Thanks Nick, you confirmed what I understood from your description of your build but I wanted to be certain. Am waiting to here how Mani's two Seasonic PS's work out. Don't know how I could accomplish that with a standard case but it would be nice to have the dvd drive and additional HD's plugged in.

Well, based on recent emails, it appears that my updated NOS1 is currently over the pond and will be in the Philadelphia area early next week. Can't wait. So that I can use all the updates of the upcoming version of XX, I'm considering building my first computor. The Core 2 duo, though it sounds great,  doesn't let me use straight Contiguous in a normal way. Anyway, am thinking I'll go with the Asus P9X79 WS with the 3930k cpu instead of the 3960X. The K is around $500 (US) cheaper and is rated as only being 6% slower than the 3960X.....if this is a mistake please speak up!
      Never having built a computor before, I'm wondering about cooling and "noise." I want to use a Reserator 1 v2 for the CPU and a Seasonic 400w, fanless power supply, as well as a fanless, low end video card. Given how XX operates is it necessary to have case fans to keep memory and hard drives cool? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Just wondering if anyone with a newer mobo with only one PS/2 connection has tried using a PS/2 splitter (they exist) to hook up both mouse and keyboard?

Hi Peter, as someone suggested above, do you now think you will test SQ by adding a usb3 connector to the NOS1, thus eliminating the need for an adapter? Just wondering cause I'm close to sending my NOS1 back to you for the "standard" upgrade, but maybe I should wait a bit?

Has anyone ever tested whether an igp is better for SQ than a dedicated card? As Coen stated above, an igp would use a lot less power. Is there any similarity concerning the effect on SQ between usb mouse, keyboard and a dedicated video card and PS/2 mouse, keyboard and an integrated video card?

Maybe next weekend I'll have the time to figure out what connections I have and what might work for a new "flavor," that is if my wife has no projects lined up for me. Spent the last two days stripping paint off a dam 1890's hot water radiater in the kitchen. Used some organic paint stripper that you wrap in plastic and leave it on for 12 hours or so. What a fricking mess.........

Coen, thanks for bringing this up. Yesterday I switched from usb to PS/2 mouse and keyboard, I also unpluuged my Hiface which runs to my home theater setup and got a really nice bump in SQ. As you noted a much more relaxed sound.

I think I mentioned this once before. It would be great as part of creating a playlist to have an option where you could designate the exact volume for each track in the list. That volume would be part of the playlist data and wouldn't effect how the track was played if you play the entire cd the track came from. For playlists, using "Normalizing Volume" doesnt give me the results I'm hoping for.

I think it was mentioned once befroe that this is doable? 

When rebooting doesn't reduce the glare enough, I would add defragging the drive XX is on as another way to reduce "glare" when it appears.

I saw this a while back. If you click on the episodes tab and then the "Most watched videos" link you'll get to the original videos. "Stand By Me" is my favorite.
