Good,

See my pic 5.

Try those settings, scheme 3, player prio = low, ThreadPrio = Realtime and try Q1 = 4 or try 14

then fool around with ARC

Pic 1 = How to attach pics on forum (use Snipping Tools in W7 to make them very handy tool)
          (Click addittional Options)
Pics 2,3,4 are your soundcard settings (use speaker Icon to get there, Right under on desktop)

See pic2 for Default device, you can disable all others (just Right click and disable)
ONLY keep SPdif (but make some screen shots first, so we can see whats there)
             (maybe AES ???)
Pic 3 and 4 speak for them selfs

Pic 5 = are XXHE settings

Maybe You already know this, but just to be sure
And follow Peter's leads!!
Maybe get some AES16 Software screen shots

PS: very nice "stuff" you have there, indeed (when its going to work, it will ROCK)

All works flawless here, (I am on latest version, with W7 RC build 7100, yes)

Very happy with how it sounds.

Different set-ups can cause different problems. (don't worry)

My friend is here to listen to some music, for a couple of hours.
So have to go............

 whistle

Cool nickname btw (this what you experienced first time hearing xx, I guess) haha

Peter will sort it out together with you, I know for sure.(all problems will be sorted out)

Then you will experience Engine3, that is the real deal.

Nice one Ivo,

http://www.msfn.org/board/windows-7-rtm-32-64-bit-updated-t137765.html

It can do W7 as well.............!

Will try it in the future

PS: If you can install programs too, its a kind of BACK-UP

443  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Windows 7 - shall I do it ? on: October 30, 2009, 05:57:40 am
I've had W7 sitting on my shelve for since Monday now .... but I'm too scared to change 'perfection'.  Ah ignorance is bliss.  But the devil inside me says ... 'but, but... try it...'

PS
I think AUDIODIDAKT is the devil speaking inside my head... out, demon out.

LOL prankster very happy

Its a lot of work, I know, but we have to move forward, haha
Don't know for sure if it sounds better, but I think it does, so if you are in for challenge.............

Some back ground: I have had so much trouble with Vista (NOT XX RELATED), I fully trust W7 as the better OS.
Especially with SSD, really it is better and sure faster. (Peter will be joining us soon)

445  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: Help me find a new DAC on: October 27, 2009, 04:46:41 pm

My experience says not to use an extra soundcard, but I guess depends on hardware (PC/DAC) and cable

For me its the other way around, I really need a soundcard, I did some listening a couple of months ago, The onboard sound device is really horrible, dead, no dynamics, boring. (also Gigabyte)
I'am still on a Toslink, will modify my soundcard next week, and try a coax (I have good experiences with the coax Belden 1694A or use the 1505A)
Toslink and xx always sounded "good" to me, so there was no rush to "upgrade" to coax.
But I have the parts still laying around.

Nice to see people playing around with the Hong Kong DAC, its that cheap, so why not.
Good choice

446  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: ReClocker Views on: October 26, 2009, 10:23:12 pm
I think using a word-clock is always better. (especially with the normal crystal in there, this isn't ment for audio)

I have build-in several clocks for friends of mine several years ago (LC-audio clock and tentlabs clock)

I find it very usefull
447  Ultimate Audio Playback / Chatter and forum related stuff / Re: ReClocker Views on: October 26, 2009, 10:11:09 pm
Can you explain "reclocker",
Do you mean a word-clock or XO clock ?

Or am I missing something ?
448  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: Maybe a desktop afterall..... on: October 26, 2009, 04:45:00 pm
The Gigabyte MoBo I have is an overclockers-board, with better power-lines or something like that because it sounds really good
It also has an onboard T.I (Texas Instruments) FW connection.
It costs about 150-160 euro range, maybe cheaper already.

No falling in sleep here.

Roy, I was wanting to use the Juli@ as an inexpensive means of getting music to my DAC, via spdif. Using the Juli@ as the sound device, are you able to us arc prediction upsampling?  How does it sound?

Yes, I can use ARC (in my case only double, depends on DAC ofcourse), and it sounds good too, there is a Toslink and for coaxial you have to use a thingie suplied with the juli@,
I still have to modify the card with a decent RCA connector. (see pic)

450  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: WMA Lossless on: October 25, 2009, 04:29:14 pm
I don't think it plays WMA files, but you can convert them to 24/96 FLAC
Use Foobar or something like that to convert them to flac
