241  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: New NOS1 = ? on: March 31, 2015, 12:15:27 pm
Hi Peter,

Does it mean that the existing NOS 1/NOS 1a would be upgradeable to the "new" DAC DIY? That would really be a lot convenient.

How about naming it NOS Legend or Ultimate.

Best regards,

Arvind
242  Ultimate Audio Playback / Phasure NOS1 DAC / Re: More priase for the NOS1a :-) on: November 28, 2014, 08:44:10 am
Hi,

Just putting in my two bit on the praise for the NOS1a.

Being one of the later ones to go in for the upgrade, I got my upgraded unit only last week. So its obviously still in the breaking in phase.

To analyse the difference between the NOS1 & NOS1a....here goes.

General SQ: By far more clearer. Resolution is significantly better. Individualisation of the instruments is far greater. This is across the entire frequency spectrum. Soundstage too is wider & deeper.

Low Frequency: Significantly tighter & less boomy.
Mids & Highs: Significantly clearer & more accurate.

Recommendation: Those sitting on the fence should jump in & go for the upgrade, budget permitting of course. However a word of caution; this upgrade will expose weakness in the chain as well as deficiencies in room acoustic.

Peter: Fantastic upgrade really enjoying every minute of it. Thank you.

Best Regards,

Arvind
243  Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: Cables with BNC Connectors/Adapters Are Generating A Superoir SQ on: September 16, 2014, 05:56:37 pm
Hi,

I will check out the SQ diff between Nos1 & pre amp. I can't go without a pre amp due to gain reqd by the pre amp (as Peter mentioned) to drive the amps.

Probably a very stupid question; why can't the 50 Ohm coax cable be directly terminated with RCA. Why terminate it with BNC & then use an adapter.

Regards,

Arvind

Hi Guys,

Seems to be a very interesting discovery (if I may call it). Certainly worth attempting as the cost is very minimal. However for guys (like me) who are still using a pre amp,  should we go a step further & attempt to change the interconnect between the pre amp & amp too?

245  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Playback stops after 4/5 tracks on: January 24, 2014, 05:52:43 pm
Hi Peter,

While attempting to get the best setting on my set up, I changed the Q1 from 6 to 14 & Q5 from 1 to 5. The SQ is ideal for my set up & it also solved the problem of playback stopping after 4/5 tracks.

However I will send you the log files as reqd by you, if you still need it.

Best regards,

Arvind
246  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SQ of 1.186, best ever! (Again) on: January 24, 2014, 08:14:42 am
Hi Guys,

After a number of permutations & combinations with the Q  & SFS settings, I have arrived at the best setting on my set up as follows:

Q1: 14, Q3: 1, Q4: 1, Q5: 5.
xQ1: 1
SFS: 2 (120).

The SQ is very soft & musical, just the way I like it.

Best regards,

Arvind

PS: Peter this has also solved the issue of playback stopping after 4/5 tracks.

248  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Sound device changes unintentionally on: January 16, 2014, 09:40:50 am
Hi Peter,

Since 1.186a, I have had the following problem:
The selected device(in settings) is the KS NOS1 but many times if i change tracks or change volume (with hotkeys) the selected device shifts to Primary Sound Driver or other devices connected to the PC.

I think this is problem is connected more with my reducing the CPU clock speed rather than the XXHE version. Is this a correct assumption?

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Hi Paul,

I agree with you on this subject. I too noticed that reducing the speed of the cpu brought in harshness & made the music dull. I have gone back to the default speed & the SQ is by far better.

I guess this depends largely on the PC configuration/components.

Hi SeVeRed,

There is very faint sound from the speakers with XX at 0 dB.

252  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XTweaks problem on: August 26, 2013, 08:04:08 am
Hi Peter,

As Nick mentioned, when you start XX Time Stability doesn't show Stable. Refresh it & it shows Stable.

So all this while I assumed that you need to refresh at starting XX.

Hi Nick,

Going from Min OS to normal & back to min solved the problem.

To get Time Stability to Stable I have to click Refresh every time I start XXHE.

Thanks for the solution.

Hi VJ,

Unfortunately without a preamp the speakers can't be driven.

255  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: XTweaks problem on: August 24, 2013, 09:28:48 am
Hi Peter,

Time Stability is activated by clicking on Refresh. In my case it isn't getting activated. This doesn't require reboot.

Time Performance Index requires reboot when activated. However when I click to activate it, nothing happens. Normally it should ask me to reboot.

Best regards,

Arvind
