106  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 2.11 Upgrade Patch download appears to be damaged on: April 04, 2020, 01:58:23 am
Joseph,

Are you using a .rar file extractor to first extract the files in the downloaded folder?

All fixed now!  Continue to listen.  Will post impressions shortly.  So far quite stunning.  Thank you Peter! This was a labor of love for sure.

Ignore my note above.  I screwed up!!  I accidentally installed the FULL 2.11 files on top of 2.10c.  I just tried adding just the patch files, but I think I've lost the activation on XXHE.  Will try to figure this out.

First.  2.11 sounds incredible.  More on that soon...

BUT. I have one issue with installation.  I get an unhandled exception error message with the details below.  If I continue the installation I can run 2.11 but I cannot activate MinOS.  It's almost like the XXHE is not activated.  I can use 2.10c to boot into MinOS, and play 2.11 that way.  But something messes up with the installation on my machine.

the 2.11 label on the XXHE window shows up in grey, but then turns red, so it appears to be activated.

The Tallis Scholars have some beautiful performances of Christmas masses.  Have been listening yesterday and today.  Glorious and uplifting!

As with so many perceived problems, this one can be attributed to USER ERROR!  It turns out that my mouse was accidentally de-selecting the album I wanted to move from "Temp" to "Streams". Once I made sure that the selection stayed highlighted, the transfer has been working reliably.
113  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Tidal Move to Streams Folder Not Working Reliably on: December 15, 2019, 06:27:36 pm
Peter,

The "Tidal" drive is a USB drive attached to the machine that has XXHE on it, so I refer to it just by the drive name (D:\XXTemp, and D:\XXStream). I could try to reinstall XXHE on the new machine, but I suppose I would need to activate again if I did that.

All,

Just set up a new machine to prepare Tidal streams for playback.  Everything works well--searching and preparing.  Except that after preparing the Streams, the "Move to Streams Data Folder" does not work reliably.  Sometimes the files are moved from the "Temp" folder to the "Streams" folder, and sometimes nothing happens.

This is not a huge problem as I can move the files with Explorer.  Wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

Peter,

I was referring to a statement from you on the forum

"The only thing to take into account - and this is for G3 owners only - is that the small piece of USB cable which goes out and into the left leg, better not carry USB power. And I only say this because I think it sounds worse with power (and quite noticable)."

Does the standard short cable that comes with G3 remove USB power?

Quick update on this.

USB FIFO/Stream errors are almost entirely gone.  What needed to be done was a lot of small things.  In the process I learned that many elements affect the Lush^2.  Some examples: ferrite chokes on HDMI cables, power cords nearby, dimmers, etc., etc.

The BIG discovery, however, was that once these sources of noise were eliminated, I switched back to the standard small black USB cable to connect Phisolator to G3, and it undoubtedly sounds MUCH better than the short Clarixa cable I was using.

Went through the forums again, and realized I simply rediscovered what others had found (Anthony, Peter, etc.).  I imagine the standard USB cable with the G3 has the 5V disconnected.

Been listening for a day now, and the SQ is the best I have heard it.

Peter,

I will do this and post.  Take the DAC cover off and photos of the left leg with the USB connections.

I might have posted prematurely.  I still have USB Stream and FIFO errors, although for some hours after re-connecting everything they were reduced considerably.  Wondering if anyone else has this particular problem with the sensitivity using the Phisolator and has solved it.

All,

For some time now, I've been struggling with USB Stream and FIFO errors with the Phasure DAC, especially when connecting with the Phisolator in-line.  I tried various buffer settings, SQ settings, Phisolator cables (long, short, etc.).

Today I decided to re-arrange all the components so there was NO sharp curve in the Lush^2 cable.  All the errors are gone.  I do not know if just reconnecting everything fixed it.  But I suspect there was one sharp curve at the Phasure side that may have created all the problems.

I would recommend to everyone using the Lush^2 to make sure that the connector is a straight as possible.

Of course, the SQ is absolutely fantastic with the Phisolator, so I'm happy for now.

Nick,

This seems to be precisely the problem I had.  I replaced the short USB cable with another one, a short Clarixa that I had from when I was using the Intona box.  So far it has worked well.  Very few, occasional glitches, but nothing like before.
