136  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / Re: Analogue source still better? on: May 18, 2011, 03:26:24 pm
Yes I know it sounds like vinyl, but for me this looks like something went wrong with the making of the CD(/rip).
A part of the music is missing. My question then is how to get this back?
Can we hope for improved music in the future when the CD-makers start to use Hires?
Or should we only buy HiRes material to enjoy the music?
And in the mean time tell each other of the exceptions that still exist?
Ripping vinyl is not my intention yet, because I will need a better ADC since I hear still a difference between my vinyl and the digital copy I don't like.
I made another recording of Nick Cave and his voice gets to metallic/hard.
BTW, with a good setup vinyl sounds more like the Cart your using then the vinyl itself.
And of course the electronics are most of the times a big bottleneck.
137  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / Analogue source still better? on: May 18, 2011, 12:26:44 pm
Because I had some spare time I put some time in my vinyl setup, put a new old cart in and listened.
I was surprised with the quality of my old cart and found myself wanting to listen more everytime a record had finished.
Something I still miss with digital, but then I have no NOS1.
Wondering why I think one aspect of digital we/Peter cannot improve is the jitter in the recording ADC?

But to find out a little for myself I managed to record through the phase 24FW on Win7.
So to me it sounds better then the digital (flac) version, but is this only in my system/ears?
And what on a proper DAC like the NOS1.
So here is the download: (3 days 15 downloads max)

https://www.filemail.com/nl/dl.aspx?id=FANAMTMTMJRBKNC

Apart from a little extra distortion pops and clicks that anyone can hear I wonder what people hear?

Maybe the way to go is digitize my complete vinyl collection?? unhappy

Praphan,

Although 850 Watts is a lot, but are you shure the power supply is not causing a problem?
It seems this one is the only common factor except for the NOS1...

Nynke Laverman with 'Sylesalt' is my favorite frisian and dutch singer. Don't know if it's easy to find though.
She even sang at the weddingparty of our prins Willem.

the subsequent security and OS updates
Can you give names, numbers and dates?
This way we can check if we have them installed or not.
I am so naive to think updates make your system more secure and better, so I let them do this automatically.
Maybe it's true and my system does not sound anymore like it did before because of this...

When I installed z5 I had a similar problem so after some study I found out that AHK gets its path from a systemparameter that is set at the first start of XXHighEnd. I also had to remove the temporary data from Z4 and make the new directory C:\XXData.
I don't know if this is the complete answer to your problem but maybe it will help.
(I also had the additional problem that Z5 was in a wrong directory)

Well no sleep here anymore.
But times did not improve 70 en 4 seconds.
But who needs sleep anyway?
143  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Time taken for each action on: April 19, 2011, 09:40:09 am
My times:

Time for Stop Services after reboot = 45 secs

Time for track to start playing after stop services window closes = 5 secs
144  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Sceen disappears at startup on: April 16, 2011, 04:42:25 pm
Well I felt like a dummy when I saw it was still z-04 Wink
But before I just copied the new version in the C:\XXHE directory and it worked.
This way the shortcut and remote control don't have to be changed.
But maybe it's better to rename the directory and make a new one first.
Now the procedure is different then before, at least at my place.

CoenP, I think it is the same problem, but I was first!! tongue2

Well I am a dummy!
Installed in G:\XXHE iso C:\XXHE, a remnant of the Vista installation.
Added C:\XXData and put the tempororay files there and everything ok now.
(Saw a new version of the ahk-file too so I put it in it's place)

I checked with the second monitor on and works ok for now, but it is a noisy beamer so that's no solution.
But what I see too is the version number says Z4-01. Is this an alias for 5 or did I not install it the right way.
You say a lot about the new settingsfiles and directory, but not what we have to do to install it the right way...

OK. Found setup.exe, but shortcut still goes to Z4.1, strange...
146  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Sceen disappears at startup on: April 15, 2011, 09:49:28 pm
It happens when XX is finished and does not come up automatically, but stays at the taskbar.
I have to close it and start again. Sometimes even then it goes wrong and have to close and open again.
I have a dual graphicscard with the second screen disabled.
When it is enabled, it is on the right side, not on the left.
Maybe I'll have to check at ATI to see if it is a known bug.

but since I haven't filled in our famous tax forms yet ...
did you ?

Haha, I did last weekend so I was on time!
But this year was easy, not much profit for the bad economy unhappy
So more time for enjoying XXHE this weekend.
A lot of music I never played before and everything sounds wonderfull. Happy
150  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Network does not restart after stopping XXHE on: April 03, 2011, 03:07:43 pm
Peter,

After I stop XXHE the network is still lost.
I have to reboot to make it work again.
Very annoying because I have to get my 'new' music from another PC in the network.
I can do something myself for this or you will have to?
