Was about to ask about your findings on this, but with HDCD.exe available i could only imagine it will be in the next version.
anyway, would be insanely great to find and restore studio/recording flaws, maybe impossible, who knows.
Something is going on, maybe these Pacific Microsonics are just right.

How many other recording (software, mastering) systems are being used elsewhere ?

OMG OMG,

Already applied the Juli@ with a direct spdif coax-output instead of Toslink, but did not really had a change to listen.
I only checked the new coax output with a cheepo analog cable with those ugly connectors, to test if it worked.
It did.....

And now it does........
Just put a homemade coaxial Digital interlink between the juli@ and my DAC.
Its a Belden 1694a coax cable with those Eichmann Silverbullits.


I prefer I2S over anything, thanks to Peter i had that change to experience.

But for the time being, I am very happy this tweak.

The hights became more crystal and very very sparkling, but remain smooth.
Soundstage is a little wider, but defenitly more into the front and back
Bass is deeper and faster, into the mids and mids more into the hights, it makes it more complete.
No more "gaps" in the soundstage.

If you can handle a solder, just put a decent BNC or 75ohm RCA connection on *her*.
And help the lady off her cold.

I give this tweak an 8+, sonicly much better.

PS: Its also possible to completly lift the spdif side of Hanrun transformer, and connect your spdif directly on the transformer.
without making connection to the lines on the PCB.
So disconnect all other output lines after the Hanrun transformer.

If you want to use Coaxial SPdif you have to mod the juli@,
The Hiface is standard coaxial, with either RCA or BNC
These cards are indeed the best cards in that price range, for you a not so expensive solution, untill NOS1 arrives.
As you know for NOS1, its finished when its finished !?

Since last W7 and BIOS update, I got Hotswap working on my mobo even with AHCI. (plug and play)

I just checked-out DB poweramp with HDCD plug-in, very handy this way, because it checks a lossless file for HDCD info
before converting. (Because sometimes there is no info that the album is actually a HDCD)(also good marketing move)

"This little tool will input the 16-bit WAV data and if it finds the embedded HDCD info, it will upconvert it to 24-bits. The last 4 bits of this 24-bit file are empty, so your DAC just sees it as a 20-bit file"

It creates a 24bit file because otherwise you can not convert it to FLAC for eg. (does not support 20bit) leaving you still with a big file.
Now you have a HDCD FLAC file (or whatever lossless file)

Interesting because I can truly compare the files using DAP with XX.

Now if you have a remote with cursor-keys (←↕→ ) then you could use them too function the cursor macros of keyboard too.
And scroll thru library of xx.
Now if there is only a way to select an album, I don't know if that blue highlighten layer of windows accepts a means of selecting
something ?? (a file needs to be clicked on one time (not hoover) before the enter button opens anything)
 

I think it should have two types of scrolling, thru gallery and thru library window.

Your system should have a latency of 7-14us (just xx playing) range, with a max of 200us sometimes.
Even when my system is at full load, it never exceeds the 300us range.

This is with a 9800gtx videocard in there full aero etc,

Try that "high performance" setting !
