Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Bass Issue (Lack thereof)

I've seen this issue with the older version of W8, while sequentially comparing 2 pairs of speakers with a particular pair of speaker cables (this was used because of convenience) a while back. I know both demonstrate that same low frequency on a pair of different cables, surprisingly one did, and the other didn't with this new cable. Of note, DAC and XXHE was not rebooted when switching speakers.

Hi,
No. of questions and opinions, thanks all!!
@Arvind: Latest speakers are the HHR TLS-IIs. Single driver design. Unfortunately they are power/current hungry.... 200w minimum.
@acg: class D will not work. I think it has to do with what the amp can't do outside the listening band. Learnt it the hard way with nCores.
@CoenP: You are indeed correct, if I did have to do it allover again i'll think of horns, but they require a lot of work (a lot of work) to get it to this point. Thanks for the tip on the titans, but I'm looking for personal experience regarding synergy of amps and XXHE/NOS1
@jud: I use NOS1, and spectral system will be more complicated with their design philosophy!
Hopefully Peter has something up his sleeve that will work for me.
Regards, VJ

Hi, There has been a lot of discussions about gain clones, but my current speakers require >/= 300W of power (high current) to play comfortably. My journey into high powered amps did not go well with class D, which recently seems to have progressively worsened from W7 to W8.
I know there has been some very good success with Sanders Magtech amps. But a few additional choices will be very appreciated.

Peter, I did try that at first, but most have changed that to the newer version. I don't blame them, probably better anyways. Just brings up to the subject of me upgrading, which I should soon ..... Regards, VJ

Ok got it going, after a frustrating afternoon, figured out the wrong USB port on the PC. Who knew what a pint of beer could do for problem solving Regards, VJ P.s it would still help to have at least on set of parameters somewhere here on the form for reference!

Hi, looks like everyone has moved to the newer software version. Does anyone have their old settings so I can restart my program? I ended up playing XXhE without turning on the NOS, and XXHE selected a default device, and some how I never saved a working preset Now I'm getting ticks with FIFO errors Kind regards, vJ

Hi Peter, Looks like its on my part. I thought that the digital volume level will only work in minimize OS mode (I had to get XXHE to get the right term) running. Just tired it, and seems to work in the non-minimize OS mode. Regards, VJ

Peter, My apologies, I didn't have the XXHE interface in front of me, and could not remember the exact terminology. Should I say attend/unattended (in both) modes. Remember I'm still on 06.... Regards, VJ

Peter, One thing that will make the new version attractive is the possibility of using the preamp/line stage section in the base mode. It will give and others to completely eliminate the preamp from the start. Regards, VJ

Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Need guidance to reinstall W7
|
on: August 10, 2012, 03:26:51 pm

Hi all, I have the XXHE, and other program files on a ss dive, music on a spinning disk on the same computer. I have been plagued by intermittent ticks during playback. So finally I have decided to reinstall XXHE per Peters recommendation. I have a few question - 1. Will I loose all the music on the spinning disc if I reinstall W7, since it's connected to the same motherboard? If so then I'll have to transfer it to a external HD. 2.Do I have to save xxhe and programs like dB power amp on an external HD as well? 3. Any one with a particular set of steps, that works best to reinstall W7?
Kind regards, Vj

Hi, I've been using the XXHE for sometime now, but I'm unable to view or add cover art. If any of you could walk me through the process, it would be much appreciated. Kind Regards, VJ
