15136  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / WMP rips on: October 22, 2007, 05:34:26 am
The "errors" I talked about in that release note are not about sound quality. They are about errors in the formal format of files, now possibly not being captured anymore, and e.g. all can stay silent or digital noise instead of a neat message that prevents playback,
Note that those errors already can emerge from a bad rip.

So far we don't have the experience and we will see how it works out.
15137  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Flac problems on: October 21, 2007, 11:06:45 pm
Hi Gerard,

True ... no Library functions support the FLAC extensions yet. I forgot to tell that.

About the Length Error message ... I hope you can PM me about an example ...

Candy Dulfer : Here too, if you'd have an individual track giving you a message like this ..., please PM it to me (try to find a rather short one).

In all cases, I hope you can provide me the data on how you ripped the track, and what it is, to your expectations, hat it does not work.
Thanks.
15138  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Version N and source problems on: October 21, 2007, 09:15:08 pm
Thanks ....

Well, it took me some 8 hours to make something of it. Your example works, but maybe it's the only one ...
Please note that what WMP applies here is not a standard by any means. I don't know the deeper background of it, but sure what WMP makes of it, is not on any CD ...
See XXHighEnd Model 0.9o (Implements FLAC support).
I hope it works now anyway ...
15139  Ultimate Audio Playback / Download Area and Release Notes / XXHighEnd Model 0.9o (Implements FLAC support) on: October 21, 2007, 09:08:26 pm
Engine#3 only :

... which is for now about the FLAC files with extention FLAC only, and just "plain" compressed files are supported.
Might your files be about Cue encaptulation ... not now.

Anyone having these : please listen carefully whether you hear a difference with normal WAV files. Technically that would not be possible ... but if so anyway, please let it know.

No explicit changes were applied to gapless and possible timing issues (nor was this tested), but the already reserved time should be enough for normally (well) performing systems; When changes are needed they can be applied later. First approval of SQ is needed. yes
Edit : Also, none of the Library Search functions currently will look for FLAC files., again awaitening SQ approval.

Then, "half" support for WMP ripped files was added (which for Engine#1 and Engine#2 is supported implicitly, as reported by users);
As it occurred, those files will have received a non-standard format. Although I myself did not dive into the possibilities on this in WMP, this is about "WAVELISTs" which would be Microssoft's implementation of cue files within a normal WAV file. Strangely enough deep down in their own "kernel programs" they don't support it themselves (similar to the non-support of the new Exclusive Mode by WMP). Note though that I could not find any further info on this, so maybe my statements are, say, BS.
Rather much effort was put in getting it to work anyway, and actually it can't be done without the support of the kernel programs concerned.
Please note : What happened is that some general checks for a decent "playback stream" had to be removed in order for some base to let this work. Actually this is a stupid thing to do, and possibly unknown errors might come from it. Mind you, from normal WAV files. If so indeed, the support for WMP-rips will be removed immediately. sorry
The half working as of now, might imply that most of it doesn't work anyway ... So please keep this in mind. But also, please let it know !!

Anyway, might you see anything at the ripping options from WMP that even smells like "cue"/"wavelists", avoid it !

Solved issue :
Caused by inconcistencies in the Vista uplevelled Administrator Rights as needed per version 0.9m (for Processor Core Appointment), tracks with diacritical marks *in their path* would error out at playback attempt. This is solved now.

I wonder if SB3 could have such a player inside itself. that would be a winner Happy

Well, I can tell you a secret not known to many ...
I actually started this XXHighEnd "project" because some three years ago I could, say, reason that a network player would have the characteristics dedicated to the SB from today. So I bought a Momitsu (http://www.momitsu.com/dvd_880n.html) and soundwise it became true ...
... but the means of control ...  unhappy
I don't know how the Momitsu measures and whether it can cope with the SB, but it sure sounded better than my TEAC P1 (both with the same AudioNote DAC).

That's all.
But also : just started ! yes
15141  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Playback of DTS encoded WAV's on: October 19, 2007, 07:18:03 pm
Hey Russ ... Yep; in the future any fed samplerate and bit depth will be supported.

I may have some comments on the DTS playback later (must try a few things here) ...

I am behind the proxy. Could it be the problem? can I set the XX to use proxy?

Actually I don't know. Please let me know. We'll sort it out.

Why is the silence ? ... because I was driving from A to B in the mean time.

Anyway, now I understand your post ...
Indeed something went wrong, and yes this is the very first time ... You should have received an email with your Activation Code.

Watch you email ... (and I am sorry for the inconvenience).

Well ... Welcome ! then ...
 Happy

The license is for one household, which is fair I think. It could have been per PC, like much software is licensed ...
I understand that 72 euro can be a lot of money for many people, which is subject to the currency values all over the world. sorry

I don't understand the process of getting the activation code.

I am not sure whether you have a problem with Activating, or there is something else ? Please ask whatever it is; I'll try to understand and help.

Peter

15146  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Version N and source problems on: October 19, 2007, 11:44:14 am
Okay, time to solve this for once and for all ...

But things are going on, of which I currently don't know what it is. So please help me a bit;

First of all people earlier (months ago) reported about what you just told, which is not consistent with "in 0.9j it was ok".
So : it would be helpful if you could determine the last version which was okay for you
On the other hand, you could skip this if you could email me the smallest track you can find, which should be sufficient to copy the behaviour (and please note I refuse to install/activate WMP on any machine I have, so now I'm not "able" to create those files sorry).

Do not cut the source, because
a. the program concerned will reassign the "header data" and it won't be a representative of the problem
b. when you'd really cut it (with an editor) the header data won't be consistent with the audio data.

Sidenote : Engine#1 and #2 as well as other software are able to deal with, say, inconsistencies because errors in the header data can be tweaked out during playback. In Engine#3 this, so far, was not done.

Thanks,
Peter

I'm on page 11 in that thread and tend to believe nothing more is coming of "our" importance in the next 40 pages ?

Ok, take it that FLAC will be in the next version.
Maybe more than FLAC alone ... secret
