Hi Johan,

How long did you wait after startup to start XX?
On my systen I first have to wait for the lsass.exe-proces to finish with all its disk-IO.
After that XX works OK.
I have no idea if this lsass-thing is necessary or can be shut off.
After installing SP1 the system took some time doing it's own thing too.

Maybe this happened to you?

Hi Gerard,

I put the dutch version yesterday, no problems so far!

You're welcome.

Thank you for giving us this wonderfull product!!!

Btw, my left is your right. I was afraid of that.
364  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Speed problem with 44/16 playback in U-8 version on: April 01, 2008, 12:11:55 am
Wow, sounds very good.
Now I can even sell my tapedeck, you even build in the dropouts.
In attended mode the dropout can last for 10 seconds, with the low pitched sound in one channel and after that maybe one second of normal sound before the end of the song.
In unattended mode the dropout lasts about a maximum of one second and then some 10 seconds of normal sound before the end.

Does this ring a bell or do you need more info?

You finished your tax already? Be shure to make a backup  Wink
365  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Speed problem with 44/16 playback in U-8 version on: March 31, 2008, 01:11:15 pm
a. yes
b. no check
c. no double, nothing checked
d. I'll have to find out tonight, still at work now.

It happened on different albums, maybe partly badly ripped but not all of them.
Also it happens allways on one channel and the other one is silent.
366  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Speed problem with 44/16 playback in U-8 version on: March 31, 2008, 11:17:59 am
In case you finished your tax (I didn't yet):
At the end of the songs the speed slows down and I get a few seconds of very low pitched voices.
It is at 44/16, attended and dac set to 192/32.
After a while the next song starts. (U-10 this is.)
Maybe not enough gas in the tank to finish the song?
367  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: New soundcard on: March 24, 2008, 05:11:39 pm
Hi Gerard,

This happened to me before with two different soundcards/pc's.
It was resolved by pushing the card more firm into the motherboard.
It is inconvenient but did the trick for me and is cheap too.

368  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Upsampling shifts to higher frequencies on: March 24, 2008, 02:56:27 pm
[This topic was split from Higher bit DAC & XXHE volume after this post]

Peter,
I'm confused a little too.
Does the Terratec-output (32bit) for 16/44 use the new or the old code and has this changed?
I tried to do some testing but wonder what it is I am listening to..
For now I feel upsampling to 88 makes the balance shift to the high frequencies and makes instruments sound less natural.
Could be the upsampling or the dac, I'll have to try some native 88/96 files.
369  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9u-6 early thoughts on: March 12, 2008, 07:26:39 pm
Hi Peter,

Do you know the site src.infinitewave.ca?
They show interesting testpictures of a lot of upsampling algorithms, most of them look very bad.
Even the ones that are reported by some to sound good look awfull.
I was hoping you could make one that sounds good and looks good, but that must be a very difficult challenge!
Maybe you can do the same tests they did, or find some clue what the competition is doing.
370  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Problem using XXHighEnd with Terratec Aueron 7.1 Space on: March 08, 2008, 12:27:22 am
Well, for me it has!
371  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Q2 ... could people bear it ? on: March 04, 2008, 04:51:46 pm
Yes maybe an other thread.
Before Vista shut down a host service and I had to do a hard reset of the laptop to get xx working again.
Is there something I can do about it?
372  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Q2 ... could people bear it ? on: March 04, 2008, 04:39:25 pm
So now it has become time to find the best setting for Q1.
Trying different settings from 26, 16, 14, 12, 10, 6,2, -2 with an mp3 file in attended mode I can not really hear the difference.
I only get crazy hearing the same song over and over again.
Then better play something I love, back to Cassandra.
Well with setting 14 I can hear the air going through her throte when she is breathing, with the other settings I only hear that she is taking a breath.
Then to unattended mode it get's really much more interesting, some more acoustics I think, more colour and drama.
So am I ready for Q2?

BTW, all samplerates and bitdepths are still supportd by the terratec.

And for the competition: Sometimes hickups at the beginning of a song, especially with higher samplerates, maybe my external usb-harddisk is not fast enough?
And when stop and play of the same song, sometimes using the scrollbar, the sound can be teletubbylike, after stop/start it is normal again.

Hi Peter,

The good news:
Upsampling to 88 is working in exclusive mode!!

The bad news:

Terratec phase 24 FW

If I change the DAC to 88 it says here everything for 88 is supported.
I guess for the rest too.
Strange..

OK let's try 44 -> It works in exclusive mode!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thanks for the good work,
I am going to enjoy it now!!
374  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Can't play with Terratec phase 24FW on: February 22, 2008, 12:29:50 am
Peter,

Your exclusivemode listing program would be welcome here too.
I just found out that 88/24 works exclusive with 'needs 32'.
Stupid of me I did not test this more thoroughly before!!
Then it would be possible!?! I'm sure 88 will be better than 96, gonna compare it tomorrow...
375  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 09.U-0a setup with external USB DAC on: February 20, 2008, 09:40:04 am
FWIW The Terratec is consistent with this too.
