Well I've downloaded all required Net 3.5 and just can't get it to load. Reminds me of grief I had before Ram OS.

As I haven't done this for sometime now, is there anything I need to do to make this work?

Peter,
I run a separate disc drive with Netflix, Spotify, google etc for everyday use. Is it possible for me to run the latest XXhighend on this with the current updated W10. I'm not running Ram OS or minimised. Its for background music mainly and my wife(not digitised) to use?

A downgraded version in reality but still sounds better than the other options.

Audiolense is the software. The reviewer seems to have got it working but with J River. The concept is a good one but probably still needs more work. I,m currently reading up on it. I,m looking at trying it with a spare HD which has current W10 on it and Spotify,  Netflix etc. As I run sub woofers it may help with the integration of them. But my room has several problems and this is where I would like to improve the sound.

FWIW (!) : You are talking about the same forum where nobody hears a difference in anything, differences can't even exist while matters you refer to are crucial. Somehow.
To me this seems not to combine at all.

Yes everyday there is less of interest to me on the forums and more even stranger polls keep appearing. What they do with the information is about as good as a political poll, nothing worth while.

Anyway I get your comments. I was interested in your thoughts on this subject. Thanks for that.

I have read both reviews(loudspeakers and integrating subwoofers) of a European software package designed to time align speaker drivers and create a digital crossover to enhance the overall sound in the listening room/environment. By all accounts end result is very worthwhile.

This is on the Computer Audiophile home page. It is interesting reading and something worth experimenting with in my view.

Has anyone played with this kind of software on the Phasure forums?

Is it possible for this to work with XXhighend?

The room/speaker interface is critical in my view especially with small listening rooms and the myriad of furnishings, material makeup and other people sharing this space.

Have to say Jack, Nervous rate at 100 does change things for the better I think.

I really have no idea what these settings do one can only try changing them and listening. The Nervous rate at 100 gave an immediate 1db in peak volume at the same volume setting compared to NR10. Whether this gives me an impression of better not sure.

Actually I did try balanced load at 100 not the Nervous rate. My mistake but will try that tomorrow.

Certainly don't recommend 100 balanced load.

Nervous rate 100 is the opposite of 18 practically, I experienced a noticeable lacking in all sound areas at this old setting. Less bass and treble.

I *am* using at the moment, the Balanced load is at 18

This probably has gone unnoticed largely, but even more bass and detail.

Have to listen longer but worth a try.

2.09 produces much more visible excursion on sub bass notes.
Nick

When I fired up 2.10 new settings this is what I observed on my subs immediately. I reduced output to subs on active crossover by a click or two. This resulted in a cleaner more open sound. The bass was much more detailed and accurate.

One could feel you had lost some bass weight but this is replaced by a much better bass definition(I use live unamplified and amplified double bass in music recordings to test this).

My sub drivers(12in, 300mm) barely move even at volume(85 to 90db).

I have always preferred a leaner bass sound as it easily over whelms the mid/highs. In reality most live bass is not low/deep unless amplified/boosted for DJ dance/reggae/pop or some jazz/rock fusion.

Personally I do enjoy this music particularly bass/drums, having been a drummer in a previous life, but a lot is recorded poorly often with exaggerated bass, so is difficult to get sounding right on a home system particularly in the bass region.

I have more bass as well. I had to reduce output to subs on active crossover which also improved the sound.

I would have expected a 24/176.4 file being played back at its native rate to sound the identical, irrespective of which filter was selected in XX. But this does not seem to be the case.

I'm somewhat confused by this statement. I would expect a difference in all 3 states. Filters definitely change the sound.

I tried this last evening with a 1 x 24/44HD track. Interesting in the light of 2.10 and new settings. I found Custom filter almost distorting. Arc Pre less so and no filter very clean sounding. This is pretty basic as I did not spend much time on this, as sound is renewed anyway. Certainly an audible difference between 3 states. In listening to Mark Knopfler's Privateering 24/96 its never sounded better with Arc Pre on.

I have no final conclusion yet and have stayed with ArcPre for now. I do listen to a lot of Hires tracks these days from 24/44 to 24/352. You certainly have raised an issue Mani.

Well 52 and 10 sure make a difference in sound quality. Gosh when I swapped over much more bass, had to turn the active crossover down.
These are settings I've not played with ever.
Sound is amazing but I said that 2 years ago, it just keeps improving.

I've been on this forum for 7 years gosh time flys.

2.10 is sounding very nice. My settings in signature are current. I prefer Arc prediction over custom filters.
I've switched garbage collection back on and it sure does improve the sound. Nice work Peter, thanks.
