871  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / How to connect my Phasure Mach III Audio PC ? on: May 13, 2018, 07:53:15 am
Hey there Michael,

Sorry for your frustration, but that's computers eh.
And forums ...

Quote
''This could be due to CredSSP encryption oracle remediation''

So it is a kind of unwritten rule that you should follow the Phasure forum. Haha. Luckily you got that explicit message about CredSSP, although you are the most unlucky guy to run into this while it was introduced only the past week.
CredSSP policy change - no RDP possible.
So the least you are dealing with is that and otherwise it is a most normal RDP connection. But if one is not used to that, nothing is normal.
Btw, if you use the Ethernet port with the green dot next to it ... that's the one I have been using over here on the very PC.
And connect via IP addresses and not via PC names.

All beginning is difficult, and when one hurdle has been taken, an other pops up ...
yes

Heads up and let's get it going,
Peter

Hi Juan,

Please notice that the RDPW program (YouTube) you linked to is not about Multiple Remote Desktop Sessions however, it does that too. But we should not be confused by this.

Btw, when I read your post yesterday, it occurred to me that the Policy entry wouldn't be there for "Home" OSes. Can that be so ? If yes, this is exactly the reason why RDPW will help (it was made for that). But not sure, because it would be about the receiving PC (like the Audio PC).

Best regards,
Peter

OK, so while the vulnerability exists for each OS, each OS also receives upgrades for it (I suppose not XP Wink). Good to know !
Man, 6 months back or so I had to install SP1 for a W7 machine (which controls the Audio PC over here) while for all this time I never ever applied any upgrade (KB) to it. I suppose I wouldn't know where to go without this information. OK, Google is your friend, but still.

Thank you for sharing this, Zheng.

Anthony,

That box is anything but hollow and weighs about 80kg (on purpose).

Weren't you in an attic somewhere with all your gear ?
Is there a prediction when all collapses ?

so that the client PC will not have to fall back to a more vintage and vulnerable state.

Hi Zheng,

Somehow I read your post as a contradictio in terminis ?

OK, clear. Thank you, Anthony.

To be clear, that box under your NOS1 is part of the isolation means ?
If so, what are these three "knobs" ?

Anthony, wow.

Is the photo you attached the same as the one in the middle of the text, lacking ?

Kind regards,
Peter

Great, Anthony. Thanks.
Can you please elaborate on how this issue expresses itself ?
It could even be more important to know the exhibit than knowing how to solve it. So ... at some stage (could be a year after today) people receive a W10 update and suddenly ... [...] ?

Thank you again !

So Ramesh, why not leave the connection from the external amp be (let sit in the Orelo input(s)) and switch off that amp when it is not in use (or leave it on at your choice).

When you want to play audio :
- Set input selector to Main Ch and use as always.

When you want to play a movie :
- Move end of Interlink (coming from NOS1) to input of external amp;
- Set input selector to Ext. Amp.

Obviously this requires mono blocks and each of them sitting next to the Orelo.
And whether it is worth the trouble I don't know.

Peter

Hi guys,

What do we exactly notice of this ? how do we solve it ?
Of course I'm asking on behalf of (near) future issues for others with this.

Thanks !

Yes Michael, great.
When you got the hang of it we can expand to whatever you like best for any reason.

Best regards,
Peter

PS: Yes, of course the PC takes a USB stick. But since (it will be worse for SQ and) you have the risk of it utilizing Drive letter D: which is not allowed, it is only challenging for additional problems. First get acquainted with (many) things. Happy

Hi Michel,

OK, clear.
Doesn't the Mini have WiFi ?

884  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / Re: Phasure Mach III Audio PC with Linear Power Supply on: May 07, 2018, 04:56:57 pm
Hi Michel,

Surface -> (RDC, WiFi) -> Router -> (cable) -> Mac Mini -> (RDC, cable) -> Stealth.

Start with the last part ("Mac Mini").
This is the advice, so let's stick to that. Later you can explore the 1000 more possibilities/combinations, right ?

Kind regards,
Peter

Do these just bypass the amps?

Yes. Well, the Input Selector switch does, so set that in the "Ext Amp" (middle) position.

Quote
Is the horn/woofer crossover/DSP still applied.

Yes. So the amplifier(s) for the Bass remain active and they are now based on the signal of your external amp.

Quote
Assume the horn mid/high crossover is still applied with the passive crossover.

Yes, but differently; the Fletcher Munchon curves can not be applied any more (say that you'll have the "flat line" of them now). Also, the dedicated amplifier for the tweeter is not active any more. This is logic in itself (because that whole mid/high section is now fed from external) but it is good to know that this extra amplifier also takes care of the extra 3dB efficiency obtained, opposed to the "base" 115dB. So efficiency of 118dB drops to 115dB. And mind you, this is not because of that additional amp caused 3dB more f gain or something, but mysteriously and miraculously that extra amplifier is utilized (as well) for counterattacking anomalies in the mid driver. Think like 3dB dips being in there, that to be solved by attenuating the whole frequency range by 3dB except for the part of the dip, while that dip can also be boosted by an extra amplifier (say like DSP can do it).
You don't want to know what's all in there ! Happy[/quote]

Regards,
Peter
