Sounds great Roy. Are you using AP with the high res material? Just wondering.

No the max for my DAC is 88.2Khz, So can only do DAP on 16/44 (redbook)
I think HiRez material is little useless for now (for me)
There are a lot a different processes to make hirez, not all are good.
So out of 200 albums maybe 25-50 are decent sounding, do you know wich one before buying.
This becomes a costly journey, there should be more info about the "means" of making such albums. (equip. used)
However this also says nothing about how an album will perform on your system.
Eventually most of these albums are the clay in hands of studio-engineers, I could be anything.

Hi Boleary,

I also did some testing,
Like you did with #3Engine DAP (Lat.2048) wich I also prefer for now.
I think I stay with #3Engine for a little while, then make a switch to KS with #4Engine.
All music styles will pass my ears that way.
But have to admit, hands off #3Engine for now, haha
So think Peter did some rewriting on 4, it sure has potential.
Don't give up on that, yet.

I got hold of a some of Sheffield LP-recordings (tnx ;-))
Did played them last night but could not play to loud, but what I heard was sure good Q.
Good separation, a thing #4Engine lacks or has to much, its to wild somehow.

Also in today, some real chill HQ Tech-House albums (vinyl)
Terry Lee Brown Jr. - Terry's Cafe

God Damm, it sure sets new standards, definitely !

(Foottapping effect is really high)
319  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Is there a list of keyboard shortcuts for XXhighend? on: February 03, 2010, 12:12:17 pm
EventGhost works nicely overhere,

Just drag/drop the buttons from left to right.
It worked in like 3 minutes last night.
I could have done it in like 1 minute, but the play-button doesn't work. {ALT+P}
I think this is xx (AHK) problem.

I think anyone can install a remote this way.
Any kind, I guess
Also X-10 support. (RF for lightning)

http://www.eventghost.org/docs/
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X10_(industry_standard)

You can even create your own ambilight this way.
Or whatever.

I don't know if there are still people without remote ??

This time it didn't fit in Steve Jobs pocket (IPad)

Did Steve got smaller, haha

 rofl

And humour sometimes !

Thnx easternlethal,

Nice, hope you get the AHK's working, but this shouldn't be a big problem, I guess.
I was thinking about getting that start-up module myself.
If you have any questions just post them, no problem
Let "us" know if all works out with your personal xx remote.

anyway I have paid for my program so I feel entitled to ask reasonable questions here.

Feel free to....not entitled (progress only goes this fast because people willing to share info, data and experiences this benefits all) Wink

Sounds somewhat nicer IMO
There only friendly people here, with no commercial means, you get best service anywere.
Calibrator (who made that topic anyway) always at your service like many other people here.
The forum is not always logic, but most is there, even humour sometimes
Even then xx is still to cheap.

Enjoy your music

Best,

Roy (Just a happy user)

Hey guys! I am using a Logitech Harmony Remote with Eventghost to control XXhighend, and the only way I can do that is to map my remote buttons to keyboard presses, which works very well.

Hi there,

Would you tell us what you have between the Logitech Harmony Remote and Eventghost.
Wow what kind of receiver do you use ??
I use WinLirc (IR-Assistant) with homemade IR Serial Port Receiver ($5) and it doesn't work flawless so......always looking for something else  Wink

Thnx

And does it work for you? or is EventGhost the answer ?
324  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Engine#3 Vs Engine#4 comparison on: January 25, 2010, 05:00:05 pm
If latency does nothing but changing SQ
OK,

When you want a TRUE compare of for eg. upsampling vs no upsampling you should adjust latency accordingly.
Why ?

When you double the samplerate you half the latency as your using the buffer up twice as fast

So should there be bigger buffers when using QAP or oct-AP,
to keep smooth sound ??
 Happy

So, QAP can only be better then DAP (@ 2048) if Latency goes above 2048 to lets say 4096
or WOW how low can we go right now, without SQ changes.
if TRUE compare upsampling: DAP set @1024 vs QAP set @2048
Right ?

I can imagine this is not a nice thing for the volume control and overall speed (it will take longer again)

Hi, (feel I little like Youp van 't Hek with his Buckler beer, only he enjoyed it !) hehe

Thnx Peter for your great explanation and exploration, somewhat the same I had.
Your communicative skills good as ever, you saved me.
To be honest I've been quite lost for a while (kinda lost interest, not in the subject at all, but in the general SQ)
But this discovery only came to me with listening to the 0.9y-5 series.
Now I know what I've missed, because "its" back.

Shulman --->> #3Engine3 DAP (Lat. 2048) --->> Ears--->>Brains--->> WOW WOW Stunning. very happy

PS: Gerard I think NOS1 will do very good right now, make me jealous, haha (Do grab that change in this state, must be best ever !) Wink
326  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Burst of white noise in 0.9y-5-03 - engine 4 / KS on: January 22, 2010, 08:48:08 am
Hi,

Downloaded the 0.9y-5-03 update as only the second user. Made a new directory. Copied everything from 0.9y-5-02 folder to it and and unpacked the two files from 0.9y-5-03 on top.

Quote
Important : The zip below contains XXHighend.exe and XXEngine3.exe only; paste those over the original 09y-5-00 install, and that one only.

Maybe this causes it all
327  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Engine#3 Vs Engine#4 comparison on: January 22, 2010, 12:25:04 am
Earl Klugh - Naked Guitar (acoustic guitar) for eg. sounds better with #3Engine, IMO
 Happy

#3Engine gives it just that little warmth to the instrument while #4Engine makes it more .........?? distorded
328  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Engine#3 Vs Engine#4 comparison on: January 22, 2010, 12:14:48 am
Try Al Di Meola - Casino\02 - Chasin' the Voodoo for eg.

I think the guitar is cleaner on #3Engine but the percussions are better on #4Engine.
I mean some parts are better on #3 than #4 and v. v.
329  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Help with Kernel Streaming 0.9y-5-01 on: January 21, 2010, 11:59:43 pm

But about your question ... I'll let you know this weekend, and whether it makes an audible difference (to my ears).

oh ?
 Happy
330  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: Engine#3 Vs Engine#4 comparison on: January 21, 2010, 11:56:43 pm
I do understand why you like #4Engine, I like it (that) too, don't understand me wrong.
I will try to pinpoint this more exactly, with some tracks somewhere tomorrow.

It differs with music styles, I don't get it myself 100%. (but what to expect after just 1 day)
When parts become more complex, it can get into the direction of distortion (or preceived as)(have to compare)
This has nothing to do with wrong setup or something like that.
All sounds very nice, both engines for sure are better than the previous version of xx (0.9y-4)
This was just my first impression, but it does sounds very interesting.

Good to hear, it does great for you. ( I can only imagine)

I'am very happy with you bringing us back on the right track with the 0.9y-5 version.
4 was to clean, to analitycal.

For now more enjoyment ! more lively on both engines anyway
