Uhhm ... wackowackowackowackowacko  I'm not sure you wrote it like a storm, I read it as a storm, I drunk too much, or it's because a kind of storm is going on here (there is), but this is the answer :

Cue files currently, per track, are read per the complete album and then the track is subtracted from that. That will improve in a future version (as in reading the part concerned only).
Is that something for an answer ?
14927  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XX High End doesn't stop (all versions) on: December 02, 2007, 04:08:42 pm
It's ok Jurek.

To me the 2-3 seconds seem crazily long. If you can find a way to set that shorter (merely to 1ms or so Happy I think that will influence SQ for the better.
Note that I'll adjust it anyway, so it's not about that.

Hi Jurek,

I guess you -somewhere- have a large buffer, assuming this happens with all the DACs you tested (but you have it with SPDIF only ?). Anyway, this 2-3 seconds is longer than I anticipated upon (according places in the program), so indeed now it can happen.
I will make it longer.

Your only concern would be backup times. Theoretically with a 400 connection 1TB will take (very) roughly 25 hours. With 800 that's 12.5 hehe.

In order to be free of choice, it's best to think of a backup strategy that allows you to make incremental backups. With this, keep in mind that e.g. changing the structure of folders already is an undoable task to follow manually towards the backup (compare a newly ripped CD, which would be doable).

If you can't arrange for this decently, forget about making backups with this speed (even 800). Also note that you won't like to make a backup because you'll think it influences sound.
And then my example was about 1TB only ...

One approach would be maintaining (folder) structure canges in Galeries only, and just never care about the physical structure. Btw, this is what I'm heading for currently, and therefore the Library functions in XX need to speed up 1000 times (working on that right now). Thus, when you are not bothered by physical structure changes and added albums / changed coverart / deleted albums only, IMO keeping track of all manually is doable. Note though, that in order to let this really work, your backup disks have to be online always (rip an album and copy it to the backup right after that).

A good backup strategy is key to cope with these large amounts of data. Don't arrange for that properly, and you'll get stuck with your (amounts of) data.

Well, that's exactly what happens when you use xxhighend.nl.
Use phasure.com at both sides and you are logged in automatically (when not explicitly logged off the time before).  Happy

Maybe I just don't understand the problem ...
Do you maybe want to get logged off automatically ? I don't think that's possible. But, when you log off explicitly, next time you won't be logged on automatically ...

Maybe you have www.xxhighend.nl as the URL ?
With www.phasure.com this does not happen.

Or else I don't understand ?
14933  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Engine 1 turn red, and stop playing on: December 01, 2007, 03:22:01 pm
Hi,

When "#1Engine" shows in read, it indicates that you chose Engine #1 to play with, but instead XXHighEnd switched to Engine #2 because #1 could not cope with the file size (which is limited to (uncompressed) 64MB).

Now, when the sound stops right at switching internally to Engine #2, it means that most probably you did not set your Primary Sound Device to the one you actually chose for playback with Engine #1. Note that with #1 you can choose from the list of devices, which #2 does not allow (it always takes the first listed (actually the second, because the first one is mentioned as "Primary Sound Driver", being the one listed right underneath that)).

I hope it is not too confusing ...

14934  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: LP versus CD on: December 01, 2007, 11:34:42 am
And at the time of that post XXHighEnd was virtually lousy sounding (which at that time we found *very* good). rofl
But as time goes by ...

Some three weeks ago I have been listening to a couple of 20K-30K turntables with 4K pickup elements, and I must honestly say ...

The vinyl guys just don't know what they are missing ...
Suddenly they have an enormeous set back. yes

I have planned some more explicit comparison sessions (a.o. with the fameous mr. Van den Hul who lives 300 meters down the road), and as far as I can be objective, I'll report back.

About above mentioned set back ... of course I should be more explicit, but since all was heard through a for me unknown system, I think it is dangerous to point out specifics. I can say though, that where everybody was raving about what they heard (tenths of people visited this "national pick-up days" as how the sessions were called), I really couldn't find a reason to.

One of the most remarkeable things I noticed, was that playing an expensive turntable seems more difficult then ripping, tuning your PC and all. If there's not unsolveable hum from the beginning and 10 people scientifically working out how to route the earthings, then there's airflow noise from air-bearing tangential arms. Hahaha.
Browsing LP's smelled nice as usual, but it's really no way of finding your music. Not for me, not anymore. But that's another matter of course.

More from me (many weeks) later.

For those interested : The XXHighEnd.exe contained in the zip below should be copied in the folder where you have the 0.9s-2 (0.9sa-2) version, and solves the improper reset of Processor Core Appointment, hence the inability for a next proper assignment.

Special thanks to Gerard !
14936  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: P.A. Schemes behave different at relative changes ? on: November 30, 2007, 07:21:12 pm
Phwew ... solved.
Until I upload a next version you can only be sure that all is doing what you intended when right after a reboot the Scheme is selected once before Play.
The reset (e.g. after Stop) is not okay, but I don't think you care.
What it comes to : don't change Schemes during a (boot) session after you played already.
14937  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: P.A. Schemes behave different at relative changes ? on: November 29, 2007, 10:46:05 pm
And I was just thinking I tested it all so excessivley. Self learning Vista ? nea
Must be caused by me somehow.
wacko
14938  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: P.A. Schemes behave different at relative changes ? on: November 29, 2007, 08:38:06 pm
It is Gerard ... but thanks to your now accurate outlay I can copy that behaviour (and it's not even difficult).
Hmm ...

oops
14939  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: P.A. Schemes behave different at relative changes ? on: November 29, 2007, 08:24:07 pm
Okay, I will try that. But ... this is what you told in the first post :

Quote
Correct me if i am wrong but i think the schema's react  different when you start your pc and first play No appointment. Then go to schema 3

which is different from going immediately to Scheme-3 right after a reboot as you said in your last post (first dutch sentence).

I will try that now ...
14940  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: P.A. Schemes behave different at relative changes ? on: November 29, 2007, 06:56:56 pm
Gerard,

I checked it ... this is not the case.
Also note that I did not see anything strange as such in your pictures, as long as I imagine how core-1 looks like, whith the spike in core-2.
