I ordered a Hiface, but it seems we all have to wait a long time to get this precious object.
But now Peter made his engine 4 so worderfull I really wondered if a Hiface can still make it sound much better!
So keep us informed on your findings (and your mods!).

That's funny because I first used the Terratec and it sounded so good that I forgot I was using it.
Then with the Gigaworks-DAC there was not really a big difference

The special mode is shown in one of the log-files.

Q1 = 11, Q2,3=18, Q3,4=0, KS, engine4, DAP,
And now back to listening!

Is it only me or does this sound the best ever?
Lately I was trying to get the last bit of hardness out of some female voices,
but it is Peter who managed this!
I did not expect much from all these weird experiments and after startup I only got a lot of distortion.
So put Q1 higher and now it sounds perfect.
Only first impression but they count the most for me!
Silky highs and deep basses, all I ever wanted!

Now the issue of tracks stopping is only there for the first track...
Compared eng#4 with DAP and without AP: Without sounds very good and coherent, with DAP I can not listen to it anymore! It sounds incoherent, like something is missing but difficult to explain, finally OS influence? Really not nice anymore.
When going back to engine#3 I have to restart to get the DAC to accept samplerate of 44. 88 don't work anymore. Maybe a restart of the PC will help? Tomorrow...

BTW. KS works now (since prev.version) for Terratec phase 24FW with one entry for both SPDIF and loudspeakers! So no more apples and oranges.

So, got the phase 24FW working in 7.
Comparing it to the Gigaworks-Dac, both engine 3, the latter wins on extra information/space etc.
But comparing #3 and #4 on the phase makes the 4 a clear winner in the sense that going back and forth between the two you want to stay with the 4 and don't go back to 3 just to enjoy the music inmensely!
One song with bass, cello and guitar I can follow the line of the Cello, making a very 'emotional' performance while with engine 3 you still here all the parts but it's a bit more messy making it impossible to hear a fluid line and connect to that.

So we need a Kernel streaming driver for SPDIF!!

Just returned from Vista to 7.
Here I don't get #4 to work (Phase 24FW-problem) so only engine 3 double arc.
Only one apple, no orange, but this apple tastes very good!
I'm gonna finish it with a glass of Martini....

I felt like it is better on 7 now then on Vista (and 7 before) but all this strange kinds of fruit make A-Bing very difficult.
Hope to get #4 working soon,please! Because Peter's description was right to the point for me, more emotion, like analog.
But for now I don't miss it.

I was not used anymore to setting the samplerate manually.
So engine 4 with 88 kHz works.

It works here!
In XP with an audigy2 and headphone the music is stunning, never thougth this was possible with creative soundcards.
Only 44kHz working, not 96 or 192.

In Vista my old Phase 24FW was shown in the log but not in the devices in XXHE.
In the devices panel the phase was deactivated, so activate and restart and it showed in XXHE.
Also here only 44 kHz (32 bit).
SPDIF from motherboard Realtek HD apears not to have KS.
With engine 3 it still works ok.
So cheaper soundcard with engine 4 vs better dac with engine 3 ARC double:
Engine 4 wins!
So which SPDIF works?
HiFace?...
