136  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Windows 10 build 10074 expiration on: September 26, 2015, 09:48:30 am
Here's something to try if you can't get W10074 to boot with date set back. I can't test it because my pc's all boot happily in 2013.

wdf01000.sys is involved with verifying hardware drivers. We have different hardware so probably different different drivers installed. One or more of these is probably failing the verification process during boot because the date is set and confusing the process.

Something similar happens when I try to use a browser with date set to 2013, I get message "there is problem with website security certificate - it has expired or is not yet valid". Time travel is rather confusing isn't it"

So you could try this solution to disable the Verification process, its Option 2 :- http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Good luck

W10074 has been working fine for a couple of months now with date set back 2 years. Also its set not to sync with internet time although I have not connected it to internet. It survived going in and out of min OS as well. My pc is dual boot with W7 so that also picks up the date as 2013, even so W7 updated itself OK.

Just tried on another pc with w10074 but with current date set, it booted with the expiry message. I set date back 2 years, rebooted & works fine.

On these pc's w10074 has not been activated, perhaps setting date back does not worked if w10074 has been activated.

Maybe a fresh install of w10074 with system date already set back will work.

Michael

Your problem is probably that windows service - "Windows Management Instrumentation" is not running. This can happen when Windows does not shut down properly.

Via control panel - admin tools - services, double click "Windows Management Instrumentation" select start "Automatic" then click Apply then click Start Service. Start XXHE now it should be OK but you may need to set memory type back to "Straight Contiguous".

I have my system clock set back exactly 2 years, this should allow W10074 to keep running 2 more years.

I tried again Q settings Q3/4/5 1/1/1 and no OSD so this is the cause. It still played though & sound quality was good. Other setting as by profile.

I rebooted to normal OS & OSD worked.
Rebooted to min OS & OSD still works.
So problem solved.

OSD no longer shows during unattended play, just get black screen with mouse pointer. Previously it worked OK, problem started when I tried some different Q settings Q3/4/5 1/1/1 but going back to previous Q settings does not bring QSD back to life. Problem has persisted through several reboots. Log file attached.

Eventually I found out what was stopping installation on Samsung laptop. Could apply also to other PC's where installation freezes at blue window screen. I found post on web saying wifi card was causing the problem. I could not disable wifi in bios so found utube video on how to open samsung to enable wifi card removal and then W10074 installation proceeded OK, well not quite. I was doing dual boot install on W7 system and W10074 install would not accept partition for installation because drive was MBR not GPT. Well going to GPT would have meant wiping W7 so back on web for help & a surprising solution. I was trying to install from internal DVD drive, the answer was install from USB external DVD drive (maybe USB stick would also work). Isn't it nice to find useful info on web occasionally !

Perhaps we need a new thread for covering W10074 expiry:-

http://www.pagestart.com/win10tpbuildexp041215.html

I changed system clock in a test pc installation of W10074 to 22.9.15 and immediately got message that It would expire in October 2015.
Reset it to today, rebooted and still works without the expiry message.
Changed date to 2014, rebooted and W10074 still works. So this might buy some time for finding a proper solution.

BTW - internet sync time was turned off (not that we ever need to connect to internet). Also in EVENT VIEWER - WINDOWS LOGS there are records of the date changes but these can can all be cleared.

I installed a blank hdd but W10 installation stops at blue window just as before. So nothing to do with dual boot or existing OS. Tried what few options there are in bios without success. Abandoning hope with this Samsung.

Hi Peter

I've tried just DVD in boot list but same problem. This pc has fully up to date W7 whereas the pc I succeeded to set up a month ago did not have its W7 fully up to date. just wondering if a recent W7 update is causing the problem.

Thanks

Thanks Alain

In BIOS - security - HDD Password is Locked. Its cleared for one boot by powering off & removing battery for 30 sec. But even this did not enable W10 install to continue. I've raised problem with SAmsung  Support, maybe they will help.
