A little complication happened... I was able to minimize the OS yesterday, but had to leave. Now I am trying to reconstitute how this happened, because now I am stuck in Minimize OS, while XXHE is not available on the system anymore. I know that there is a hole in my description, because it's impossible that I could go in Min OS, but then have no trace of XXHE anymore since...

I will reinstall a backup and go again through the conversion process.

I did some test yes, but I also ran into problems - like unattended not working anymore in Minimized OS... So I finally came back to W8 plain vanilla...

Can't we ask MS to put out its version 13 already ? At least it would ensure that we have stability for the next 15 years

On the other hand, if v13 has support for odors, maybe XXHE will have to be deeply modified, with different nose schemes...

When is ADN specific XXHE scheduled for ?

Well, after playing with the recommended "DAC to power amp", I finally had afterthoughts and decided to bring back the subs that I had removed. That means I had to put back the preamp in the chain too.

Among other things, removing the subs was decided because I could not get rid of a grunge that I could perfectly hear in the main speakers.

I know now that if I put the power amp back on protective earth, this grunge disappears.

So this is the actual status:
- With power amp AC ground lifted I don't have the original ground loop noise, but the subs make noise.
- With power amp AC grounded (normal), I don't have the grunge from the subs, but then the original ground loop comes back.

This is not obvious...

Hi Juan,

I know a technician that told me W8 does not seem to work as fast as W7. While W8 boots faster, it looks as if it processes a little slower.

As for 8.1... I have the feeling it will be a PITA, since we all have seen Peter struggling to "extract" the best of w8.

Another struggle in sight...

Well I had more time this evening to test with SFS = 4. I can say now that there is more LF presence but in a good way. I always have found my woofers to be "shy" in the LF department, but now I am not so sure. I have read that these speakers often got the label "fast" and I tend to feel it that way. The cones almost have no excursion and the tones are very present (still in the LF area). But now I can hear them more - what to say ? I like what I hear...
