

The turn off issue never happened again.

However if I click Alt+S previously to Alt+X, the music stops but the GUI don´t reappear, I have to click Alt+X again to get the GUI.
To have all working normally I have to click first Alt+X and then Alt+S.

I´m always talking at Unattended.

Hi Paul,

I wouldn´t see it as a clash between the Audio Grade PCIe card and the Mapleshade cable, each of them can make improvements (or not) and can be complementary (or not) as any other components that we tested. Both are priced almost the same $135 the cable and $129 the card. Maybe someone has in mind to try both.

You are right Peter, I was wrong with your settings. With SFS 4 (Max 120), 0.5ms and Q5:3 the music I listened so far seems simply different, a big change, the bass is much more tight and the sound seems a little on the dry side compared to your previous settings (mine now), I´d say that it is more in face but with an impressive and realistic presence. It deserves a more careful audition.

I do not want to forget Jud as he has the merit of being the first one to bring that cable to the forum. Therefore, thanks Jud.

But I spoke of generosity and so I mentioned to Alain. He had two identical cables and gave me one, yes, a gift, zero money, nothing. In exchange for what then? We developed a friendship based on emails in which we talk about our systems, about the snow in Canada or the sun in Spain and of course about some other personal things. A great guy this Alain and always exquisitely friendly.

Taking advantage that today is Sunday and I feel happy I would like to thank someone else, but not just for the cable in this case but for a sense of permanent companionship. Thanks to the XXHighEnd forum in general because it is the place where we all fit in equal, those who know much with those who know less, those with sophisticated systems and those with a more simple system. For me still the best settings are SFS 4 (Max 4) with clock at 1ms and Q5=5. The new settings from Peter SFS 120 (Max 360) 0.5ms sounds here with a too big and booming bass. The Anthony (acg) settings sound very similar to mine (which are Peter´s previous ones) but contrarily to Anthony the bass seems tighter and with some more presence, not big differences however, as I say.

Peter, when you say that you use SFS max at 360 to avoid restart the PC does it means that you have ON the PC all the time?.

Thanks to to generosity of Alain I´m using now a Mapleshade Clearlink Plus USB 2.0 cable to connect the PC, via the PCIe USB 3.0 card, to the NOS1. I can confirm some other´s opinion about this cable: The sound is clearer and smoother compared to the standard USB2.0/3.0 cables. Let me repeat it, the sound is CLEAN , it seems like that there is no other noise than the music. It doesn´t hide any change made in the software or hardware, on the contrary those changes are even more evident. It is a pleasure to listen music with this cable, thanks Alain!
