16  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: My first Windows 8 experience on: February 03, 2013, 02:35:52 am
Maybe your list of processes in the setting area is not correct?
Cheers

Arjan,
To checkout new music, I sometimes play Spotify through the Phasure NOS DAC1. No problem, just turn a switch on the DAC.
And the SQ surprises me........

Peter,
this is a real TOP achievement!!
Total black background, which allows the music to dance in the room.
I now become aware that previously the artefacts had more influence on my experience than I was willing to admit. And now we are free (again) to enjoy the artists and their great creations.
Thank you very much........

Cheers

20  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Trojan warning? on: January 05, 2013, 10:36:08 pm
Peter,
ChangeWP.exe (version XXHighEnd-09-z8d-x) has been classified by HitmanPro as a Trojan.
There is no doubt in my mind that there is no problem with that program, but I wonder if I am the only one who is getting this warning, or someting else is going on in my environment?

Cheers,
Eric

I would call it: totally in balance.

Can't wait for it!
What is the main feature of 0.9z-8 Peter?
Or is it more like a collection of various things?

Cheers,
Eric
24  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: HPET Timer - Your new Tweak ? on: November 15, 2012, 10:58:47 am
Peter,
that is exactly what I did: testing with HPET off.
And yes, the default setting was on.
And I like the result in terms of SQ.
So, the tweak works for me in my setup.

I hope your confusion is gone now.
At least on this subject...... Wink.

Cheers

My first impression is that switching the HPET Timer off results in better SQ. The soundstage is wider and deeper, and more inviting to listen to details.
I am going to keep this setting for while.

26  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: Speeding up XXHE UI performance on: November 14, 2012, 02:26:36 pm
Peter,

Thanks for you extensive comment.
Since I just started to use the RAMdisk as the (only) pagefile, I do not have any final judgement on every effect of it.
What I *do* know is that my userexperience with the XXHE UI really got a boost from it.
Just for the heck of it, I like to invite others to invest 15 minutes to give it a try, and see what happens.

Cheers

If you like to move your XXHE UI experience to a whole new level of fast response, you should try the following:

How to make a ramdisk in windows 7 - YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zrecoX2nsOM

Basically you define your pagefile running in RAM.
If you like to use RAM as your XXPlay disk,
I don't believe it can work. However I didn't try.

28  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: HDCD Decoding Problem on: October 31, 2012, 09:50:47 am
Peter,
in my case I am having 1 album loaded in the playlist. All tracks of the album are HDCD. No mix with non-HDCD tracks.
The problem occurs only when I Stop and (re)Play the same track (say: t1). There is no problem when I Stop, select a different track (say: t2), and Play. I could Stop playing t2, and select and play t1 again: no problem.

After the Error message appears, I always first push the Stop button in order to remove the message. I also tested Play again after that. What happened is that usually the same problem occurred (Error message). However, occasionally the track starts playing without a problem!

I can live with the workaround above. So, although annoying, I would say it is just a minor problem.

Thanks for your efforts!
Cheers
Eric

30  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: HDCD Decoding Problem on: October 30, 2012, 08:38:24 am
Peter,
there is no SettingsPreset.XXSI file in the folder XXHighEnd-09-z7-5.
However there is a SettingsReset.tss file. You don't mean this, do you?

Cheers
