Yes I think I have copied right files. XXhighend will not start still. I have emailed you.
287  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Ram disk xx desktop icon on: June 29, 2015, 08:48:03 am
Yes xx folder is ram A. In icon properties box I have a:\xxhighend in startin but when I try to put in target which was c:\xxhighend.201\xxhighend.exe and changed to
a:\xxhighend\xxhighend.exe it says path is invalid and won't work. Perhaps I have not setup Rama properly. I made a new icon and this had the same issue.

Hi Peter,
I've just activated your ram disks. Just one question I've created an xxhighend ramdesk icon and the startin is a\xxhighend. Do I leave the target as c\xxhighend.201\xxhighend.exe? I notice this won't attach to the bar?

I agree Peter. I never like to receive things in this manner without prior knowledge.

Joachim in checking your graph I'm probably ok as its rarely past an hour at 95. Good sound site.

I'm 60 in a month, half deaf(industrial noise) and ears full off wax, but boy I can still hear a change in music when a change or "upgrade" is imposed.

The main issue for others(wife) is I tend to run my sound 85 to 95 db.

Still in attending a recent Beth Hart concert my ears were subjected to 110db no distortion. Well I only lasted one song and left.

Interesting most of the crowd were over 50 I can only assume they and the sound engineer are deaf only moving to vibrations.

Can't even think about what young peoples ears will be like in the future being subjected to loud music all day and night.

We need to train more audiophiles my ipod kids do hear the difference between MP3's and 16/44 Wav files and appreciate what a better system can do.

292  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Clearing playback Ram of music data under ver 201 on: June 20, 2015, 03:11:38 am
Hi in checking my playback ram after playing tracks it is not clearing before new tracks are loaded. With some 24/192 HD tracks its getting full and play stops. Clearing away played tracks does not clear ram either.

I have ticked the always clear proxy before playback box under settings. Under ver 1.186a I just pushed the C button. This does not clear the ram under version 201. The only way I can clear is to X xxhighend and restart from fresh.

I have read your 201 notes but??? anyway this is what your notes say under 1.186.

Quote
Following up on the previous subject, the [ C ] button (Clear Cache) now shows an Active/Inactive led and that will show Active when the "Always clear Proxy before Playback" button has been set active. This is your upfront indication that the Proxy will be cleared by standard before Playback starts.

293  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Getting the W10 build 10074 and nothing else on: June 17, 2015, 11:18:07 am
Hi Peter,
this link is the only one that worked for 10074: http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-10-build-10074-iso-32-64-bit-free-download/

All the others point to 10130 version now. I see coliny has run this as a dual boot so far. Even though you don't recommend it, what could go wrong with dual boot? I don't have a problem buying another hard drive.

At this stage I'm still hearing better sound from 201 and new PC but does sound like W10 is worth trying for better SQ.

Hi where does one find this version? I tried 3 sites and ended up with 10130. Its as if alternate sites have already upgraded to the latest version.

Yes it helps.

Its not a good thing having DAC and external music DAC on same USB hub I thought?
This is all I have connected to USB inputs.

Why do you add the Silverstone card and how is it connected?

Do you use the Molex?

I want to have my Dac on a separate USB circuit to the external music drive. Is the silverstone USB3 a good way to go? Is there a better way now?
I can get one locally but do I need a separate cable USB connection? Do you add a power supply connect to it as well?
I don't have a NOS yet and certainly wouldn't consider lifting the Benchmark earth. It already has a boom on startup from cold.
In fact my PC with XXhighend now beats my Cambridge 751 in sound.

No not a question. Just wanted to shut down computer or restart it in remote mode. In fact I want to do everything in remote connect.

In remote mode you can only disconnect remote connection from start button not shut down or restart.

Is this not a good thing?
299  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: How to install the remote and recommended tablets on: June 02, 2015, 12:54:05 am
I've finally managed to get a new Samsung Tab4 10.1 working as a remote through Microsoft Remote control using my router instead of a second computer. I decided to spend $400 as I'm only using the Tab4 for a remote rather than the latest versions at $800. Tab4 by Wifi to router and Lan ethernet cable from router to Audio PC.

By all accounts online web sites rate the Apple tablets the best but they are the most expensive.

Certainly is a quick response time.

I like to shut my computer down and to do this by remote use Alt - F4 also if you want to restart it.

I've disconnected my monitor, mouse and keyboard from the computer.

300  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Filtering on: June 02, 2015, 12:43:33 am
Over the weekend I tried some new filter settings plus Peter's XXhighend settings. Well the difference was huge. Everything just sounds better more real.
The difference between the old Arc setting and the new custom filter settings is easily noticeable.
The new upgraded XXhe201 is well worth the money in fact a bargain.
