Ok thanx,

The realtime somehow did not work wel with the processor setting. Meaning checking it in system the speed there did not match the real time setting. Bios does btw.

2.2 is a bit to low i think.. PC suddenly freezes.  Happy

Will move it a bit higher.

Peter,

If i understand correctly the Ultimate setting overrules all the other Xtweaks settings?

Meaning it does not matter anymore what settings they have?

Thanx

289  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Underclock "XXHighEnd PC" on: March 16, 2013, 09:16:34 am
Peter,

Do you have any idear how low i should set it?

I now have set it from 3.8 to 2.2 GHZ (set in the bios because that real time program did not work wel here)

That works very much ok btw.

290  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Format Playbackdrive on: March 03, 2013, 08:55:30 pm
Peter,

Question:

When pc suddenly freezes the tracks on the playback drive is not deleted. They can't be deleted manually. The disk needs a quick format before it can be used as such.

Can you make a detection in XX that can see info on it but can make a format. Question ask before offcourse!

Hey Paul,

Thanks to you and your family, I had a great time yesterday. We had a lot to get through and listened to some great music along the way. This visit I was determined not take so much of your time but it was another 7 hour session. How time flys when i listen to your system Happy.

So a few listening impressions from our session. First thing to say is that I still experience your system as bout the most resolving end engadeing system I have heard. It's just sounds so right and makes it so easy to hear and make assesments of changes made to settings, DACs etc.

When we started the day comparing 09z-82 on W7 and W8, W8 was exceptionally detailed with excelant left right sound stage and quite good depth. The mid hardness of W8 was there but better on your system than on mine. I could certainly understand why you liked W8 so much bit for me W7 still had the edge over W8. Just. Everything was however not right with W7 it was too smeared and had a slight confusion to the sound. I think we used the word "impressionist" in the sense that it lacked the incisiveness if true life.

So onto the W7 tweaks.
SFS from 1 to 1.5
Q1 from 14 to 10
Remove the unconnected SATA cables from the PC mobo

Smiles and disbelieving looks all round from the first notes and W7 sounded FANTASTIC. Almost the same level of detail as W8 but with lifelike realness spark and dynamics. I felt i coud have gone for a walk in the sound stage of your system at this point - front to back left to right top to bottom !

Next some tests on DACs which we remain quiet about  whistle

Amplifier comparisons were extremely useful for me in pointing out a problem in the presentation of my gainclones.

And then a long session soaking up the absolutely beautiful sounds generated by Peters superb software and NOS, and your absolutely excellent system. What a treat !

A truly enjoyable and interesting day, many thanks.

Nick.

Guy's thanx!! Nice read and tips!!

I understand. I was merely trying to find a way to overcome the inconvenience of having to open the case to reconnect a player...

But as long as one is happy with the tool of preference, that is more important than the convenience (or lack of) of course. We rip a CD for a long time (I hope) Happy

What about a externe dvd writer\player?? I use that for a long time now.

Or do you think the quality is less with that?

Will play with some settings when i have time.

No errors about data ect..

297  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 0.9z-8-2 (Windows 7) on: February 20, 2013, 12:27:40 pm
Hi Peter,

I was just about to write something about my first experience with 0.9z-8-2, a little too late.

I have been following remotely (vacation, traveling) the news on Win 8, but never tried it myself.

I was just happy to get 8-2 up and running with no problems yesterday late at night and only played one CD (Moddi - Floriography).

What can I say - just terrific, hillarious, unbelievable sound.

More particular (with this incredibly dense music heard) you have achieved a very emotionally involving music representation. I am not so much focused on the last "bing" of a drumset, what counts more for me is the musical flow, the rhythmicality (? dont know if this word exists in English), the ambience of a recording room, the "physical presence" of instruments - all is perfect now, never have had my system playing at this level. Soundstage is huge, bass has right, precise contour (but not overweight, have to listen more double bass jazz music tonight to judge "crispiness"). Male voice of Moddi is at its best, focused, but not small, huge body and all details there, not analytical but integrated into a great representation of the voice. Channel separation is perfect, I might want to change the inclination angle of my speakers just to get a little more center, will try on the weekend.

And yes, I had this effect that you described above (like a litte "echo", just once, thought it might be on the recording but never heard it before because now I sensed so many new details. Good to know that there is a fix for it, my processors run at 75 degree with the current settings, so a less temp demanding setting is appreciated.

Overall: I told my wife when I went to bed: "Yes, yes, yes crazy Peter did it again" (actually I said "the crazy dutch guy dit it again"... sorry, its my way of highest appreciation for the piece of art you have given to us), I was totally in emotional flow about this great release (so far, just one CD heard, more impressions if you like after the weekend).

Thanks for it, Peter. For me it works.

Carsten

(sorry, have not yet updated my sig)

Peter,

I totaly agree with the above!!

How do you do it!!  clapping

Thanxxxxxx!!!!  Happy

Oh wait now ...

Apologies ! I assumed that you used it for a NAS.
Ok, this is stupid. I have to send you a new dongle.

And next ... well, all actually anticipates on the combination with the remote control, but for now I just didn't put that through just because it takes virtually ages to find out the best combination to have all running as should. But look at the WiFi-Direct "aim" and see it coming ...

Peter
Well if it is possible to have a new set of dongles (I will have one in reserve), just PM me about the price (I don't remember it) and I'll go through Paypal ?

But... My understanding is that BT + RDC will not be accepted with "Stop all services" - right ?

Thanks.

Alain
