lsass is the most nasty thing for I/O's you don't want. So far I would not know how to shut that off (for its I/O's), althoug I dove into that for a couple of hours only, a while ago), and I was hoping that just this went away with SP1.

When you kill lsass, your PC will reboot ...

The separately uploaded XXEngine3 was dedicated to Scheme-3;
0.9u-14a works with all the Schemes (and thus incorporates a newer version of XXEngine3, which you can see by the date it carries).

I hope we understand eachother ... Happy

Hmm ... I am playing with 0.9u-14a since it is there, Appointment = 2, and at least I never had a problem anymore.
I must say though that in 75% of cases I played with Q1 = 14. Happy

Well, if you can find a pattern I'll be happy to dive into it again.

But with 0.9u-14a (and the new engine.exe)

In 0.9u-14 that new XXEngine3 is incorporated. But I guess that's what you were saying ? (hence don't copy that separately uploaded XXEngine3 over it ! the latest is working a tad differently again to this matter !).

Leo, did my PM help you ?
14270  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Files Longer Than 6 minutes Will Not Play on: April 18, 2008, 09:22:13 am
Hi KUOYAO,

Thank you for your nice words. But might you be able to get Vista ... that is way better for SQ (by means of Engine#3).

Quote
The reason my soundcard is not the primary driver is that I get crackles when working with other applications in the background even though I’ve disabled all sound options.

This is interesting by itself. I never heard of this so far, and should not be so of course.
On another note I would say that when all other sounds and stuff are disabled, there would no other device be left to select, and the device you want to use for playback is the only one, hence is primary. I must honestly say though, that I forgot a bit how things in XP work.
Anyway, are you sure you actually *disabled* all other sound devices ?

Quote
Can XXHighEnd be configured to continue using Engine #1 without setting my sound card as primary driver?  I’m still using XP.

Sadly, no. The way Engine#1 is working does not allow files larger than 64MB to be played. This is an XP limitation.
This is why Engine#2 was created, but Engine#2 has the limitation of not being able to change the sound device.
(and for others : Engine#3 does allow to change the sound device, but I just did not make this yet since this is somehwat harder to do in the environment concerned).

On the crackles ... I don't know which soundcard you use (but please tell me), and possibly you can get the latest drivers and then it works better ?

IIRC nobody ever reported crackles with XP (hence Engine#1 or #2), although by now nearly everybody is on Vista. But anyway, this should theoretically tell this is something special in your system. Maybe you can think of something "special" yourself ?

Hi Gerard,

I moved this from "Interesting music / Test material" to Chatter. Even that might be a strange place for this.

I don't get what you want with it ...

Hi,

This looks like you are using Engine#1, and with the longer than 6 minutes tracks this will turn into Engine#2 (in red !) automatically.
Is this right ?

If so ... Engine#2 (and Engine#3 btw) requires that your sound device is set as the Primary Sound Device.

Does that help you ?

And what if you create a new XX folder ?
14275  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: new feature request:) on: April 16, 2008, 11:48:19 pm
Yes. This is similar to the aero and all other stuff which is often referred to. I don't say I hear it, but I just know similar things happen as what changes sound in the program. But it's okay, I'll do it (and some MUCH more convenient stuff). Happy

Hi Gerard,

Did you ever send anything ? I sure did not notice it ... Happy
14277  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Activation does not work anymore ! on: April 16, 2008, 10:23:08 pm
I got  a strange error when trying  the new Engine 3 with my duo core laptop for the core appointment tricks (normally I use another PC, my  single core main music pc). At start up of XX it mentioned that I could not set core appointment when in demo mode, and indeed I was treated a a demo client from then on by XX. Reactivating with my code again does not work  either. Any suggestions how I could solve this ?

If you did not put this XXEngine3.zip over 0.9u-14, this happens ...

Edit : Reading this back, I really can't think of why I said this. Please let this not inspire you (all) to put the XXEngine3.zip over the one coming from 0.9u-14.

I am really sorry to say Peter..... sorry But nothing has changed.... For me it is exact the same like before.... From the beginning till the end of the song cracks.

Q1-2 schema 3 & 4:                          Cracks
Q1-2 schema 1 & 2 & No Appointment: No problemmo
I can bring my pc over... When that safe's time for you  Happy

But Gerard, I may have said it before ... you are bugged by something else. This is not about cracks throughout the tracks, this is about track boundaries.
Sorry ...

That is very easy to do Andrey, but keep in mind please that it still will influence. But I will make it.

For those who were bothered by this, would you care to try the below version of XXEngine3.exe and report please ?

Put the current XXEngine3.exe in your XX folder aside, and replace it with the one in the zip below.
Thanks,
Peter

Edit : Removed the zip, while results are known from it by now, and it can create confusement (merely created by myself in other posts).
