(Of course, when playing 0.9k, I have manually set the priorities and affinites the same as 0.9m achieves automatically.)

I doubt that ... although you could have done it technically. Happy

You should think about streamlining.

Oh help ... is this about the next idea coming up ? too much !

True Edward ... had to find an appropriate answer ... or in fact, I have/had one, but you may not like it that much. Wink

In the later versions -which exactly I can't tell- had slipped in some debug code for this matter. So, this was active in production unintendedly. blush1 This debug code did just *not* activate Invert, but the math to correct a 2 byte positive integer (as what is used in Redbook) while half of it represents negative (volts), was still active but now wrongly applied. In fact, with Invert the lot was DSPd a bit ... and certainly did not invert the phase.  blush2

Now it is working properly, and what you might perceive from it is untouched data, whereas before it was mangled with (though unintended). So now the phase is just inverted, nothing else. So what you are dealing with now is that maybe you have to learn how to hear the difference.

But careful now ...
The Phase Inversion, though originally setup to satisfy those who are disturbed by wrong absolute phase, when finished was not officially implemented at first because of the perceived idea of it not being useful because it hardly occurs that a whole song is recorded with wrong absolute phase, and merely individual elements (singer, guitar, the snare drum) are. However :
When the Q1 was introduced, it occurred that at certain "levels" of Q1, now Invert suddenly could make the difference of the world. Btw, this was when the bug as described above did not get into the production version yet.

Moral : When Q1 starts to be, say, nasty, it is exactly the point where Phase Invert will drop your jaw. That is, it looks like the general experience from people; not only my own. This phenomenon by itself implies that there are also Q1 settings where Invert hardly makes a difference (think of +90 vs. -90 degrees).

Phase is the most important phenomenon within audio IMO. Not so much to the sense of "proper phase" but far more in the area of properly aligned.

Did you try those beta drivers ?
15185  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Vista Users ... prepare yourselves ... on: October 09, 2007, 08:55:14 am
Hi there Chris,

Sadly, I don't have them. But maybe I can explain :

XXCPU05 (06 is the same) :

1. Perform rightclick on the shortcut icon (XX and Explorer respectively).
2. Choose Properties from the context menu that appears after 1.
3. In the screen then appearing, choose the Shortcut tab.
4. In there choose Advanced.
5. In the screen then appearing (the right hand screen in the picture), choose Run As Administrator.
6. Press Ok. The screen disappears.
7. Press Apply in the other screen. Press Ok.

Remember, *if* this is your choise of going about. See first post.

HTH,
Peter

But Klaus ... what on earth did you remove from the registry ? I'm not aware of putting anything in there. Really ...
So please tell me, so I can avoid it in the future (??).

Ah ... *that* !
Ok. Thanks !

Path window ?
I resized the screen, but I don't see anything I'm not used to ...
15189  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Soundmax HD under XP - Installation issues ? on: October 08, 2007, 03:59:04 pm
Hi Klaus,

1. Deleting the directory - or put everything just in another one would be sufficient. The only thing that could remain is your settings, like which Engine you used lastly. But that's completely harmless.

2. No. IMHO not. ASIO doesn't sound right, KS doesn't sound right; Both are out of my control.
The improvements are in Vista, and if all is right you can hear that, say, each other month (but in practice it goes faster yes).

I don't want to be snobbish, but everyone staying with XP because reasons like "yeah, but there my soundcard is supported", does that for the wrong reason. If you're into the best SQ possible ... well, you know what it's about.

Regards,
Peter

One thing that is different than your pic in XXCPU01.png is that the box next to Music Root is Not next to Music Root in my setup, but down in the middle of the window.... What is that Music Root box for?

Would you care to post a screen copy of that ? (the full window of XX please).
15191  Ultimate Audio Playback / Music Storage and convenient playback / Re: Where to get your CoverArt on: October 08, 2007, 09:51:14 am
Yes, that's the way to go (did not try/download that).
I already planned to build such a thing in XXHighEnd.

Small warning : There are more of these around; be VERY careful that they don't override your precious *already good* pictures. But also : that they don't mess up with sub folders for multi volume albums; for XXHighEnd counts that if there's a folder.jpg, it prevales above the folder.jpg one level up.
Here speaks one with experience ...  Happy

About the cover.jpg ...
In an earlier version of XX you indeed could tell what the name is. I removed that temporarily because at that time this kind of data would not stick (at a next startup). Today this is arranged for. So I will put it back.
Note though that "folder.jpg" is a standard, several software works with (like XX now, hehe).
Otoh, there are also standards coming up for "backcover", "booklet", to name a few.

Klaus,

Luckily you solved the right channel thing yourself; I would have had no clue ...
But under XP if you don't have the proper drivers (e.g. MME from RME), things are subject to KMixer.

About that right part staying grey ... it's hard to imagine what you mean. Could you please provide a screen copy ?
Thanks,
Peter

I forgot to tell ... When XXHighEnd is not run properly "As Administrator" there will be a message about that at startup. So if you don't receive such a message ... all shoud be okay.
15194  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Problem using XXHighEnd with Terratec Aueron 7.1 Space on: October 08, 2007, 09:19:58 am
Difficult ...

http://supporten.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewdownload&cid=56&menu=53820

Apart from hardly anything working (at this moment ?) on that site, it looks like there are no official Vista drivers.
The status with the beta drivers as far as I can see did not change since March (07).

Apart from that this most probably will prevent you from using Exclusive Mode (but try the beta if you ever can get it to download !), you MUST select 44100/16 in the combobox. Without that, you'll get the second message (sample rate doesn't match).
Note that this combobox is for Shared Mode only. In Exclusive Mode it's not effective.

I found no proof that the Space 7.1 resamples.

Can't you bring it back ?  unhappy

Hi Bert,

Yes, then it should be working. The graph of the cpu useage should look similar to the screencopy I showed though. When not (hence the right part shows siginificantly more useage) we can (and will) dive into things.

There's Hyperthreading processors (the old "Pentium"), DuoCore's (like you have I think) and the Core2Duo's. And the real dual or more processors of course (which by themselves can have more cores, or "Hyperthreading").

The newer, the "more official" for separate cores. To what extend they contribute to appointing the tasks as XXHighEnd intends ... we'll see.

Peter
