1  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: AMD Ryzen Threadripper on: October 11, 2017, 04:28:00 pm
Thanks Peter for your reply.

So the number of cores does affect the sound quality...

By the way I am actually a little bit puzzled about Mach II PC having linear power supply (which is very inefficient by the essence of Linear Power supply) and also having switching secondary power supplies already on the motherboard (unless they are manually removed)  and those secondary power supplies can be very noisy (electrically).

Hi Peter,
can you elaborate on building of an AMD Threadripper sound pc?
A lot of CPU cores for reasonable price...
Will XXHighEnd work with Threadripper or any other Ryzen?
What are your thoughts about this topic?
Thanks in advance!

Ok, it seems I have solved the issue by completely deleting XXHighEnd-207 folder and then unzipping and running (unnecessary?) Setup.exe in the new folder. I have good sound now as I have had from W10 Enterprise LTSB trial mode Wink
Which services I can kill (disable) in W10 Services Manager and which are absolutely necessary for a smooth run of XXHighEnd?
I am not going to use the machine for anything else but music playing. Maybe only converting flacs to wavs.
Sorry for duplicate log file and here is the right one:
5  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / No sound after 10 sec on: January 25, 2017, 01:27:22 pm
Hi Peter,
doing preparation for activation and making permanent setup, I have just installed XXHighEnd 2.07 on a Windows 10 Home 64-bit (build 14393.0).
However the sound disappears after 10 seconds of playing (the sound was also with terrible distortions during those 10seconds).
I rebooted PC but that did not help.
Also the Player for some reason launches itself after I close its window...
I also tryed XXHighEnd 2.07 on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB 64-bit (build 14393.576) (in a trial mode not activated, of course) to test only and there is no problem with sound at all.
However I am going to use W10 Home for my music machine so I need to solve this problem.
I am attaching logs from the problematic machine...

No Peter, not that one but

04 | Installation guide for Dummies
It has Vista and all old staff as well....

I was confused by having Setup.exe file in the unzipped folder and that RunThisFirst.bat.  wacko

Now you explained it all right. Thanks!

Hi Peter,
what is current proper installation procedure of XXHighEnd?
there is RunThisFirst.zip file to download...
But what does this .bat file actually do?
In the unzipped XXHighEnd-207 folder there is Setup.exe as well. Do I need to run it first and then only run XXHighEnd.exe?
It seems that XXHighEnd.exe works perfectly without execution Setup.exe and RunThisFirst.bat.
Can you clarify this? The installation guide on your website seems to be out of date...
Thanks in advance!
(I am on a brink of purchasing the license as the SQ is really amazing so far)
9  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Driver Signing Change? on: January 20, 2017, 02:51:15 am
Andre,

As fas as I know it doesn't. But it has been made for "stupid" Windows 10 quirks (no drivers available for many devices - at least at first) and I use it myself for our Phasure NOS1a DAC which now comes with non-signed drivers.

Regards,
Peter

Thanks, Peter
Should I click change and reboot or leave it as is?

Hi Peter, can you explain what this means and how  can this affect SQ?
11  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Error message on: January 16, 2017, 02:15:38 pm
Hello Peter!
I am trying out a demo version 2.07 on various Windows 64-bit setups.
On windows 7 ultimate and Windows 8.1 Pro I load only one track to check sound quality and effects of different settings of SQ. However after some time (randomly) the playback stops and I got a message that "ActiveX control ... cannot be instantiated because the current thread is not in a single thread apartment".
Windows 10 does not give me such warnings.
Here is a snapshot
