Hi Peter
Well done with gapless play. Froma local a disc it is. As you know, still a slight delay with network. However, I didn't notice that XX had loaded with #1. When I engaged engine #3. I get the message shown, at the start of each track, although the track is playing muted in the background & becomes audible when I OK the message!?

Also
For all you drag & droppers out there. Having renamed the drive, create a desktop shortcut to it. Go to my computer, hover over the drive icon, hold down the RIGHT mouse button, drag to the desktop, release and select "create shortcut here" with the left button. One click & you're in amongst you're albums & ready to rock & roll!

Hello
You can, of coarse rename a hard disk. Instead of Local Drive you could call it A-I & the other one to J-Z for example. At least then you will always pick the right drive first (assuming that you know what you want to hear!)

If I might be so bold, I think your 2 issues so far have been "user orientated" (don't hit me!) The problems are neither XX or OS related. All this will be second nature to you soon, honest! To answer your point 2 above, connect the USB drive to whichever PC runs EAC that has an internet connection. EAC deals with the track names so you just need to find the coverart yourself, whilst EAC is doing it's thing. An easy option is Virgin or HMV, search for the album & right click on their coverart & "save picture as" folder.jpg pointing it to your folder with the appropriate WAVs in it. It doesn't matter whether you use XP or Vista for this & either OS will see the contents of the drive, albeit with a little more "eye candy" in Vista. As far as points 3 & 4 go, YOU don't have an issue. Just be sure to back up what you rip regularly & I'm sure everything will be groovy. One point for all, never turn off a USB drive if there is any chance that it being accessed by Windows. I once without thinking turned mine off during shutdown, next time I booted up the drive was empty (boot sector info destroyed) fortunately there is software available to re-establish this info, but it was not for the faint hearted! Now, back to the music.

Is it possible that you are using XX's library button & trying to drag from there? I have just tried & duplicated your problem. You must use Windows explorer (Computer\Drive\folder etc) & drag from there. I don't see how this can be an XX problem !? It works for me, so it "must" work for you!

Strange indeed, your OS seems a little over protective! Can you load it into PAINT & if so re-save it as a .jpg called folder? Perhaps it is in a different format that you have simply renamed .jpg?

Humour me, does your audio folder look like this...when you open an album, on the right you get a bunch of tracks and a coverart folder, click on it as I have and look at the info right at the bottom next to the picture. It says folder not folder.jpg  If you're the same you should be ok!? Otherwise I'll leave you to the maestro!

What makes you think that you've got a monopoly on all the problems! I don't normally drag & drop, I prefer to use the library button. However I just tried, there is for me a short delay between 'no entry' & acceptance of the track. Is is worth hovering over XX keeping your finger on the mouse button for 2 or 3 seconds & see if the cursor changes before letting go? On the coverart thing, my jpg's average out at about 10kb, yours not too big perhaps?(straw clutching!)

This should happen automatically, Windows defaults to hiding known file extentions(.jpg for example). So it already knows that it is a .jpg file, just call your coverart 'folder' without the .jpg (Windows is seeing folder.jpg.jpg). Then when you load up a track from that location you will see the picture too! I hope that's clear.

Hi Peter
My situation is exactly the same as Edwards having followed all the steps he has. Bringing up the message of my second screen capture above. The first capture was 0.9b as I said, which presumably was the result you expected from that.

"Must I conclude that you never got 64 running (hence just not tried anymore) ?
And that today it doesn't work anyway ?"

Correct!

Task manager shows XXHighEnd under the processes tab at 4056k of memory (although this varies slightly with each load up)untill I cancel the message.

Over to you
Jack

Hi
No problem, I'll give it a try later & report back. Misunderstandings are inevitable, think yourself lucky that I'm not trying Dutch! We'd get nowhere...

Hello
Firstly I am completely happy with XX on my audio pc with Vista 32 & do not need it to run on Vista x64, this is on my main pc & audio server. You said..."It would be nice if someone could confirm Vista 64bit just doesn't startup at all, and gives the message "XXhighEnd does not work anymore". Or that it just does work. Thanks !" So as I implied before if I can help...? I didn't try 0.9d (no need) but do you want me to? If so point me to it.
Still happy Jack

Hi Peter
I guess you didn't notice my reference to Vista x64 in my very first post... This is the message with 0.9b
