Been stuck with headphones for the last month... I am about to explode ! I am eager to listen through my "boxes" instead Happy

Now playing with Peter's parameters, apart from adjusting some trimpots to not have any hiccups... NOS1 buffer at 12ms, Q1 at 14, SFS at 0.1... Still there is a small problem when one song overlap with another (there is an hesitation), but no click...

Peter,

If you ever listen to Roberta Flack again, it would be interesting to know at what time that guitar that we suddenly hear, which tells us we have reached a sweet spot ?

Whenever you can of course...

Thanks,

Alain

Yes I understand... I am not myself at ease with this, as if I am walking in a minefield...

I wonder if leaving the black wire attached and putting a resistance on it could have a positive effect ?

Alain

PS: If I understand correctly (if...): putting a resistance will not allow the easy flow of a different electrical potential, but it will still allow it to pass if that difference is too important ?
456  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXHE 1.186a on Win7 - what went wrong? on: February 23, 2014, 02:38:22 pm
Thanks Peter, I reverted it and all is fine Happy

Edit: I can assure you that the ramdisk (the batch file that I originally wrote) is OK, but I don't use the START line (I just added it last year, but like you mentionned, I find more practical to decide when I will start XXHE)...
457  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XXHE 1.186a on Win7 - what went wrong? on: February 23, 2014, 12:51:06 pm
Went back in Normal mode. It does the same (exception error)... It does not keep the "C:" parameter in the XXDATA settings (from the physical XXHE)... I restarted the PC a few times, but nothing changes...

Hi Peter,

When reading about the LAN I downloaded the file.

When I start XXHE from RAM, it says "XXDATA folder created" and it is created in the A: ramdrive. it was not doing this before. So I exited XXHE, then started the physical XXHE and entered "C:" again (it was gone). Restarted the PC, but the same messag e keeps repeating each first time of a session in ramdrive, as if it does not keep the "C:" info in Settings anymore... And it does not...

The second problem I have happens when I want to access the music directory. As soon as I press "L" an "unhandled exception" error pops up and (it's written in French here - sorry) and asks if I want to continue or quit. There are no details. It ends with a "Reference to an object can't be identified to an instance of that object" - something like this (translated).

Well... I tried this morning and it happened too. I adjusted the NOS1 buffer to 4ms and the SFS to .3 and it seemed to have stopped. But I will have to test this a little more...

BTW, it's not that I don't experiment... But I know that you are so meticulous, patient and better than I to judge about SQ that I find easy to follow your parameters... Happy

Hi Brian,

That is fantastic Happy It was refreshing to read, especially after some posts that were... Well, tinted with a touch of negativity (on CA)...

Anyway, I am happy that someone could discover what we have been discovering for a few years now (and are continuing to discover) Happy

Could it be an environment variable that is not correct ? Maybe send to Brian a small script that simply display them in a text file and ask him to open and print in a post ?

Someting like
Set > xxenv.txt

Peter,

I am ok with what you say. I know that you have a lot more experience about teaching to all of us about the necessary details in the interest of all.

Yet I have to add that all I did has always been not in my only interest, but in the interest of the many.

In final, I certainly hope that Brian has not been too puzzled with the difference in our respective explanations... and I hope all will go well for him and of course, for all our colleagues Happy

Now I will go outside to remove some snow and swear a little just to evacuate my frustration (joke) Happy

Regards,

Alain

Hi Peter,

Hum... I would be a little confused if I was not computer savvy Wink

I don't see anything in Brian's batch file that would be odd...

The only thing I can say is that when I go in XXHE settings the first time (the physical XXHE of course), I specify that XXDATA is C:\XXDATA (if this makes sense with the situation). So anything that is saved in XXDATA will be saved on the physical XXDATA (aka C:\XXDATA)...

Also the command line:
START A:\%XXHE%\XXHighEnd.exe

I prefer not to have it started automatically, even if this implies a second operation.

What I do to prevent this is put a "REM" in the beginning of the line, like this:
REM START A:\%XXHE%\XXHighEnd.exe
"REM" means that this line will not execute.

Then I go in the A: drive and in the XXHE folder to get the xxhighend.exe program and bring it on the desktop as a shorcut.

Then I rename that icon to "XXHE RAM", so I know that each time I select this shortcut, it is the version in ram...

About the settings not being replicated for the next session, Peter answered it with this post: http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=2890.msg30475#msg30475

I just hope this helps.... But really I don't see anything wrong with the batch file... (sorry Peter, but it works perfectly here)

Alain

EDIT: Not much snow has fallen (maybe 4 inches), but the expressways are not as easy as usual... Took me almost double time to get to work... 2 feet of snow are announced at some places, but luckily not here ! Fiewwww...

Happy But did you notice if it was colder than usual ? I guess not, since all fall into water.... No chemtrails in the upper atmosphere ? Happy If you have only 2 weeks of winter left, you are lucky. I still think of at least 4-6 weeks...
465  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: W7 and 1.186 issues. Related??? on: February 14, 2014, 04:42:39 am
Ah... Sorry for the late reply... If your batch file is on the desktop (this will work also if it is a shortcut), here is what you could do:
- Right-click on it and a menu will appear.
- In that menu there will be either an "Edit" or a "Modify"
- Click on either and the file should expand, showing its contents.
- Hold the CTRL key and while keeping it pressed, press "A" once. it should hilight the whole file
- Right-click and then select "Copy"

Finally, opening a "Reply" here, you can paste it either with a right-click and "Paste".

I will be able to see if there is something to adjust.

Sorry for the delays. Sometimes I use Teamviewer to connect on someone's PC. Maybe one day we will have a "Phasure squad" to do this Happy

Alain
PS: Yes I have a snowblower - I use it to clean some corners and alleys, but for the driveway, someone comes with his snowplow, otherwise it would take at least a few hours each time...  Strangely, it has been quite cold this year, but we are having less snow than average... For the moment...
