Telstar,

You beautifully provided those log files, but as it turns out I need those from XXHighEnd (the XX files). Can you please :

Turn on logging, let it happen again, and at the moment the error message is on the screen, draw a copy of the XX log file and post that.

Thanks !
Peter

I posted the XX logs in this post:
http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=744.msg5458#msg5458

But as you can see they dont say anytning.

i'll play for a while now until i get the error and i'll post the XX logs again.
620  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Elaborate on: March 23, 2009, 04:00:40 pm
TBH i preferred q2-5 at 0. In some cases they could provide a sort of pleasant effect but not true to the recordings IMO.
I said to Peter that it was similar to the tone controls of old amps. I still think that.
621  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: WiFi Remote on: March 06, 2009, 11:45:25 pm
I have to get a dongle to test the Wiewsonic airpanel that otherwise cant install in Vista.

I'll try this as well then. But, its a IR to be used with a remote such as the Harmony or a wi-fi thing?

Just a note: the engine3 crash was due to japanese characters (i re-ripped that cd with english titles).

The drag and drop error is completely random instead, happens both in vista x64 and in w7 b7000 x32.

My only suggestion to debug is to install the SP1, which you should have long ago Wink))
624  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: X3 errors still on: February 24, 2009, 01:33:07 pm
Hmm ... so this may happen when you restore to the normal size ? or when you do Alt-Tab to reacivate XX perhaps ?

Attended/flac, after reinstall (i.e deleted folder, reunzipped and recreated temp folder)
No, it does it by itself, when i have it minimized and i'm using firefox or office programs.

I noticed that when a track change xxhe gets the focus and the name in the taskbar glows. I'm not sure if it does all the times, though.

I do not use unattended on this machine because when it crashes it does not restore my background Wink

Also, yesterday I did some playback under Windows7, build7000 x32 (compared to my vista which is 64 bit).
Exactly the same behaviour.

Moreover, some tracks with japanese characters simply make xxengine3.exe crash.
625  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: X3 still on: February 20, 2009, 08:04:49 pm
Hi Telstar,

I did not know of these

That's why you didnt fix em Happy

although I know what kind of stuff can incur for it. But I really must know at what occasion(s) this happens.
I know they (usually) can't be copied at will. So if it happens again, can you please tell me what you did ?
Leaving the loggin on for a while is another idea. Might you not recognize what you did to incur for it, you can always post the most recent XX logfile (X3 logfile is not necessary).

Thanks,
Peter

I did keep it logging, and the log doesnt say much. It happens absolutely at random, not always with the same file.
I think it has something to do with mp3 tracks.

Here is a part of the logs, but they dont seem to say much to me:

Quote
16:44:38.2079468 Trackload started (init)
16:44:38.2099468 Track Name : UnicodeTrack0001.wav
16:44:38.2099468 Data Parameter : :DATA:E:\Music\80s\COREYH~1\CO6830~1.MP3:TIME:4:38.58:BITRATE:0128:TYPE:MP3:START::CV:E:\Music\80s\COREYH~1\folder.jpg
16:44:38.8119468 Music file found : UnicodeTrack0001.wav
16:44:39.9559468 Track ready to play ---------------------

And it just stops there.
This maybe is the only one that says a bit more, altough in other logs it kept playing even if xxdat001 didnt exist:
Quote
16:48:16.2079468 Trackload started (init)
16:48:16.2099468 Track Name : UnicodeTrack0001.wav

16:52:49.0189468 Get file for track
16:52:49.0189468 XXDat0001.dat does not exist

626  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / X3 errors still on: February 20, 2009, 06:37:26 pm
I still get random errors when playing with the following .NET mask.
Was the same with X1 and X2.

627  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Q1 setting = +4 on: February 18, 2009, 02:10:28 pm
I just installed the 09-x2 and was looking for the best Q1 settings. I also was using +14, but today i put +2 and I seem to like it.
Any advice for this version? Happy

Edit: compared with +2 and +14, I also prefer +4 Happy
628  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: World's first NOS 24/192 filterless DAC ? on: February 18, 2009, 12:03:04 am
Please note the difference with something like equalizing. I am not in favour of that, and will "allow" it by the grace of the means to apply it (because : any filter can be applied, as explained before). So the only thing which I like about it is that it can be applied without loosing on SQ just because of applying it (mind you, like decoding FLAC is audible when done in real time).

Peter

Equalization or "phase delay" as DRC do are needed in some rooms like mine. I do understand why you do NOT need equalization in your room, but in most other cases it will help. Those 16db (or 13?) you added to the HF could have been done with a digital filter. Think of that if you DIDN'T have a crossover. Happy

I'm not sure how you are planning to apply the filters, are we still talking of not touching the (thousands of) music files, right? Happy
What do you mean by not being real-time? Do you mean some preload in memory or a way to hardcode in the program?

Anyway, our goal is the best SQ, so I'm pretty sure that you will find the proper way.
629  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: World's first NOS 24/192 filterless DAC ? on: February 17, 2009, 03:48:16 pm
Why should I buy Audiolense (which is good btw), when DRC is free? Happy
Why did you pay for XXHighEnd when Foobar is free? Cool

Because XXHE sounds better?
AFAIK XXHE is the only WASAPI player available. WASAPI is a much more solid api than ASIO, it's less dependent on the drivers produced by the manifacturers.

Quote
-The point is that digital EQ with lots of FIR filters generate phase errors. They sing like a dead bird, to quote Mr P. So you need a program which can perform a Group Delay Correction in the final stage, before D/A conversion, in order to get (most of) the transient sharpness and dynamics back into the music. But of course, if you wanna live a dull life for free, it's your choice. He-he. (No offense!)

First of all, did you try DRC? AFAIK it creates only one filter (per channel), and the filters can be 24/192.
I assume that you must create at least ONE filter to apply any kind of digital correction.

AFAIK, the features of DRC are superior to any other software, but I could be wrong, so if I am, correct me.
It's not like I dont want to spend the 300€, but I believe(d) that besides graphic representation and ease of use, the functionalities of DRC surpass the ones of Audiolense.

Quote
Hopefully XXhighend will have a possibility of plug-ins too in the near future?
I hope so, but at first I hope the possibility to use digital filters.
630  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: World's first NOS 24/192 filterless DAC ? on: February 16, 2009, 11:48:17 pm
If you want EQ and/or roomcorrection there is one amazing program to buy: AUDIOLENSE XO. It even includes digital XO functions if you want to, for as many channels you like at whatever samplingfrequenzy. At €360.- it's a bargin.

I use it as a EQ/DRC in 2-chanel mode with final Group Delay Correction to minimize any phase errors occuring after the FIR filters. After measurements the program creats a correction file, which I enter into the playback chain, through Convolver plug-in running in a digital loop inside the RME FFMixer software. Life will never be the same.

Why should I buy Audiolense (which is good btw), when DRC is free? Happy
BTW can audiolense create filters for each channel separately? Wink

PS: I dont have the Fireface and if things go as they should, I'll never have it.
