Well I have just reset the date using right hand desktop icon back to 1.9.15 and no problems with playback etc. At this point I have no warning messages.

I did this in min OS.

You must all accept the fact that W10074 will be improved upon soundwise anyway. Nothing stays the same especially in the digital world.

I wouldn't be worrying too much about extending dates, even if Peter's new version is not quite as good as W10074 it will be improved by further innovation.

We will of course always be limited by Microsoft using Windows!!!!

Well Peter, you could just do away with Windows altogether and design your own dedicated, integrated Xxhighend and OS audio playback package with a NOS add on for those who need it.

This integrated package can then all be run in Ram by anyone who pays!!!

I realise this is lot's off effort on your part and you are multi tasking in lots of different areas already.

Recognising that W10 is supposed to be the last version.

This I suspect could have less user playback problems.

Since W10 10074 my system is now a dedicated audio playback so I don't want or need most of the W10 OS anyway.

Hi I've just moved Xxhighend from Min OS to normal and back to Min OS. I had the 1st setting at 63 now it will only work at 62 or 64? Is this a problem? Or what could cause this?
Sound quality does not appear to be any different. In reading your notes on these settings I wondered how relevant they may be now that you run no fans anyway as a dedicated server.

I have never played with these settings only followed yours.

One would expect Peter is comparing versions. I will once I get another SSD loaded with the current version.
I have a question if I run a second OS drive is it possible for W10 ver 10074 os to upgrade while I'm running in the latest OS W10 ver?

If I leave XXhighend in Min OS with V10074 this should negate any updates on this drive. Is what I'm hoping.

I do have a problem with the expiry date for 10074 but will do what is required to maintain SQ. It also concerns me stopping updates is a major if at all possible.

I guess time will sort these issues.

Hi Peter,
I presume you have nothing connected via USB to PC. And you have all fans disconnected.
Is this now because running W10 in Ram runs cooler or you have been running no fans anyway?

279  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / W10 Official release on: July 21, 2015, 11:21:39 pm
Interesting for those who don't know W10 is going to be a free upgrade release at least initially. I suspect so Microsoft can make inroads into the android market but read interesting blog below.
At this stage Stop updates is unable to be activated in W10 but on official release will be.

Check this blog out: http://betanews.com/2015/05/04/windows-10-free-can-potentially-cost-a-lot/

I only hope the official release sounds as good as Ver10074. Even Tidal was better with W10v10074. At this point in time I'm operating W10 v10074 with Stop updates in XXhighend Min OS no live internet.

280  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: W10 updated to latest version after all ! on: July 11, 2015, 03:19:00 am
hi Peter,
The rebuild was 10162. I did try to start XXhighend202 in this new W version but it didn't work. Can't set "no updates" to stop in these rebuild's. I see Microsoft are releasing official W10 on 29th July.

When XXhighend202 is in Max OS it does retain "No updates" and in Min OS. But when returning to Max OS you have to reset XXhighend to stop W10 updates.

In the light of the official release you could wait and see how this sounds with XXhigh before doing anymore changes. I'm keen to try the OS in Ram myself.

Hi Peter disaster today!! Win 10 updated to the latest version.
If one goes out off MinOS and XXhighend is not working with Ethernet plugged in, will it still download updates? I did have Stop W10 updates working in XXhighend to stop updates. But XXhighend was not in MinOs  mode.

I've reformatted drive and reloaded fresh W10-10074 but can't get Install.Net 3.5 to install.

Keep getting this error 87.

When I go into Cmd/Admin this is what I get and type in:

C:Windowssystem32>Dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:netfx3 /all /source:G:sourcessxs /LimitedAccess

I loaded up W10-Ver10074 and XXhighend202 which went much easier than 201. Sound definitely, quite a large stepup from W8 201. Well worth the effort. Every aspect of the sound is improved from Bass to Treble. Its like all notes created by each instrument now have a 3D extension.

I have a question is following the Sweetwater W8 optimization worth doing still?

Don't know why I lost the first successful activation? Anyway its working great even my musician wife noticed the difference especially on Leonard Cohen's Old Ideas. His voice, the Webb sisters, the instruments(one off her favourites).

One can only hope W10 may get better but not counting on that one!!!!

More great work Thanks Peter.
284  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Ram disk xx desktop icon on: June 30, 2015, 11:02:49 pm
Hi Peter,
Just one more problem in the second to last paragraph
in the Ram setup instructions it says "in XXhighend settings" to set \XXData to c:XXData. Where exactly in xxhighend settings do I do this?

Ram is working in both data and xxhighend on playback but I'm not saving my remote tablet xxhighend screen settings. I presume its these settings to copy "A" data and "A"xxhighend settings back to "C" to use again. I have set the C\xxhighend in preset but not the data.

Using XXhighend in Ram is definitely better SQ so running the OS in Ram must be even better as you have demonstrated.

You were right did not have all XXhighend files going to "a" ram drive from "c". All go now. thanks
