Of course, we will do whatever is necesary to "keep up."  Happy

Q1=3 ? that seems impossible to me. Yes, with xQ1 at > 1.

Well, my xQ1 is at 1 and it does work, except for that skip.

Well, RamDiscs (OS and playback drive) don't seem to be better here. After some careful listening there is not much difference, though Ramdisc sounds just a bit louder which feels like a bit of glare that I don't have with music on "C" drive of OS disc, UEFI formatted.

Thanks Peter. I gave it a listen again last night and  Q1 soundstage was much better! Not sure what happened when I first tried, though it still does have a loss in dynamics or punch compared to my usual settings. I then changed the clock res to 5, not .5, and the dynamics were back but every once in a while there's about a 3 second break in the music. The settings I have been using prior to Q1 @ 1, etc. were Q1@3, SFS 4, Clock res 15, thread priority @ Real Time. These settings seemed best with the GainClone, but they turned out to be great with the tube amp too. They too are worth a listen, IMHO.

You can read about track 10 here:

Yikes! I'm certain it was a quartet, maybe EAC name is wrong. ANyway, hope you can replicate what I heard, or what I thought I heard!  Happy

Peter, I hope its okay to post the links above. If not delete! Also for the classical track, what I described can be heard in the first minute.

Well, I'm a bit puzzled. When I first heard the Q5 @ 1 setting it was encouraging. The soundstage felt "right:" Iwas listening to a movement  (Track 8)from a Mozart string Quartet and all the instruments were well placed and defined in space. Unlike with my usual settings the center was not overwhelmed by the far left and right sounds; rather the instruments in the center could be both heard and felt. With my Q5 @ 3 settings the center disappears somewhat. So I then A-B'ed what has become one of my reference tracks, Track 10 from Gianluigi Trevese's Midsummer Night Dream album and I had the opposite experience. With Q5 @ 1 the soundstage basically collapsed and the large wall of sound of a live music experience disappeared. There is no way I'd pick that sound over my Q5 @ 3 setting. Here's a link to the tracks:

Alaine, Peter, et al, batch file worked like a charm. After a good listen, I'll post later about SQ and Q5 in the appropriate thread.

Thanks Peter. Looks like I'll actually get to it first thing tomorrow.

Am getting ready to run Alain's batch file but am wondering if it automatically creates a copy of XX in one of the RAMDiscs or do I do that manually after the RAMDiscs have been created? If it creates a copy of XX on one drive automatically does XX have to be in a particular folder before I run the batch file? If, on the other hand, I have to create the XX copy manually, do I just copy/paste my current XX folder into the RAMDrive? Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Hey Juan, I haven't heard the Triton 7, but I think the II's are supposed to be their best speaker. Also, I'm not sure a GainClone would be best with the 7 because they their efficiency is 89db. The II's are 91db and I am playing most music between -16 a -10 db on XX volume control.

So my only chance would be to trust your ears  Happy

Yikes, trusting my 57 year old ears is something you must do at your own risk!  Happy Unfortunately, in audio, as in so many things, one man's roof may be another man's floor  (Thanks Mr. Simon.). But I will say that over the course of the last year I have listened to about a dozen very high end systems, and I always came  back to my system pleased that it seems to stand up to the "very best."

Yeah I have the speakers. It's a pretty incredible combo for the price. If your local stereo store has them you should give them a listen. One thing though, given the price of the speakers, they are rarely set up well at the store.

Hey Juan, on the small budget end I've found a BD-Design 30wpc gainclone coupled with  Triton II speakers to be an incredible combination. Not sure what the price of a new, special order GainClone is from BD-Design but the speakers are only 3,000 US. Here's a link:

Since switching to the ASUS mb, I've found the native USB3 mb port much smoother sounding than my Renesais based PCIe USB3 card. I'm also using a data only usb cable.
