436  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / SFS issue on: December 15, 2011, 12:27:09 am

Quote
So, what you say is : "when I start at e.g. track #3, with the higher SFS I will hear a few seconds from track #2", right ? Peter

With SFS set at 430 as any track nears finishing playing approx 10 seconds from the end, music stops then after 8 seconds music back and track finished. We have a blackout of music the counter keeps ticking though.

Resetting at 50(your safe option) all works fine. This is with straight contiguous. I find I have to reboot between changing SFS and reload music files in XXhigh.

I do suspect SFS sounds better higher, but more work to do on that front.

I've read your onboard tip on both SFS and Contiguous and I would like to understand it better. Is this info on this site somewhere?

Lowering SFS to 50 has cured problem. Should I gradually increase SFS until this problem occurs then back of?

Further to the last report I've downloaded Foobar and low and behold the problem disappears so I've incorrectly blamed dbpoweramp when it in fact is a playback problem with either XXhighend or my computer setup. Any suggestions?

Hi guys I have to report I've just found a download only flac file converted to Wav by Db poweramp also has issue with stopping before song ends and starting at that point for next song. So can't blame CD ripping for this I suspect.

The man from db poweramp says this:It is more likely the cd has been mastered incorrectly, or you have a faulty drive which is reporting the toc incorrectly.

I use DBpoweramp but gosh when I rip my older CD's it has a nasty habit of cutting off the track before it has finished and starting the next track with the end of the previous track when playing back. I emailed DB and they say its the CD. Its more than one in fact its lots, so should I be ripping these track by track or is there something BETTER?????

441  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Window 7 updates on: December 07, 2011, 01:53:59 am
I have to report I've removed every update except KB2533552, KB976902 and SP1 KB976932 which can't be removed for W7 Home Premium and listened to Miles Davis-Tutu 24/96(HD soundtrack download originally flac and converted to Wav). Gosh what another improvement in sound to my ears. Hard to believe but real. The bass on this recording is now lower, deeper and cleaner for one aspect.

Its ok, Juan don't beat yourself up at least you had the good heart to report your findings. In fact your findings are very useful thanks, just what I was looking for.

Microsoft is the problem and always has been, but in saying that they are trying to make a product to suit everybody in the world.

What we need is a dedicated basic OS for audio which we are trying to get by eliminating all the unnecessary cr*p off Windows OS's. I'm not a software man but you certainly can hear sound differences when the OS is minimised.

Perhaps this is Peters next challenge to develop an OS to go with XXHighend in the future!!!!!

All I can say, as a new convert to XXHighend, its so much better than JRiver/Foobar and my Meridian CD transport/DAC playback system I've become an addict again.
443  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Window 7 updates on: December 05, 2011, 07:44:24 pm
Can you confirm after reloading W7 onto computer should I only add the SP1 update and no others. I have deleted all updates up to the SP1 but there are prior updates before SP1, should these go also? I did notice an improvement in sound with the removal of the updates I've so far removed.
444  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Output connections from NOS1 on: December 05, 2011, 07:29:18 pm
I currently run the output from DAC through my preamp(7.1 inputs, sound is only running through volume pot). I'm keen to upgrade to the NOS1. I will need two sets of outputs one to the power amps and one to the active subs in order to remove preamp from circuit. I would prefer this over splitting signal with a Y splitter. Possible?
