196  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Version 0.9y-2 feedback on: August 27, 2009, 10:49:11 pm
Peter,
when I load loooong playlist, I sometimes like to 'preview' what is coming. So I click on another track down the list to see the coverart of this track to come. While I do this, the music keeps on playing (I feel like a real DJ!). That is very nice, but now this new track is highlighted (of course) and I lose the position of highlighted track that is still playing. I tried to find what is currently playing under the Info-tab in XXHE, but there is only technical date and no name in there. Do you get a feel of what I am asking for?

Hello Peter,
I am quite happy with the drag-and-drop function that is now available. To my surprise, the tracks from all underlying folders are loaded into the playlist!! Veeery nice!! Happy
Question: playing attended (no wallpaper) and moving the cursor over the playlist, I forgot the name of the track that is currently playing. Is there a place where I can see the name (or path) of the track that is currently playing?
Cheers,
Eric

For the Coverart Out of Memory Issue : Please try below XXHighend.exe. Paste it over your current XX folder and let me know when it helps (it should Happy).

Edit : Forgot, this solves the doubleclick issue on the Coverart as well.

Peter,
this version 2a solves my Out Of Memory problem.
Thanks, Eric.

Peter,
Re 0.9y-1c.
Occasionally when I load a track and press Play, I get the error message  "XXEngine3.exe werkt niet meer" and the show stops. In trying to find out when this happens, it occurs to me that when it happens, I play from the C-disk. So far, it didn't happen when I play from another disk. However, not all tracks from the C-disk give this problem.
I never saw this happening in 0.9x-7.
I hope this helps you with debugging.
Cheers,
Eric.

Peter,
just to inform you that up to now, the poblem quoted above hasn't shown up in 0.9y-2. Moreover, the test that I created in my environment to generate it, now runs okay.

Thanks, Eric.

Peter,
the following simple test creates the problem (at least here).

1.Create a folder called MUSIC on you desktop.
2.In that folder, create a folder called ALBUM.
3.In the folder ALBUM, create 2 folders called CD1 and CD2.
4.Copy (at least) 1 track in the folder CD1. Any track will do, WAV or MP3. No other (hidden) files, just 1 track of music.
5.Start XXHE. Go to Library tab and use Search A on the path up to and including MUSIC.

Now the message Insufficient Memory shows up and XXHE gets stucked.
I am curious if the same happens in your environment.
Cheers, Eric.

Peter,
while I was loading galleries from the library area, the following error popped up. In the special case when an album contains more than 1 CD, AND no artwork is present in the album OR ANY of the underlying CD's: an out-of-memory message appears and XXHE gets stuck.
I work around it by manually stopping XXHE (ctrl-alt-del) and putting some artwork in the album or any of the underlying CD's.
Cheers, Eric.
202  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Version 0.9y-1d feedback on: August 24, 2009, 03:42:57 pm
Peter,
it has occurred to me that the order in which the albums appear in the library area is different from the standard Windows way. It happens when the album name contains "special" characters. For example, the artist Özay appears at the end of the list in the library area which is different in Windows. Same for the nordic band with the name A-ha. So it looks like you use a sorting algorithm in the library area that is different from Windows.
Not a big deal, but I got confused when I was looking for albums and couldn't find them.
Cheers, Eric.

Sounds like you want a Radio playing, and your happen to have all the tracks they are playing somewhere in your CD collection?
Ore, a little bit more sophisticated, you want to able to switch to a Radiostation that only plays e.g. Jazz music....

Eric

Thanks Peter,
I will be happy to test when the next version will be released.
BTW: what's your plan for it ?
Cheers, Eric.

Hello Peter.
My comments on version 0.9y-1d.
Unfortunately the 2 problems I reported before still exist.

1. Pressing Clear and Off does not permanently delete the playlist. The list will be back when XXHE is restarted.
2. Occasionally XXHE does not start. Happens with some tracks on C-disk. Error is persistent, can be recreated. Error occurs with both parameter ticked or unticked.

Other point: the AutoHotkey message keeps pointing to 0.9y-1c. How to change that?

In the mean time I will spend some time listening.
Cheers, Eric.

Peter,
Thanks for the morningjoke!
Normally I use my ML32 preamp, so no hurry for me.

Another behaviour in 0.9y-1c strikes me as odd.

After playing a playlist through 0.9x-7, I press Stop, Clear, Off. When I bring up XXHE again, no artwork from the previous session is shown anymore. IMHO this is good behaviour.

When I perform the same sequence in 0.9y-1c, it still shows artwork from the previous session. The way to get a clean screen is to use Delete before Off.
I do not like this change, is it my installation problem (now -for testing purposes- having both 0.9x-7 and 0.9y-1c on my desktop, what about AHK???), or is this change intentional?
Cheers,
Eric.

Please help.

Peter,
just some words as encouragement.
This version seems to be quite stable in my setup. I am in the proces of comparing SQ with 0.9x-7. My first impressions of 0.9y-1c SQ are good. I will come back to the subject later.
Cheers, Eric.
