286  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Monitor shuts down on: March 17, 2013, 06:19:59 am
Hi Peter,

With 0.9z-8-3a after a little while of opening XX, the monitor shuts down & doesn't restart with Alt+X. There is no way to operate XX.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Knowing your penchant for perfection its only a matter of time till you figure out how to use both features together, without the loss of SQ.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

With the upcoming 0.9z-8-3, I hope you will continue with the remote control feature. Have got so used to it, would hate to go back to keyboard/monitor. Its the only thing holding me back from using 0.9z-8-2 (W7)

Best regards,

Arvind
289  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Playback stopped because data didn`t arrived in time on: February 27, 2013, 08:02:31 am
Hi Boleary/Juanpmar,

As yet I haven't been able to solve 3 issues:
1)Playback stops. I increased the Q1 from 14 to 15 & the stopping has reduced, but I still get one stop within 10/15 mins of starting.
2) Fairly loud tick. Within 10 secs at start of a playlist, I get a fairly loud tick. Thats it & it never occurs again until I load a new playlist.
3) Low level thump at Stop. This occurs every time I stop or when a playlist ends.

I haven't tried 0.9z-8-2 (W7) as yet simply because I am comfortable with RDC. Maybe it would solve some or all the above problems.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Jud,

The NOS 1 requires 2 numbers fuse in them. Specs of the fuse depends on the country voltage.

T500mA (500mA slow-blow for 250V) Supreme (a/k/a "Black")

This is the correct fuse for NOS 1 (230v), however the NOS 1 requires 2 numbers.

Hi Peter,

HiFi tuning, like most other fuse manufacturers don't make half slow blow type. It's either fast or slow blow. I have installed the slow blow type as recommend by HiFi tuning.

Hi Alain,

I gave a feedback to Ken Stevens of CAT for his preamp & amps. His reply was very interesting. He found the same improvement when he bypassed the fuse. Of course it can't be done at production level. He too believes that this could be the near best solution to the fuse problem.

Hi Peter,

I bought these off their stockist in US, The Cable Company, link http://www.thecableco.com/Product/Supreme-Small--20mm--75--Fast-Blow--F--Type

Being a German manufacturer, HIFI Tuning should have stockists all over Europe.

Best regards,

Hi Guys,

Wanted to share my experience with high quality fuse as compared to std fuse.

A few days back I replaced the fuse in the NOS 1, preamp & amps with HIFI Tuning Supreme Fuse. The results are outstanding. The harshness in the mids & highs is significantly lower...the sound tends to get more musical & has a lovely softness to it. Separation within different instruments is greater. Overall clarity is audibly improved without getting clinical.

At $ 60/80 a piece, its steeply priced, but in my opinion a tweak well worth it.

Arvind
296  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-8e Tick after start on: January 12, 2013, 07:42:34 am
 Hi Peter,

My USB 3 interface is on the Gigabyte mobo X58UD3R. The single tick has been around since the introduction of PA. The duration when the tick occurs from the start of play varies with the SFS round. The higher the SFS round the longer it takes.

However yesterday I changed the driver latency to 8ms (from 4ms) & the tick has stopped. I havent been able to put it on for extensive period but in the 30 mins yesterday, I didnt hear a tick.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

I am not sure what you mean exactly by "repeatable" but every time I click on play there is a tick in the first track. Output is 32/706500 & SFS is 2.

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Playing Anna Maria Jopek/ Barefoot album, XX suddenly stopped playing in the midst of the 3rd track. I clicked play again & it starts. After 30 secs or so there is a tick where presumably PA engages.

Arvind

Hi Peter,

With SFS round 1 the tick comes in a few secs. Increasing it to 7, the tick comes after approx 30 secs.

Hi Peter,

Great job with the 0.9z-8e, the SQ truly is several notch higher than the previous versions. Congratulations on this achievement.
