Peter,
 thankyou thankyou

So how I would look into your explanation is, there are less or none  higher order harmonics to give us the cues for loudness, detecting notes edges. Smoothness .....

I forgot to add in my prior post a couple of additional things

Music has a better sense of control with this cable. (Maybe a combination of this and the above gives that truncation effect)

Bass: Aqvox was better than the standard cable. Clarixia has more bass than AQvox.

Small update,

So in the first hour, the cable had a bit of constriction/darkness which opened up thereafter. There was a bit of harshness on the highs only noticeable on multi-violin crescendos, which I could not detect last night. The Clarixia is a bit more forward in presentation than the AQvox. Smoothness very very similar. Sound stage width is the same. AQvox seems to have a deeper soundstage. In the last few days with AQvox I thought I detected a subtle digitiz/zing around the notes. This is not present with the Clarixia.

With the Clarixia I though the highs were truncated (I don't think it's the cable) I'm still using the custom filter. Maybe Peter May be able to explain?

I Hope to compare them head to head today.

Cheers,
VJ

FYI
Human hearing is is 20-20k, yes.
20k hearing is only for babies or newborns, that too at a very loud level.
Adults can't hear beyond 15K .... I suppose most listening champs tune out by 13-14K
Maybe you can feel the music Wink

In the last few months after my interesting experience with YFS cable, I was able to try out few more.

Here is the list so far
1. PeterST's world famous $1 cable: nothing much to say on this one except it's/was the gold standard.
2. Oyaide d+ "S" : a POS. actually this was the cable that made me believe USB cables have no influence on music, I was so far in the naysayers catagory. However during the Blaxius development I got a bit more open minded.
3. YFS ref cable (silver coated copper): this opened my ears to possibilities to USB sound (I'm happy in many ways Peter did see the diamond in the dust, I was referring to)
4. YFS custom cable (Cu only), more smother than the now on tour ref cable. Still it did not work for me. The soundstage just collapsed into a 5ft bubble. Gotta give my huge huge thumbs up to Kevin at YFS, customer service at its best, kudos buddy.
5. Prana wire Photon: this cable worked fine, but did not substantiate its cost, especially coming from the YFS cable, where I found such a startling difference.
6. AC cable: only after playing with this cable for a few weeks did I realize it could not withstand the need from Phasure system, and found it was limited to 196/24. Mani ....   ;-)
7. Aqvox: my current favorite. It has been in my system for the last month. More thoughts and differences to come ...
Sound of Clarixia is similar, but there are some differences. I'll listen for some more time before I concrete my impressions.

Just received my Clarixia cable!

So far I have about an hour, and the cable is very smooth. As Peter mentions, you can play louder with this cable.

good

Johacim,

One explanation could be that the USB cable has no deleterious effect in your system.
Otherwise it could be related to grounding, some kind of filtering happening either at the speaker or crossover level.

Well,
It's been a few months since I auditioned the YFS cable, and most is from memory. Keeping things in timeline perspective is difficult. Few other USB cables have come across b/w then and now. The cable tour took way longer that originally planned. Overall intent was for all to know USB makes a easily noticeable difference, and to see its performance with different setups.
What I remember was that the sound was "wow" initially, totally 3D, and on listening longer, I.e. More than an hour or so continuously, the sound would change, with harshness and collapse of the sound stage. Then totally unbearable. So I thought about Di-electric relaxation.
Experiences so far indicate this cable has a hard time integrating with high efficiency horn speakers. Horns avoid a bunch of distortion a inherent in dynamic come drivers (not that it's doesn't have in own issues). Tube act like filters to a certain degree. Something along the audio chain is either reducing or counteracting the distortion in some setups, or the issue may not even exit elsewhere.

The possibility of the amps not being fast enough though I think is a bit off. The slew rate is somewhat of a hyperbole, just another indicator of the amplifiers band width. The slew rate if I remember right for amps in the Oreleos are more than adequate for audio reproduction as Hi-Fi. Oreleos have the best thought out configuration with individual amplifiers for separate channels, therefore reducing the load per driver during peak demand. Just as a side note here, the amplifiers power rating is for reproducing a particular note, power goes down to more than half if another note is added. How about music huh with complex notes ..?
**edit**: That is why amplifiers sound different. They are clipping at one point or another. Technically speaking, if operated well within their power rating, all amps should sound exactly the same. This again brings in the point that TDH is just a small part of the equation. There are a few other related factors, but this is good for now.

Peter,
I think you explained the phenomenon in one of your earlier post very very well!
The increased SNR was my initial impression!
What this cable is doing to the "all Phasure" setup is adding higher odd order harmonics, which are cues for loudness. So this gives the apparent sensation of increased dynamics, that is why you were listening to the cable 6db below what you are on the Clarixia. Therefore the apparent increase in SNR, when details shout out. Took me a while to get this figured out,  ..... I.e.10 hrs Happy

With lower distortion you should be able to listen louder without you ears telling you it's such!!

VJ

Mani,
The more I listen to different USB cables, the more I feel there are way too many variables to keep track of. I have a pretty good idea where YFS cables may shine, Or fail miserably. A lot will have to do with distortion, it's exaggeration or dimunision. Cables act like conduits or to a certain degree tonal manipulators I.e. Increasing or decreasing distortion.

YFS cable did not work  for me as well, may be it had to do with the above, or a whole host of unavoidable variables in  hifi .. ......
But, I had it for at least 10 hours before I found out the issues,   Lol.... I must have a slower slew rate! Honestly I felt it might have to do with grounding! Who knows?!

Anyways what got me excited was the gain in SNR .... Might seem strange when there is so much distortion, but just generally, proper cable matching will result in at least 6dB gain in SNR. That is just with USB

VJ

Those horns are wrong in multiple levels. The only thing it can do at this point in time is play loud!!

88  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: USB bandwidth on: January 21, 2015, 05:36:47 am
So, this issue arouse because recently all the music was trasferred from a 4TB SSHD to a 6TB spinning disc (5400RMP). A lot of classical music was added to the drive, and was the primary genre for the ears in the last week or so!
Maybe it has to do with the HD data access? As Nick said, the new drive stresses the bandwidth in some fashion?

I'll have to take my words back, spinning is a tad bit better.

Hi Nick,
Interesting points you bring up!
This whole issue arose with the present USB cable, wherein I noticed data sync issues, and dynamic compression. I asked the maufacturer, and he mentioned it was good for only 196/24.

So to all who are looking into USB Cables, consider bandwidth as an important parameter.

The YFS cable is fine, and its tour will continue for now.

After a talk with a manufacturer, I found not all USB cables are the same, most bandwidth limited.
So question is what mb/s is required for 768/32? And can our present USB cables handle it?
