856  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: Phasure NOS1 vs. Pacific Microsonics Model Two - Round 1 on: January 03, 2011, 07:03:58 pm
You guys may find a fuller mid and bottom end by setting your sfs.ini to 00 and then reducing your SFS. Just a suggestion. Great to hear how the NOS1 compares to your Pacific Microsonics Mani. Has the NOS1 changed at all regarding upsampling 16/44 material?

We did talk about Night Train a while back but I didn't really get what the issues were then. Really appreciate both your and Pedal's replies. Anyone know where these recordings are honestly reviewed so that one can make an informed purchase? (Other than what is shared here  Happy )

Thanks Peter. I guess then that the Getz would be "hoax" material too? So, is it a fair assumption that unless a company specifically states that the high rez was digitally recorded as 24/96 or 192 from the master analogue tapes that its just an upsampled 16/44?

Pedal has recently written about how great the HD Traks 24/96 Getz/ Gilberto recording is and I don't doubt his impressions ( see:http://www.phasure.com/index.php?topic=1508.0). However, anyone have the redbook of this recording and done a comparison with the 24/96 version? Just wondering.

I purchased the 24/96 Dallas Wind Symphony: Crown Imperial from HD Traks and its among the best sounding recording i've ever heard. On the other hand I've also purchased from HD Traks Sam Cooke: Portrait of a Legend 24/96 and Oscar Petersons: Night Train 24/96 and they sound terrible. At this point I'm really hesitant to purchase more High Rez material. Just wondering if anyone can explain this?
861  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: And then there was W7 SP1 (RC) ... on: December 28, 2010, 09:16:32 pm
What's surprising is that its so good "out of the box" (no tweaks, internet running with all the antivirus, etc); it beats my somewhat tweaked vista set up.

Windows 7 SP1 RC is much better than original W7. After several days of listening am sorta blown away by how good SP1 it sounds! Is it better than Vista? May be a matter of taste but it has a clarity and transparency and warmth (sfs ini @ 00) that I'm liking more than my version of Vista. Thanks again Marcin!

I'm using R13.5. Maybe it's an issue with the update?

I got the Windows 7 SP1 RC release here: http://www.blogsdna.com/13301/windows-7-service-pack-1-rc-released.htm

The sound is great though I have not done a direct comparo with Vista....yet.

I have the full track tags with Z3/dbpoweramp, when I hover over tracks in embedded explorer.

Not a problem at all. Didn't know that's what the runnung ball meant. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything that was a simple fix. You, sir, take all the time you need. Its just damn exciting seeing you get the Phasure out the door to "customers" (perhaps even disciples Wink )with such committment to excellence.....all good things come to those who wait!
869  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 9Z3 Library button issue on: December 22, 2010, 03:32:59 pm
Sorry to have to ask again but did I miss something about the library button in Z3? Deleting the config file doesn't help. I still get an unhandled exception error if I hit the library button in z3. Using the explorer button or saved playlists works fine. Thanks.
870  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / 9Z3 Library button issue on: December 14, 2010, 01:27:00 pm
Don't recall if this has been reported, but I can only get racks to play with Z3 by manualy loading them with the explorer button, which is okay cause I have to do that to manualy copy them to the Ramdisc drive. Anytime I click on the actual library button I get an "unhandled Exception" error. When I then hit "continue" nothing happens.

Also, assuming Z4 will copy files to the Ramdisc in a way that mimicks manually copying them, is there anyway this can be done for saved playlists, so that when a playlist is selected the files get properly copied? Sure hope so.  Happy
