Hope key will work,

Still testing here,
Will be solved this week, or throw all out.
Start to get a little crazy over here, it just takes too much time.

Did new OS install, and on the way installed AHCI driver.
Its working,

But not so important for me now.
Tonight doeing another extensive RAM test.

My PC is spread out over all over te floor
Disconnected everything unnessary.

And let it run overnight

patience is my middle name, but not for long !

Like 2 months ago, had something familiar, wanted to delete my xx Gallery, (on vista)
After deleting files are gone, but didn't get my space back.
Also about 10 GB of files
However, SSD and deleting, some work has to be done on this subject.

IMO W7 is more prepaired then Vista, to handle a SSD.
Talking about overall performance, not just audio.

But Peter, give W7 a try. really !
Vista and SSD, no good!

Can't give you a specific reason but it all feels more stable and faster

PS: days and days of running chkdsk, memtest and other diagnostic programs to solve my problems
yesterday had a faulty HDD, But I think thats because of faulty memory
Can't trust anything anymore over here. Have to get to te bottum of this.
First of all, making backups for now (some testing programs can overwrite your data)
But this comes with the territory, I guess, being on frontend of technology (XX in beta, W7 in beta, Vista not fully prepaired for SSD, SSD is new technology)
Only good thing, about it , is the knowledge getting out of this

604  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Ram problems on: July 04, 2009, 04:22:32 pm
finnaly,

I took my PC apart,
Because still having those BSOD 's everyday

And whatteyouknow - faulty RAM (this going on for 4 to 5 weeks now, OS could have errors too and have to check all my FLAC that I have moved around from disk to disk) Sad

But cannot exactly determine witch RAM or maybe MB slot
Want to make sure witch one is the faulty

When testing all 2GB Ram seperately nothing to be found
Problems start with 2x2GB (now having 6GB and everything is fine and pc is already running 24 hours without problems)

Is there a better way to test this then memtest.exe ?

And can it be that, going from 8GB to 6GB (memory adressed as "Flex" instead of Dual channel interleaved) sound diffferent.
Can't say for sure, but have the feeling it does.
Too short to say. (or maybe it doesn't)

Grtz

Yep, they leaked out the pre-rtm.
But I'm not doing a reinstall.
And the difference between the RC (7100) and the 7127 is not that much, I believe.
(more consumer friendly)

But don't you need a key?

But sure give W7 a try.

And what do you think will be the retail prices for W7 x64 ? Sad

607  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: How I tweaked my Vista virtually dead on: June 30, 2009, 06:02:03 pm
And about that slower deleting on SSD,
is only noticeable when deleting BIG files.

When lets say you want to play a heavy game.
I just load the game on the SSD and play from there.
(you will notice speed difference in there) - much faster gaming (but my LOGITECH GAME PAD Wireless drivers don't work on W7)

If you want to delete such file (8GB) you will notice a difference (but who cares) - slower

W7 has still problems in video playback
VLC player does not perform that well.
.mkv is playing good
.iso playing really bad (VHS is even better)

But for just XX, Superb.  teasing

W7 (Build 7100) on OCZ Vertex - Firmware 1.30:

To determine if your SSD supports TRIM, open a console as Admin;

Code:
fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
If the console returns a '0', your drive supports TRIM and it is ENABLED.

Btw everything works fine for me, turned everthing off on W7.
Like Peter said you don't have to terminate 'm all.
But I could'nt switch off the ones he suggested.
So l tried this.

With SSD drive its all there in seconds dont even notice readyboot on or off.
Its sure fast and really nice to work on.
Only thing SSD does slower is deleting (on spinning hdd it just deletes the position and data is still on there till you put new data over it)
SSD does this with TRIM.
But there is not much deleting going on, Not on a OS drive anyway.

maybe a habbit, but like to terminate and eliminate as much as possible.
And vista (or W7) asks for it (it starts with that UAC, who invented that !)

Can now say for sure W7 beats Vista on really everything.
Even my Esi Julia soundcard drivers perform better on W7
Am really looking for glitches an cracks.
But there arenīt any.
Not between or in the songs what so ever.

kept track of all errors.
but most were due to corrupt FLAC files.
Simply replaced them.

Works like a charm !
610  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Library Button on: June 27, 2009, 06:47:16 pm
Should you distinguish between the Library Button you have in the upper left conner, and the Library Tab.  I'm not sure, but was thinking maybe giving the Library Button a different name: 'Explore', 'Quick Find', ....
or call the Library Tab: 'Galleries'.   You're not too busy Peter,,, Jump right on this important name changing stuff.

Its already in the next version, as "Explorer"
More people have noticed it.

613  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: IDE vs AHCI on: June 19, 2009, 06:13:26 pm
There is a work around,
I don't have to install new OS.

(really must have a dedicated audio-PC soon, real soon)

Can not eliminate that much on normal work-PC

Maybe in my case get better multitasking results
614  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / IDE vs AHCI on: June 19, 2009, 05:34:51 pm
Just another Q:

IDE vs AHCI

http://expertester.wordpress.com/2008/07/24/ahci-vs-ide-%E2%80%93-benchmark-advantage/

http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?t=444831

Does anyone have experience with AHCI ?

And is there an advantage in it ?

Yes, using the resource monitor.
Lots of things going on there, I know.

Just curious, glad you already did the most
