106  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: RDC/2.06a Issue on: October 01, 2016, 12:05:34 am
Well, switched on W 10 services in XXHighEnd and all is well. Didn't know the Switch Off W10 Services button included LAN services since there's a separate button for those? RAM-OS ejected is no problem. Strange that with the Switch Off W10 Services button active the RDC would initially work and then it would stop working 5 minutes later.

Type of file is unrelated. It might be that I need to move the extender to a better spot but am limited cause I don't have a long network cable. Will try that on Friday as I'm just headed out of town till then.
108  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / RDC/2.06a Issue on: September 28, 2016, 09:22:25 pm
Set up a RDC connection using a Netgear Wifi Range Extender which is hard wired to the audio PC. Control PC is a laptop using RDC to connect to the audio pc. In XX settings the LAN and Persist buttons are active and were set in full OS mode in the base version and then rebooted into minimized then booted to RAM-OS. All seems to work fine and the sound, with the video card removed is great, however there are times when I hit play in unattended that the "shutting down services" message stays on too long and then I lose my RDC connection.  Apparently the LAN controller in the audio pc  gets turned off and I'm unable to reconnect using RDC. Having no control over the audio pc I wait till music stops and then have to reboot using the reset button on the audio pc. Not good. Don't know if this is related but it seems that it doesn't happen with redbook wave, but does happen with AIFF and HiRes. Not sure what to do.

Thanks Mani, looking forward to your amp thread. I recently heard an old pair of Aragon Palladium 1K monoblocks in my room --400 watts per channel-- and was blown away by the tonal balance, top to bottom.

Hey lets not go there! Thankfully, as you yourself admit, you could only be totally jesting and, therefore, not implying any kind of meaningful, real world "fact." Happy Happy Happy

Had a great time listening yesterday after installing 206a. Not a huge difference between it and 2.05 but, to my ears, a significant difference. A bit more glare gone and another step toward only hearing the music. Can it get even more refined?

Thanks Peter, just got it to work and, of course it was my error: it was creating and extracting into a NEW folder in the XXhighend folder so nothing was being overwritten. My bad. : )
113  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Installing 2.06a on: September 18, 2016, 04:01:38 pm
Morning Peter, am having a problem here. Every time I extract the 2.06a "over" zip in the drive c XX folder (tried 5x) apparently nothing happens because when I restart XX, 2.05 starts and not 2.06a. I am in the base version of 10586 and am not in minimised mode. It's strange because the zip program, RAR, goes through all of its steps wherein I make sure the the destination directory is C/XXhighEnd on my RAMOS drive. When I hit the extraction button I'm immediately asked if I want to replace a particular file and I select "Yes, Do This For All" assuming there are other similar files. Then I do not see the files extract  in "extraction bars" like they usually do when I extract files with RAR, so I assume it is finished updating to 2.06 but apparently nothing has been extracted? Either the download is corrupted or I'm overlooking something incredibly simple!

114  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: New PC, new sound on: July 14, 2016, 01:00:19 pm
These new settings are really worth a very long listen! I've been using the smallest SFS possible and now that all seems wrong headed with the new settings. The sound is much more relaxed and neutral. It feels as though my amp went from being 30w per channel to 200. Thanks Peter!

Hey Peter, maybe I missed it, but has there been any published price of the new PC and what might that be?

Thanks Robert, I was just clarifying the the HD HiRes issue has nothing to do with DBPowerAmp.
119  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Albums pausing on: May 11, 2016, 01:57:22 pm
For the 24/ 96 and 24/192 HD downloads, as mentioned earlier in this thread, the problem goes away by increasing the SFS. I usually change it to 1 and those tracks play one after another without stopping. Also, as mentioned earlier, one loses the benefits of the lower SFS.
120  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: RAM -OS files do not load into 16GB memory on: March 31, 2016, 04:54:54 pm
Hey Mani, when I first tried to us the RAM-OS I got the same message. I removed the ram from the mb and reinserted it into the same slots and it worked--no more error saying not enough memory. I have no idea why it worked but it did.
