31  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: W10 strange driver behavior on: August 28, 2015, 02:35:28 pm
I installed the 1.04 driver as well.
However, the samplerate cycling persists until I start playback in XXHighend.
Sometimes playback needs to be restarted several times until things work.

Also as mentioned before, Windows sound does not work with either driver, so for the time being, XXHighend is the only player I can use under Windows 10 (build 10074).

Hopefully, we all soon know if the current Win10 build is also as good in SQ as the 10074 build so we can potentially switch to a regular Win10 version.

I also installed the 1.04 drivers yesterday.
For me there was a perceived change in SQ.

Namely:

- Deeper, lower bass
- more clarity, presence in upper/midtone

But I still have the open question which is:
Only XXHighEnd produces sound, any other software player is not working.

One thing I want to add here using Windows 10.

The only player that is working is XXHighEnd.

The windows sound does not work at all.

When I go to the sound settings in Windows, I cannot play any sound.

Sound currently works in XXHighend but nowhere else.

Well the problem for me only occurs after a reboot.
Once XXHighEnd is running and playing, the sample rate problem is solved until the next reboot.

As stated in another post,  I am out of my shoes.

Another layer is gone, giving more clarity and live impression.

You guys cannot image what I am hearing here with my Abyss Headphones Wink

Nick

I think this is really a matter of taste. I like the more controlled bass of W10 /2.02 much better with my Abyss Headphones.

Today I decided to fully switch to the Windows Platform (from the Mac) because I like it so much.

The bass as it is with Win10 / 2.02 sounds just perfect.

I am out of my shoes.

Updated my signature.

Paul, what do you mean with the "last install"?
Did you do several Win10 installs?

I also tried 1.04 first and then when this strange sample rate changing occurred, I installed 1.03.

But 1.03 did not help to solve that.

Hi Peter

I just installed the recommended build 10074 (German version 64bit).

Not sure if the title really describes what is going on.
So I installed W10 and 2.02 and all seems to work.

However, when I boot up windows before I start XXHighend the first time after reboot, Windows does not recognize the NOS1a at all.
In the control panel I see the device but the sampling rate is changing randomly 2-3 times per second.
Then when I start XXHighend and try to play something for the first time after reboot, I might get the error "Cannot set sampling rate". It usually takes 2-3 tries until I get playback.
After that, Windows also recoginzes the NOS1a and this crazy ample rate switching stops even if I quit XXHighend.

Anyone observed the same behavior?
I tried both drivers 1.04 and 1.03, no difference.

Thanks, Michael

I will try that eventually on a different SSD

However, I was only able to grab 10134, which is now the current version.

Hi Peter

After rebooting a couple of times, HQ Player works as before.

However, the sampling rate switching is still a problem.

I believe this is a problem with HQ Player and I will send a note to Jussi.

I will report my findings once I know more.

Apologies for the fuss.

43  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Driver 1.04 feedback on: May 30, 2015, 07:44:09 pm
Hi

So far i am not really happy with driver 1.04.
HQ Player does not only work up to 192 kHz.
With 1.03 it worked up to 705 kHz.

Did you change anything Peter?

I know you officially do not support HQ Player but this way, the new driver is useless.

I was hoping to get better support of HQ Player.

44  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Problem with installing driver 1.04b by means of Remote Desktop on: May 30, 2015, 03:29:38 pm
Peter

I am using Microsoft Remote Desktop on my Mac.

It did not display all those pop-ups, if you want to install anyway.

Therefore install failed.

Once I was directly working without remote, i could confirm to install anyway.

45  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Problem with installing driver 1.04b by means of Remote Desktop on: May 30, 2015, 03:18:24 pm
Solved it.

Tried to install by remote.
Since driver is not signed, some of the warnings were not shown via remote.

So driver install HAS to be installed directly on HighEnd PC.

Will do some testing now but I will assume that now things will work.

Best, Michael
