1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: December 08, 2008, 03:16:47 pm
A little update.

I made a simple app to use wasapi exclusive.
And made couple of simple tests.
Closing wasapi gracefully and exiting the app without closing wasapi correctly.

in 100% it showed that PC won't sleep as expected if you exit the app not closing wasapi properly.
and PC goes to sleep if you start and stop playing, exit and start app correctly closing wasapi.

No luck,

backed up file-> put the new 96.dat->reboot-> played media player-> no problem-> played XX-> stopped it-> played media player-> problem's there again(still)

3  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 07, 2008, 11:46:20 am
I tried your scenario with no luck:

reboot->no problem->foobar/wasapi->no problem->XX wasapi-> problems
reboot->no problem->xmplay/wasapi->no problem->XX wasapi-> problems

And yes I am using "true" asio. not asio4all.

And BTW I have 3 audio devices: 2 PCI, 1 USB
Tried all combinations: disconnecting one by one etc.

Is it just me having such problems?

4  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 06, 2008, 06:47:35 pm
Yes it is a single core
5  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 06, 2008, 06:39:04 pm
Another thing:

if I play XMPlay/wasapi, then audio never crackles after xmplay has played.

So it looks like xmplay does not destroy anything in windows audio and handles wasapi differently.

and foobar/wasapi does not cause sounds to break after it has played.

Seems like only XX ruins the audio stack.
6  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 05, 2008, 06:09:55 pm
WASAPI in Xmplay works fine no matter what

but ASIO and standard win32/DS gives crackling all over, after XX has played
7  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: Need Advice - Dedicated PC Build on: November 05, 2008, 05:31:33 pm
Thanks Peter,

So you meant 4 cores, while I had only 2 in mind. It makes sense now.
8  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 05, 2008, 10:28:51 am
One more thing, I think it may be related.

On my single core PC after XX has played at least once, all other windows sounds and sounds from other players are suffering from hiccups and cracks. If I reboot and never start XX all sounds are fine.
9  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / After XX PC won't go to sleep anymore, until reboot on: November 05, 2008, 08:41:37 am
Peter,

If I let XX play its playlist in unattended and finish by itself at least once (when it stops it brings back its frontend), then computer won't go to sleep anymore.

If I stop playing by launching XX frontend and pressing stop button, then it will go to sleep.

Can you please look into that. It is very annoying to wake up in the morning and realize that PC was up all night with its noises, although I expect it to go to sleep mode as I set it up.

BTW in either case PC won't sleep while XX actually playing. That is expected behaviour.

Thanks
Andrey
10  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: Need Advice - Dedicated PC Build on: November 05, 2008, 08:33:11 am
PPS: Do not make the mistake that XX needs the clock cycles. It is the other (environmental) processes which do and which can disturb. Like a disk, a cpu can trash too (for sure a multi core -> dying from overhead at switching shared memory). This is the first thing to avoid. But hey, back in my old days I claimed to better have a 12MHz than an 8 MHz cpu. Now what. swoon

Peter,

what exactly do you mean by "(for sure a multi core -> dying from overhead at switching shared memory)"
Is it bad to have multi-core for XX or not. Can you clarify.

11  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Buttons Shorcut Letters on: October 31, 2008, 11:08:44 am
Hi Peter,

I have a small request.

two buttons "&Play and "&Pause" have the same shortcut letters "&P".
Can you please change the letter for Pause to something else.
I believe it would be a simple change.

Thanks
Andrey

Hi Peter,

you might want to consider this link
http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/windows-vista-sp1-32-bit-mui-language-packs-direct-download-links/

there is an english language pack for vista ultimate.

Ok here is next attempt:

Save it to a single file XXHETweaks.bat and run it.
It includes registry changes inside.
Upon complettion it should say something like:

Making registry changes...

Thank you for the comments and sorry to have confused you with this.
As always - best intentions lead ..... somewhere else Happy
Yes I will do as Peter asked.
But I need time to make it more human friendly this time.

Gerard,

this is all expected behaviour.

First error message is because the last registry key in the reg file won't work.
So you need to disable windows defender manually as Peter described.
I will delete this key from reg file in the above post.

the other errors about Access denied are also expected.
So you need to turn off those data collectors manually again.

The main idea is to do automatically as much as possible, the rest (that give errors) must be done manually.

I am going to update those code snippets.
