16  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Save Library Result List error on: August 22, 2012, 08:44:01 am
hey Peter,

I have been following the tutorial on saving library search lists ( http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=2057.0 ), but every time I right click on the "F" (Favorites) button, I get an error message box appearing that reads "No Library Files found in the Data Folder". If I left click on the button the Favorites list appears, so that part works OK.

I have tried it on 2 on my PC's here and the error is the same on each.

Any idea what I am doing wrong ?

ta ..

Do you mean now you have reverted to the old "yellow" ? So, once there you need to re-login every time ?

Yep .. back to the old yellow scheme which is easy on the eye. Technically I don't have to re-login in each time provided I don't logout before closing down the browser, but I have got in the habit over the years of accessing all forums as a guest unless I want to add a post. No biggie for this forum though .. I'll try and remember not to logout on the PC's in the house and on my phone and tablet.

"Don't be Shocked" - I am shocked - I feel as though I have just been Tangoed.

P

My eyeballs are only now just starting to recovery .. haha.

I quickly reverted back to the original (Phasure) scheme. Interestingly enough, only 9 others so far have done that. One side effect of the new default colour scheme is that I have to logon now each time I want to quickly check the latest posts, or else I need to reach for my sunglasses Wink

I'm sure that most realise the Dutch national colour is ORANGE, but sadly for me, it's a little too overwhelming when used currently. Perhaps Green & Gold might work better  naughty

19  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-6 or 7 - Wallpaper at Attendend Playback on: August 18, 2012, 04:21:25 am

I saw Ritenour three times live, one of the greatest guitar players..

 OffTopic

Indeed he is. I discovered him in around 1988 when I bought his "Festival" album, and have been collecting most of his albums since, including his collaborations with others such as Grusin and Carlton, and his time with Fourplay initially. A truly gifted artist.

Co-incidentally, I was listening to "Two Worlds" yesterday Happy

One disadvantage of living on a huge island in the middle of big oceans is that a lot of the world's best artists don't visit very often, but I guess that makes those visits more memorable when they do occur. Regrettably, I have never seen RT play live.

Now I mark xxh at the middle button (minimize) on the upper right corner, xxh is still full screen (but I can move  xxh with the original size), start play and the wallpaper does not show up.

ummmm .. maybe it's a typo or the German beer is stronger than over here, but as far back as the first version of Windows, the middle button of that cluster has been the MAXIMIZE/RESTORE button. The one on the LEFT is used to hide any programs GUI. The middle button is used to expand to full screen and when pressed again to RESTORE to its PREVIOUS SIZE. If the previous size was almost full screen to start off with, then of course it will still hide whatever is underneath.

Just trying to help out a fellow Ritenour fan Happy

21  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Skins - Post in here on: August 16, 2012, 04:14:53 am
Thought I might start a thread for us to post our GUI presets for others to try.

When posting, can you include a screen shot of the control buttons section so we can see at a glance how your buttons and colour scheme work together. Also mention the Font used.

Presets are loaded via the Gradient Designer, and images from within the Skin Settings panel.

Here's my first basic foray into this:

Font = Times New Roman
Button Background Image = "glass buttons (grey).jpg"
Gradient Preset = "grey_02.XXGS" ( place in your "Data Folder" )

Right click on the attachments below and "save link as" to your PC.

I prefer solid dark schemes, so I have the vertical slider on the extreme left at its uppermost position.

When time permits I will explore the other skin image options, but for now, this is easy on the eyes and readable.

Post away !

Cheers,

Russ

Peter ... not sure where I should have posted this so move if necessary.
22  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Huge processor load 0.9z-7 on: August 15, 2012, 10:41:28 am
G'day Gerard,

if it's any help, I'm running a E8400, but overclocked slightly ( 10%) so it effectively runs at 3.3Ghz. My CPU graph below shows the load running unattended under minimal system config, with 48 buffers for my Juli@ card, and a Q1 of 7.

I believe your CPU load will increase as the Q1 value is decreased, so perhaps you might try raising your Q1 a little if you currently have it low. I currently have SFS set at 315, but I don't think that affects the continuous load. Those spikes you see on my graph are at SFS boundary I think, and the last is at track boundary.

Hope this helps a little for reference.

Russ

The problem is that I did not get the dongle software driver by mail from you.

I also haven't received the drivers, so I suspect Peter is holding them until he is satisfied all the relevant bugs related to its operation are sorted.

Still plenty of other aspects to keep us occupied Happy

Any comments from the Beta testers regarding the BT remote control?

Mike

That hasn't been tested yet Mike. Well, I haven't. Perhaps Peter is keeping it from me .. haha

... and trying to find a single word that describes the difference from earlier versions ....

Since spending a little more time with it I've though of another word ....

.

.

.

.

.

.

WOW!

There is still work going on behind the scenes to get some bugs squashed so the rest of you can enjoy it from the start fuss free, so hang in there. It will be worth the wait and Peter is as keen as can be to get it to everyone.

I've been listening to 0.9z-7 for a few hours in total now and trying to find a single word that describes the difference from earlier versions and I think that "harshness" sums it up. 0.9z-7 seems devoid of any remnants of the usual digital hardness I was used to, with the net result being a very smooth sound. I hate to use the term "analogue sound" as to me that conjours up images of turntables and the inherent problems they have, so perhaps I will simply say it all sounds "lifelike" and "natural". This smoothness is not to the detriment of detail though, as that is still there in abundance.

Still playing with the setting and I expect that will continue for a few days to come as I explore their new influence, but I'm sure you all will thoroughly enjoy the new sound when the last few obvious bugs are squashed, which hopefully won't be too much longer.

Regards,

Russ

Peter,
what does "Ph - Strength" mean?

Cheers,
Eric

I'm guessing we are going to be pouring various mixtures of bases and acids over our PCs.

hehe ... that was my initial thought path also. Perhaps it actually stands for "Peter's Handiwork"  Grin

Change it to a good old BBS (Bulletin Board System) and save heaps of bandwidth. Nobody needs all these fancy fandangled GUI's to communicate. If you want to liven it up a little you can always create some stunning ANSI art to embed  whistle

No. This really can't do the job. 7" and 1280x800 ? waaaay too low.

Perhaps we should simply agree to disagree on this size point Peter Happy The AMOLED screen on MY tablet is superb, and almost universally acclaimed as the best in the business. I have no issues browsing websites with small text, and everything is crystal clear, even at very oblique angles nearing 90 degrees. It all comes down to readability in the end, and if a particular tablet has a cr*ppy screen, regardless of size, then the usability is certainly compromised.

Cheers,

Russ
