421  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: 0.9z-2 does not start on: August 05, 2010, 03:28:39 pm
Hi Peter,

I just played it safe & downloaded 0.9z & 0.9z-1 again & got 0.9z-1 playing again. I am not venturing to download 0.9z-2 for the time being.Hope 0.9z-3 will have a simpler solution.

Hi Peter,

I did too many things so I cant recollect if the 0.9z-1 is untouched. probably not. I uninstalled the Phasure OCX file from the Control Panel & tried to setup.exe from the 0.9z-2 folder but it gives the same message. Should I go about as a new starter with 0.9z-2, following the installation guide. Will this work?

Hi Peter,

Today I downloaded 0.9z-2 for the first time. When opening it I get a window saying "XX Highend has stopped working". So I went back to 0.9z-1 & surprisingly I am getting the same message. I really dont know where I have gone wrong!!

Hi Peter,

This problem has started with engine #4 if my memory serves me right.

Hi Peter,

This is since 9y, somehow I had forgotten to point it out. Sorry about that.

427  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Tick sound at starting playback on: July 15, 2010, 06:17:20 am
Hi Peter,

Everytime I start playback there is a loud tick sound before playback starts. This happens only during starting playback or when the next track is played using hotkey.

Regards,

428  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SQ of 09-z2 on: July 12, 2010, 11:07:53 am
Hi Guys,

Ever since Adaptive Mode, I have been using it & had always found it better than the other modes. With 9z-1, I thought let me try out the other modes, for comparison & I was surprised to find the Special Mode works by far better, in my set up, of course. The bass is tighter, the mids are cleaner, top end is about the same.
I presume it would be the same in 9z-2 too as Peter hasnt indicated any change made in this area.

Hi Peter,

The files are equal but they sound different. I dont know why, but this is reality. Try it out & see for yourself.

Actually, it is. But don't ask me when I will do it.
At this moment I am finalizing "normal" stuff in XX and working on the Phasure NOS1, and the only thing left (apart from bugs) would be the ripping.

2 weeks ago my wife wanted all the CDs out of the room (yeah, modern times Happy), and she offered to ripp all which weren't ripped so far. So I told her "wait a bit, because in due time I can do t myself, and it will be 10 times faster at least" (and good).
And so she is waiting ... (only a couple of 100 left to do).
yes

Hi Peter,

Just wanted to give you some input on ripping, which I have gathered over the last year. I use dBPoweramp as my ripper. Initially I was ripping at the maximum speed as suggested by dBpoweramp, then I attempted to rip at lower speeds (as low as 1x) & I can assure you that the SQ with lower ripping speed is significantly better than higher speed.

431  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: SQ differences in priorities, buffer sizes and split sizes - discussion on: June 25, 2010, 08:36:30 am
Hi,

I thought that using Adaptive Mode/Arc Prediction the buffer size should be set exactly to the buffer size of the soundcard. Isnt this still true?

My soundcard's buffer size is 128 & that is what I have set. Whenever I have tried to increase it the SQ drops. So in my case the initial theory holds true.

I am experiencing the same problem. Last digit of runningtime is superposed.
How did you solve it Arvind?
Cheers,
Eric
Hi Eric,

Frankly I have done nothing at all. It just works ok.

Very good, Peter.  I have latest version on both my computers, working well.  Only thing I have noticed (a VERY small thing) is the OSD time display doesn't reset the far right digit at each tick of a second.  The new number is superimposed over the last one, so by the time all 10 digits have ticked by, there is just a red square there.  This is on both computers.  I can live with this problem pretty much forever. Happy  Thanks for all your hard work.

Hey Glynn, I have a small problem ... it doesn't happen here ...

Can you perhaps tell me since what version this stopped working for you ?
I am merely thinking you installed some "monitor control" software, or perhaps general skinning software (on both PCs Happy). Can that be the case ?

Let me know,
Peter

PS: Did anyone else see this ?

Nope it works quite ok for me, at least.

Hi Peter,

I need to apologise to you, I have just found the problem. I have 2 HDD one has file format FAT 32. This gives the problem of not following alphabetical sequence. The other has file formal NTFS, which puts it in alphabetical sequence. I use the second HDD now & all is well.

Thanks.

Hi Peter,

I looked at the properties of the HDD & the file format is NTFS.
