2  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Problem with DDDAC solved with 0.9m-1 on: October 14, 2007, 04:46:03 pm
Talking about the 0.9m-1 version. I have not tested the 0.9m version yet. Normal cpu usage. 5-6 % one one core and almost 0 on the other.

I am using mk2 version of the DDDAC1543.

I have not been able to trigger any cracks or clicks with this version yet at any settings on the Q1 slider.

Problem with ticks and noise with DDDAC and Q1 solved with this version. The sound is incredible clean and airy. I am now able to set the q1 to -3 and -4 without ticks and noise. With the older versions I had some problems with noise even at 20 on q1.

The 0.9h version works like a charm for me. No noise or dropouts. Will try the 14-24 tip. Thanks

Well, I have a quite different experience with the "magic" of Qt. When I increase Qt the sound drops out. Greater number - more dropouts. When I reduce Qt  I am experiencing more noise or "small cracks" in the sound. This is exaxtly what happened with the #track with noise that is not there". Using Vista and a DDDac like before.

Vista baby.

Once the remote desktop is started the usb-dac is magically transformed into a remote playback on the xxhighend computer. I have not been able to find a way to disable this feature. This remote audio playback is new in Vista (I think) and not part of xp system.

Gave up on the terminal service and added WinVNC instead. No problems to control the player but the response is slower than the terminal service. Maby a tip for others who wants to remote control the xxhighend player from a pda or maby a cell phone.

Nope. The pda has pocket pc 2003. No option for the remote playback. In fact there is no selection at all just the ip-adress.

Can not do that on the pdb but I think that the real problem is that the remote playback is started and the speakers (2-USB Audio Dac) is replaced by the Microsoft RDT Audio Transport. I can get Foobar to play via the pda and a terminal service but that only applies when I am using kernel streaming in foobar and not usb audio dac.

Not able to control the xxhighend player from a pda - terminal service client. Program stops and gives error message. Device not support/allow exclusive use.

Sample of a track that I have problems with engine #3. Maby after 15-20 seconds. Btw this is Anders Wimark . Carmen.

Sound from engine #3 now ok. The sound is really really spacious and dynamic. Probably the best I have ever heard. No doubling or upsampling as I am using a 44.1k usb nos dac (dddac). But there seems to be a problem in periods with high dynamics especially piano dynamic. I sometimes get noise or crackles in the sound. Wery little but it is there. I have not noticed this problem with engine #2 and #1. No problems with cpu capacity or memory (2 giga)
