1  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: S/PDIF Cable on: February 17, 2010, 07:21:50 pm
You're right why hastle, I thought there're higher quality cables in 50Ohm (RG214) but ok, then these are only better at higher frequencies than the 2.8MHz, we're using.
It wouldn't have made a difference to just use 50Ohm resistors instead of the 75Ohm ones, that's why I thought "just try"^^.
I'll try some RG59 then, with 0.1% 75Ohm resistors Happy

2  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: S/PDIF Cable on: February 17, 2010, 07:03:09 pm
I'm currently 'designing' the digital inputs of my new dac and the outputs of my sources (mainly the M-Audio FW interface of course^^) and it struct me, why not use lab-like cables for the SPDIF signal like Aircell 5 or RG58/RG214. Well I'll try this.
My question is, are there different BNC plugs for 50Ohm and 75Ohm? Or is it one and the same?

Thank you! smile
Ok sound still plays.
Wanted to test if any sounds come on, but can't think of a way to induce a windows error (nothing fatal) to test it.
4  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / shut off Windows sounds completely on: January 30, 2010, 03:29:28 pm
Did a quick search, but weren't able, or to dump, to find something useful.

I'd like to shut off all(!)  sound including all Windows sounds (currently Win7 Professional) during playback, is there a way to make sure all are shut off?

Thanks for any suggestions

Ok first reply this night, more tomorrow.

"...little informative..." ... you're kidding me right!?

Good job ! still have to this over sleeping .

Still impresses me, which endless stories you can write, which strangely won't make me stop reading, although(and thank God) they're greatly detailed!

Please don't chivvy yourself.
We all know that that kind of work takes time, time we all want you to invest.
We're just anxiously waiting for things you might come up with.
And if I may say that, there are very few things that are not worth waiting for that you allways come up with!

So DON'T chivvy yourself!

Oh and news about something like the PNOS1 is allways interesting to follow!

PS: this running from that "secret" smiley is an official "add". You can see it when you're writing something. There's a moving "M" with an arrow. You just have to mark the things you want to let move, and click it. There you go^^

I think that this would be much harder to accomplish. The structures  are much more complex, well this is analog and not 1s and 0s. But this would be truly awesome. Do remember that there is a laser operating LP digitalizer which some national archives already use,as I can remember. Ava
