Hey Peter,

I sent an email for the Win 10 build 14393.0 download (the "smaller" revised version)... ?

Thanks,

Alain

Hi Peter,

Is the "smaller" version available through the link we received by email the first time ?

And thanks for all the trouble you go through to fill the holes that our friends at MS put from one version to the other. It must not be fun to spend so much time just to work around bugs...

Sorry for the confusion in my choice of words. It can be complicated sometime to correctly identify something.

I mean "See the desktop", with the icons, the taskbar, XXHE coming back into view. It just stays "empty" and then I am ejected from the RDC session but now necessarily with an error message. It just shows the window to access RDC like when we click on the RDC application the first time.

By "Reset", I mean a "hot start". Apart from the Power button on the audio PC, I also have a "Reset" button and it skips the shutdown sequence. Something I will use only when the PC seems frozen.

I have checked the Power options. There does not seem to be as many options as there was before, but I will go back in BASE and Normal OS mode first to check this and report back.

I return the compliment Peter Happy True it sounds wonderful at 16ms. In this hobby, it is important to have the "experimental fiber" and never take all for granted...

Peter,

I was wondering if the buffer (in Phasure Control Panel) is at 16ms on purpose ?

Thanks,

Alain
51  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Unattended with ram-os drive (Windows 8 and 10). on: August 14, 2016, 05:29:51 pm
I have attempted quite a few times to play in unattended mode (mostly in RAM, I don't recall doing it in BASE OS Minimized). In my setting the "Persist" is ON with the LAN.

As long as I do not shut the RDC window on my Server PC, I have no trouble, but if I close it, I can't get back to the desktop view.

Sometimes it shows something but it looks like it is taking long enough to bring me back to the RDC opening window. Some othet time, it will not do anything. I simply press the "Reset" button to start a new Windows session and leave my RDC window either open or I do not use unattended mode.

This seems to be happening no matter the OS I use (BASE or RAM mode), in Minimized OS.

Since I do not detect any difference (audible difference), it is not a big concern for me, but I was wondering if there is something I am missing ?

Regards,

Alain

I should play more with some options... I have never attached any importance on covers... That may explain why my girlfriend finds some of my components... Of discutable taste aesthetically speaking Wink But I am sure this is not an unknown issue whistle

Peter,

I always wonder how you can relate the sound of a previous version such as Windows 7 compared to a very recent version, but I trust your reports as I know that when you do (report), you have a method that has so often proven to be right.

I am excited too about this and I may even "scr*p" my experiences with Windows 8, but for the moment I will leave it on the disk. My 3 OSes (apart from the TEST version, build 14388) will be the ones I play with for a while, but you define the different attributes so well, it incites me to go "with the pack" if I can express things this way.

So I will put accent on this new version and yes it is well weighted in the LF, but man are those highs an incitative to smile !!!! It almost brings the sunshine to the grey weather we have her (but at least it is not hot and humid as it has been last week).

I hope that more will weight in to report their findings, but the percussions... It is mad Happy

Golden Earring "Radar Love" is in a league in itself with all those percussions. I feel crazy...

Peter,

I know how to remove it, at least I think. For the moment I am in RAM mode so I am not sure if it will not be there even if I save the changes on drive, but it is just a leftover...

Alain,

I cannot change the date and time (BASE, normal OS mode) since it requires NOT to have the administrator privilege.

Possibly you mean via the normal clicking on the date/time ?
I never even attempt that because it usually does not work anyway - certainly not in MinOS. So I always start a command prompt and apply
date [enter]
I just tried it ... works for 14393.0 just the same ...

Peter
Yes, my attempt was through the date on the taskbar...

I don't know why I stopped doing this through the command prompt. I will follow that path from now on.

There is a picture in XXHE, maybe an album cover or something else ?

Alain, Do you mean some left over of my own situation over here ?

Thanks,
Peter
It sould be (a leftover), but since I never play with images, it is probably easy to remove it if someone is used to it ? For the moment, it is not a concern for me (just an observation).
58  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / ram-os drive, XXHE v2.06b, Windows 10 build 14393.0 on: August 14, 2016, 03:55:04 pm
I just installed the Win 10 build 14393.0 as offered by Peter through download.
http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=3683.msg39307#msg39307

With first listenings, as Peter mentions, there is lots of HF and the percussions are more lively and this is how I like it !

The only drawback I could see is that some voices may be a little more on the "edgy" side, but I will need to compare with Win 10 build 10586.0 and Windows 8.

As for the bass (LF), since I am still discovering the "goodies" from my recently upgraded NOS1a and I have noticed more presence and weight in that register, it is harder for me to report.

The percussions... They seem more lively and present ? Am I imagining this ?

I have created a new topic here instead:

Peter,

The increasing in size went fine.

Then I accessed the audio PC locally with a keyboard, mouse and monitor.

The NEW file creation in the "Boot into" menu also went fine. Modified the titles with "BASE" on the BASE option and did a few "Refresh" (to get more familiar only) and even closed the menu to restart it.

Accessing now through RDC...

Allowed the share of the music drive that sits on the Server PC.

Creation of shortcuts on the desk (icons) for:
- "All Control Panel Items".
- "This PC".

As prescribed, I did not add them on the taskbar.

I cannot change the date and time (BASE, normal OS mode) since it requires NOT to have the administrator privilege.

Made all the adjustments on XXHighEnd.

Works fine Happy

Going in Minimized OS mode now.
There is a picture in XXHE, maybe an album cover or something else ? I thought it has disappeared with Minimize OS but it is still there.

It seems to load longer when accessing (through RDC), but is OK. I did not check this through local connection (in Minimized OS).

Sound is very nice and "full". I will need to compare (this will take some time). But I like it Happy

In RAM it plays fine too Happy I will play with it for a while now Happy

Regards,

Alain
