Yes, you are right on most things as usual, Peter.

-OB are room-dependent and need a medium-sized livingroom. The biggest I have seen do well in about 35sqm
-All FR dynamic drivers need to be lowpassed (either with cap or electronically)
-Lowters shout, cant make myself to like them.

Peter: One thing from whishlist: Can you add a small feature that allows to shut down the PC after the playback is over. The use case is that I sometimes listen to music and fall asleep until morning, so would be nice that XX box also gets some rest Happy Do not know why but my tweaked Vista has no Sleep function???

Ivo

Why your tweaked vista has no sleep? Try to add it, it's very useful.
I never shut down my dedicated pc, sleep all the time. This also solves the problem of the SLOW save image on shutdown of the ramdisc (which i have disabled).
108  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: The optimal PC-setup on: November 22, 2010, 07:47:09 am
Thnx Telstar!
I saw your computer has similar specs. Does it work out allright for you?
Regards, Han

Yes, very well an it's completely stable.
For octal AP with XO it wont be enough processing power and i'll need a faster cpu. Hope they make something COOL in the next 12 months or so.

Take the Vertex2 (should be from the performances but you dont say it).
110  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Wishlist: repeat track on: November 20, 2010, 04:42:50 pm
But it's already on my list, so at least I won't forget about it.

Regards,
Peter

Thanks.
For unattended can it be done like the "stop at the track end button"?
I mean, after it stops, it plays the same track. Dunno, just an idea.

I support Telstar in his request for (at least) a playlist repeat button on XX.

Sorry, but that won't happen; not for Unattended. Or not likely anyway. The only thing what theoretically (and feaseably) could be done is fake it. Like stuffing in the Playlist a 100 times.

Peter

Can you make it happen for attended?
If i'm in the mood for repeat listening i can stand the SQ deterioration caused by attended playback (i.e when i'm working Happy ).
I didnt really think it would be that hard to implement, really.

i need this  holiday
113  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Wishlist: repeat track on: November 17, 2010, 03:32:52 pm
I'm going to try right now :D

I tried it and I didnt manage to have it work the way i want. I press A then at the end of a track it keeps going to the next one.
Would i have to wait til the near end and press B?

Can I have a simple "repeat track" button, that i can press BEFORE starting playback? unhappy

114  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Wishlist: repeat track on: November 16, 2010, 12:56:54 pm
It must be so long (AGO) that I don't recall it;
To avoid all misunderstandings : you are asking for ONE track to repeat endlessly. That's A-B playback, this time from the start to the end of the track. I'm using it myself half of the say ... (for measuring).

DOH!
I thought that would compare two different settings, to be chosen somehow beforehand.
I'm going to try right now :D

I for sure do NOT want to go online to activate the OS.

My experience : Once yoyuhave (!) to do that because it doesn't go automatically (which is on-line also of course), it won't work anyway. So, it goes automatically, or it doesn't work at all.

Peter, all this can be avoided with an OEM version, like I said, which is pre-activated (or can be made so).
Anyway, if you BOUGHT the license, it doesn't matter what you do to stop the activation nags (there are other ways more brutal that work).

PS: Those thing re-asking for activation usually happen AFTER some "security" updates that you downloaded and installed. I'm NEVER going to do that for the Music PC.
117  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Wishlist: repeat track on: November 15, 2010, 10:24:12 pm
Please please please, I need this.
I dont remember how long I asked for this feature, Peter.
A repeat tracklist and/or album would be nice too, but i NEED the repeat track endlessly.

PS: i prefer the gallery button in the bottom panel.
118  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Build a new computer for Z3/Vista 64 bit/RAMdisk on: November 15, 2010, 10:22:29 pm
MOBO: with PS/2 ports for mouse and keys, built-in graphic card, 4 slots for mem allowing to go at least 8 GB

Most motherboards accept 16GB total, and you should take one that does.

You will need to activate Vista with a legal key - not doing it is illegal, so don't even think about it even if you find a workaround, it's just wrong!

You should be able to put your key in the install iso, but that requires an OEM version not retail I think.
I for sure do NOT want to go online to activate the OS.

So, working with Vista HP SP2 via vlite. It seems I cut off too much, as even the installation failed

If you followed instructions from my post then it's more likely vLite simply does not work with SP2.
But here's my .ini file so you can check...

Pity unhappy
I was going to try next week
