as Peter said to make it works PA needs to be disabled but at the same time thatīs a shame because the SQ is worse.

Hi Juan,

I am sure it will be a language problem or symantics otherwise, but no way I will have said or will ever say something like "hey dude, to make it work, just disengage Phase Alignment - Done !". No way.

I am sure you don't meant to express it like this, but again language or symantics make at least me read it like this.

So ... not using Phase Alignment will help, but no way I advise it as the solution. I hope this is clear !

Regards,
Peter

Yes Peter, you're right, my words can lead to confusion, I fully understand that disabling the PA was not your recommendation to solve the problem and that you simply said that it happens (sometimes) only with Phase Alignment engaged. That was a bad interpretation of your words from my side, sorry.

... Iīll disable the page file and see if it solves the problem.

Juan

Some people have asked me how to disable the page file. Please follow these steps:

Go to Control Panel>System and Security>System>Advanced system settings>Advanced>Performance, click on Settings...>Advanced>Virtual Memory, click on Change...> uncheck the box Automatically manage paging file...and check No paging file, click on Set> Ok, Ok and reboot the PC.

It solved the problem at least with an album (Anita Baker-Sweet Love. 96kHz/768kHz) and so far I havenīt found more problems on this regard. So disabling the page file seems to have solved the problem here.

Thanks Peter and Brian, tomorrow (now is late here) Iīll disable the page file and see if it solves the problem.

Hi Juan!

I have just tried without Playback Drive and SFS=1 , Q1=7
It is just the same, not working. Maybe my PC is to slow?

I`m playing with SFS=4, Q1=14, that is working without stops

Tore

Hi Tore,

Yes thatīs the problem, without Playback drive the stops are there, as Peter said to make it works PA needs to be disabled but at the same time thatīs a shame because the SQ is worse. If your PC is slow mine is slow too because once in a while I also have that same problem. I wonder if the ones with the fastest PC have also this problem.

I`m playing with 09z-8-2  and the sound is Fantastic.

But music often stops when i start playing and when i press next song. Then i get this message:
Playback stopped because data didn`t arrived in time

Tore

Hi Tore,

Does it happen when you use the Playback drive also or only when you play music directly from your music hdd?.

In my case it only happens when I play music directly from the hdd where I have the music files stored. If I play with Phase Alignment disengaged as Peter suggests there are occasional stops for a short space of time but also and more important the SQ is worse than with PA engaged. In my opinion the best SQ is with PA engaged and playing directly from the hdd where the music is stored, I mean not using any Playback drive at all (neither Galleries), but this way there are that stops. If that could be fixed using my present Q1:7 x xQ1:1 x 4096 setting that would be a step ahead in SQ.

Juan
741  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9z-8-2 (Windows 7) on: February 25, 2013, 05:46:48 pm
After playing with both W8 and W7 with 0.9z-8-2 I agree with some others here. The sound seems to be clearer and more coherent in the new W7. On the contrary the sound in W8 seems fuller but in comparison with W7 it appears a little blurred, or better said, with some lack of exactitude in the placement of the instruments and voices. I perceive the same effect of misplacement or perhaps maybe it is just less sharpness when using Balanced Load=85 in W7.

With BL=43 the sound seems to have more precision and although some times seems to be a little dry it depends on the album; as in some albums the sound is beautifully smooth I believe that at BL=43 it reproduces with more fidelity what really is in the recording.

So far no problems at all (stops, etc.).

I donīt know about the whole PayPal process but it is not a problem of how quick you (Peter) makes the refund, it is a problem of by what means you make the payment. If you charge the payment directly to your bank account, PayPal needs a confirmation from the bank that the money is really there, and although PayPal accept the payment in advance, to refund it, PayPal needs to receive first the money from the bank and that is what takes 14 labor days, (Iīm talking about banks in other countries than USA) . On the other hand if you pay with Visa, or another credit card, the whole process is much faster perhaps because Visa warrants the payment to PayPal.

Thanks Peter, Iīll install W7 in a partition of the same hdd where W8 is and Iīm going to compare each other.

Btw, to get a refund asp when you pay with PayPal you must pay with your credit card, this way only takes one or two days to get the refund, if you pay charging it in your bank account it takes 14 labor days to get your money back, at least here in Spain.

744  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Installing again W7. The Activation code and the Phasure driver on: February 19, 2013, 12:41:21 pm
Hi Peter,

In order to install the last XX version (XXHighEnd Model 0.9z-8-2) I have to make a clean W7 installation because I formatted the hdd where the OS (W7) and XX were when I installed W8, so I lost everything there. I didnīt want to have both systems and like others I thought that W8 was the way to go.

Now Iīm thinking to format the hdd where now is W8 and XX to install again W7 (and XX).

What Iīd like to know is:

- In this situation is there any way to use a previous Activation Code?

- Whatīs the version I must use of the Phasure driver with W7, the old one or the new one that I used with W8 (v1.0.3.)?

Best regards,
Juan

Hi Paul,

In your signature you have this:  PA=ON *-ve*. What does that -ve mean?.

Do you have actualized your signature, donīt you have stops?. I ask it because you have the same processor/configuration as me.

Juan

So, here is my "pop up" :

Sound is now plainly nothing less than superb.
Do you hear ? grazy

Look at my sig as per the 5th of February 2013 and notice the ** denotations, indicating which parameters were changed compared to my previous settings (like I do it always with these **).
Yep, including SFS=2, meaning : I just tried that to be on the most nasty side possible, but it is not nasty. Not anymore and not at all. Never tried higher as of now.

Hi Peter, congratulations for your sound. Would you please explain certain things that I donīt understand in your signature?. Sorry if you already have explained part or the whole of it before, in such a case please drive me where the information is. Things are getting more and more complicated with W8, now even with the power supply. What Iīd like to know for now as detailed as possible is:

- XX on 1GB RAMDisk (IMDisk). How to create that RAMDisk (IMDisk). What is IMDisk?. So far XX was in the same drive than the OS.

- music through WiFi somewhere and somehow. So far WiFi was prohibited due to interference. Please could you explain it further?. How do you receive the music and how you manage the music you receive by WiFi?.

-  Minimize OS. So, definitively you use Minimize OS?.

Juan

Hi Peter, no problem, youīre right I should know certain technical things, the problem is that my educational background in Art and Literature don't help very much on this regard. When I discovered XXHE I had to learn how to build a computer, I did it and Iīm glad that what I learnt helped others to build their systems. Unfortunately it doesnīt mean that I know further than clicking here or there to get the best possible sound. Thatīs not a justification but I claim also for the right of the less technical savvy to enjoy XX which is today, in my already long experience as audiophile, the best way to get first class sound. The problem for all of us, but even more for the people like me, is that XX is always evolving and has to be adapted also to a new version of Windows every so often. Please be patient with me, Iīll do my best to keep learning.

Returning to the settings, to avoid stops now Iīve changed with good results to SFS: 32 and up. Experimenting.

Best regards,
Juan

Today I played several albums with lPhase deactivated and I havenīt had the stops problem. If I activate lPhase the stops return. So at least in my system it looks related with the lPhase.

These are the messages I receive when the sound stops:

Set sample rate
Failed to set sample rate

Fail!
Engine #4 did not start within the expected time !

XXEngine3.exe
XXEngine3.exe has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.

The Output device #4 Engine doesnīt respond and I have to  reboot XX, after this reboot when I try to activate #4 Engine this is the message that appears:

Check Engine Settings
Phase Aligment will be deactivated. OK

Once I click Ok lPhase is deactivated and #4 Engine works again. This way, playing with the lPhase unclicked there are no more stops.
