617  Ultimate Audio Playback / Playback Tweaks and Source related subjects / Re: SDD for the OS on: June 24, 2010, 03:36:04 pm
Btw, I think that the SDD can be shut down just the same (which would matter for SQ then), but with the big difference that it will "spin up" very fast, so you could set that to 1 minute spindown time as well.

Peter,

In the topic "How i tweaked Vista virtually dead" you said this.

How can that be done? Down below they talk about 1? HD? Or does that count for all the drive's?

618  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SQ differences in priorities, buffer sizes and split sizes - discussion on: June 24, 2010, 12:01:10 pm
CPU Appointment scheme

In my opinion there are 3 settings worth mentioning; No Appointment, Scheme 2 and Scheme 3. Schemes 2 and 3 are musical flavoured and No Appointment is neutral flavoured. I prefer No Appointment myself, cause it's the most transparent. Scheme 2 has rich midds and delicate highs, good for vocal music IMHO. Scheme 3 however is more detailed in the upper area and with bass emphasis. All schemes sound better on a single core CPU.

Marcin,

How can that be as there are scheme settings that are made for splitting things between 2 core's? You talk about 1 core. How can that be different?  scratching

That was the next thing, run as admin.
So its solved now ?
Already building ?

Yes a first build. The ocz is defect and need to go back. That will take a while. No luck with this... But have set W7 on the 80 SSD. Will ask a new licence after i got the OCZ back. And have used my old PSU. The other one will go in later if it is allright.

So there is music here again.  Happy

622  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: new GUI! on: May 26, 2010, 12:12:42 pm
I will read your notes a couple of times extra first.

But ALL is slow, like a curtain of sluggyness fell upon xx.
I will elaborate in details later.

Why does xx places the XXAnalysis.dat file in the album folder I play ?

Yes when i read it it only shows HDCD-NO.

And where is the data map when switching on Logging???
623  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z on: May 26, 2010, 11:48:45 am
Peter,

In the tooltips you say somethin like set to 1024 and the Q1 slider is communicating with the sounddevice. Than it will show the right setting. Where can i find that???

 Happy
624  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: new GUI! on: May 26, 2010, 11:46:10 am
Telstar is right about about the sluggyness,
xx is very slow, to select and play an album takes ages, I really mean dead slow.
And when xx finally plays a track, it just stops when track is finished.................

But I sure love the looks and sound coming from it

I have nodiced things become real real slow when putting log activities on!

625  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z on: May 26, 2010, 10:36:25 am
Peter,

First the looks are really really nice!!! very good job you have done there.  Happy

But Special Mode does not work any more. Meaning lot of chraks tiks. Am i right and are the steps smaller when i set the buffer size to 4096 and like to fine tune with the Q1?

Before Special Mode sometime's played allright.

Adaptive Mode needs a higher Buffer size than before.

This is 16\44.1 only. Setting to AP i can't play anything anymore.

O and  just writing this the music stops before the song has ended. (AM)

(Building a new pc so things will be totally different when it's finished) ( I hope)

626  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: MB energy saver on: May 22, 2010, 05:45:44 pm
Btw dont use the setup disc that comes with the mobo, it probably offers you all sorts
of stuff you dont want or need, and they are not the latest drivers anyway.

Just download latest bios with @bios, it installs the new bios automaticly for you (but always check first)
So you dont have to flash anymore.
Download latest mobo and chipset drivers directly from gigabyte also optional is AHCI/RAID drivers.
Gigabyte also has green-lan, so if lan port is not connected it disables itself.

Better come overhere and I will show you all.
Its a fast PC so the install wont take that long, tweaking it takes a bit longer.
Maybe do some psu and temp testing before you put the final build next to your amps.

Einhoven Gekste!

I will let you now a soon as everything is there  Happy

 thankyou

Roy,

The HD’s and stuff came yesterday. The CPU cooller was to large so that has to go back. The Psu was delivered yesterday also. That was looking good. So only a splitter from one hd power supply to 5 i have to order on ebay.

For the rest everyting is there. ;-)

Gerard,

Were does this mistake happen !?
The GA-EG43M-S2H = Ultra Durable 2 motherboard design
The GA-EG45M-Ud2H = Ultra Durable 3 motherboard design

Hopes this solves the confusion, I gave you the right mobo discription, dont blame it on me. no

Its still a good mobo...........

You decide

Roy really i do not blame you what so ever!  Happy The seller said he had the UD2H MB but when i was in the shop i gave me the S2H. He made a mistake he said afterwords to me. He does not have the UD2H but the S2H instead.

Not that big of a problem, but this week i remember something Peter said so i want to be sure i make the right choise before i could not gave it back and buy someting else.

And when you all say it´s a good one i sure will keep it.  Happy

 ok
629  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: MB energy saver on: May 22, 2010, 04:18:13 pm
And with the applications you mean the cd's that are in the box?

Yes.

Quote
The box shows pic's of  Ultra Durable 3 and 2oz Copper btw.

wacko *scratches head*

Anyway, no mobo will force those features on you. Knowing gigabyte biooses, you can disable all of them at hardware level Happy
(Indeed i did that on mine).
Enjoy your new toy.

Well to be honest the plastic were the MB is in  shows those UD3 and 2oz pic's but that could be the wrong plastic from another MB.

So you say i should keep this MB Happy
630  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your questions about the PC -> DAC route / Re: MB energy saver on: May 22, 2010, 03:57:58 pm
Gerard,

Just DONT install any of the applications bundled with the mainboard and get the drivers (except maybe the network card) from the manufacturers.

The main difference between the two mainboards are the lack of the 2oz copper (the ultradurable) and a little slower video chipset (harder to play BD with it).

Thank you for explaining Telstar. It's meant only for music so i will use VGA i think and noting special. And with the applications you mean the cd's that are in the box?

The box shows pic's of  Ultra Durable 3 and 2oz Copper btw.
