496  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / XXHighEnd Model 0.9-y3 - Gallery Cache on: September 05, 2009, 03:33:23 am
Gallery is absolutly as fast as it can gets, Shocked

So, max Thumbnail Cache Size = 1920

Amazing!

But it works a little strange, have to point this out! (caches only 1 genre at the time)

Why not keep all in cache.

WOW,

Now this is nice,
Especially that making folder.jpg files.(the other way around)

I stumbled on all changes, and all being fixed at once, great.

Today new version, some new HiRez material, it gets better and better. Wink

Hi Peter,

Unattended is definitely better than attended; no doubt about that. However with my set up I still find that the high's are a bit harsh & bold. Tried various Q settings but none improved this. Wonder what is causing this since it appears that I am probably the only one hearing this?

Arvind

Hey Arvind,

Not emplying anything here, just out of interest, can I see your speaker specs and x-over layout.

Like I said just out of interest.

I think its like this: Unattended has become better, and Attended has become more sensitive to cr*p going on in your PC. (and thats audible)
 Happy

So The difference has become bigger

Telstar,

Try Unattended, YOU ARE IN CONTROL, REALLY!

I like it now, and before I didn't.

ALT-X brings xx back in a flash, press stop and xx brings back wallpaper, press "I" button and brings back desktop icons.

And when loading files to C: you actually see xx do that. (instead of leaving us in the dark)

And,

When swapping the Spinning disc for a SSD, I have reported that I have lost some bass.

But have that back now, with this new version (and much better)

For me an the other hand, thought my hights has become much better.
Because my tweeters and X-over, are finaly getting good data in that area.

So I don't have to put extra resistor in there. (for months I have that on my to do list, but not anymore) good

My calculations were right, the problem was the source. (not really talking about xx, but all cr*ppy cd-players outhere)

Did some testing with a friend of mine last friday,
- full load pc and HDD, and listening to Foobar
- just Foobar
*- XX with full load PC and HDD (differences are hugh now)*
- and xx Unattended (at thist point I get a WOW from him, before he felt off his chair)

*CORRECTED*
502  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9y-1d ... wow! on: September 01, 2009, 04:19:45 pm
I honestly find the difference between Unattended and Attended has become bigger in the new version of xx.

Unattended has become the standard for me.

Have to say going in and out unattended has become much better (more understandeable, seeing xx loading files to C: is a good thing)

And when in Unattended you are still in control, because xx has become faster, so you in and out, just like that

Hope we will loose those other sevices too, because I think I can "hear" them.
503  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Create small pics for Gallery on: September 01, 2009, 03:31:39 am
Thought I'd put this here since I was thinking about galleries today... while at work ..oops.

Was wondering, (and this may not work Peter since I don' really know),,,, since the pics in gallery are copied from the original place, how about resizing the pics as they are copied to gallery to something small (leaving the real pic alone)... then the real pics in your real music folder only get called up when you view/click on them in right window pane or an album gets played and becomes a wallpaper.  Would that make scrolling faster? Is this a possibility?

Hmm, good thinking in the boss his time. prankster
This might be something.

Like the idea!

506  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / How To Make A Gallery on: August 31, 2009, 06:27:38 pm
How to make a Gallery:

It`s best to get all your pictures on your C: drive for faster scrolling thru your music-db.
This is done by making a GALLERY.

A gallery is a virtual music-db with only the pics and links to your real music-db.
In a Gallery are only pics and tekst files.

WATCH OUT for other stuff in your music-db, like .iso and other BIG files.
because all will be copied and you end up with a Gallery that is too BIG.

So take out those BIG files that donīt belong in there.

First of all,

- Resize pictures (only folder.jpg)

- Remember your hdd letter (eq. G:) this is because, when setting up new OS for eg.
You don't have to make a new Gallery again (just give your hdd the same drive letter as before)

- Make a folder structure the same way you already have with your music-db (somewhere on a drive, you can copy that to C: later, maybe keep it as a backup somewhere)

From now on we only talk about music-db and Gallery:

Open "Library" and tick the "Chk" box (right under) see pic:
Select a genre you want to make in to a Gallery (so select a genre folder in the tree-view)

Then select the first album in your Library (it becomes blue high-lighted)
Then press shift + arrow down to select all albums from that genre.
They are all blue highlighted now and have a checkbox besides the album.
Just tick one checbox to select them all.

Next Right click on the albums you have selected:

and select "add to Gallery"

Then save that to the gallery that you have made earlier

and do so for all genres.

When all is done, save that newly made gallery to C:

and in xx select "settings" then "music root" to select your new gallery on the C: drive.

REMEMBER, for now you can only make changes in the new made Gallery, BUT NOT IN YOUR MUSIC-DB (otherwise xx can't find your album anymore)

Just clicking on such an album won't open the folder.
You have click the triangular icon instead.

508  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Version 0.9y-2 feedback - B.B. King on: August 30, 2009, 04:05:34 pm
About the B.B. King issue ... can anyone provide me with a literal example, including the folder structure in use (a screen copy of Embedded Explorer where the album completely shows including the music files will suffice).
Also, what exactly is the problem ? messages ?

I just tried it, but all works. However, possibly I solved it indirectly via something else which by now has changed. Please use 0.9y-2a for it (a zip for that is somethere in this topic and at the bottom of the original 0.9y-2 download).

Thanks,
Peter

0.9y-2a, installed several days ago, but B.B. King issue isn't solved.
and its not only B.B. King, lot more albums with a dot in it.(not all)

AMAZING,

Really like that clocking of memory thought, really smart Peter (You Crazy Fool grazy).
So just loading music data on the memory and start clocking from there?
And writing your own drivers in SDK/DDK (its that or waiting for aliens to land, I guess)
Btw 24/384 needs your own drivers anyway

 ok clapping

Please take your time, you are already lightyears ahead of all out there.

Double clicking an image in xx, creates a copy of that image in the same folder !?!?
