46  Ultimate Audio Playback / Interesting Music / Testmaterial / Kate Bush MQA on: July 31, 2019, 08:53:45 am
Most of Kate Bushes albums are now available on Tidal. The ones I've downlaoded so far are MQA44 but presumably benefit from deblurring even though they don't unfold to higher bit rate, I haven't compared sound quality yet.

For non Tidal subscribers they have been available to buy for a while :-

Pictures showing now did not have to do Ctl-F5. Perhaps the browser auto refreshed.

50  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / Re: Phasure Mach III Audio PC with Linear Power Supply on: March 03, 2019, 05:28:27 pm
MachIII Ethernet Speed:-
With my old PC I used a router ethernet connected to Audio PC to get RDC remote control. The router would not connect via ethernet with MachIII. On Peters advice I solved this problem by using Music PC to make RDC connection to MachIII and another RDC connection via wifi with the router to remote control. This works fine and only one ethernet connection to Mach III needed this way.
Subsequently I found out why router would not connect to MachIII. MachIII will only ethernet connect to 1G/s capable devices and my router was 100K/s max. So if you can't make an ethernet connection with your MachIII this could be the reason.

Bitdefender quarantined ChangeWP.exe as malware.
Restored it and working now.

Thanks

52  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XXHE Startup error on: December 18, 2018, 10:32:10 am
My copy of XXHE which connects to internet for Tidal downloads returns error message (see attached) during startup.

Tried a previous preset but get same error.

2.10 on up to date W10. 17134.471

Only change since it worked was update KB4471324 installed itself.

You don't need to convert FLAC to WAV.
XXHE will play FLAC, converting it automatically when you press PLAY.

Hi Peter

Its:- Custom Filter 352800 low (NOS)

It happens on peaks in music. Also on 0dB sine test tone, switch your amps off first if you try this.

Not particularly a problem, I posted this in case others are using 0dB & get cracks.

I got Crack Detect occurring recently but discovered my volume was 0dB in XXHE. Went back to my normal -3dB and no more Crack.
0dB with upsampling filters can cause Cracks, I think it was mentioned on the forum a while ago.

You don't need Virtual memory although it won't do any harm except maybe to sound quality.

Maybe you have a faulty RAM card, do a memory test, might be an option in bios to do it.

Hi Peter

The normal means of changing these setting would be within XXHE Normal OS booted from RAM-OS disk, Yes?.

But the time setting are correct already in this boot.

Its when I boot it from memory that the setting are wrong.

Patched 2.10 over 2.09 and booting from RAM-OS disk and TS is Stable, TPI is optimal. So all good & as they were in 2.09.

Start 2.10 from RAM however and TS is Not Stable, TPI is Not the best. Applied Refresh of course in both boots.

Other settings OK & same for both boots.

Just one recommendation:-
"Patricia Barber - A Distortion of Love"
Not new but only just available in MQA. Sound quality is up there with the best.
