46  Ultimate Audio Playback / Orelino / Orelo MKII Loudspeakers / Re: Optimizing Orelo Performance on: April 13, 2019, 03:25:28 pm
Hi Ramesh,

The Orelo’s, unlike many other speakers, really don’t require much of fiddling around with room positioning or toe in.

My impression is that as long as you keep them a min of 20” away from the back & side walls, you’re quite set. Having said that, what I mean is that whether it is 20” or 30” away, the sound doesn’t change at all. However the listening position should be where you don’t get bass cancellation from the rear wall. Highs & mids don’t change with different listening position, as long as it’s more than the distance between the 2speakers.

Toe in should be min, under no circumstances should it be beaming directly at you. Maybe a mtr away from the ears.

I’ve done my share of various FM/Bass DSP settings but eventually I’m back to FM all green & DSP as factory set. Works out the best.

No room treatment or tweaks in my set up.

My room size is 8.5mx5.7mx2.7m

Hope this helps.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Does this mean that those who have the 14/28 Mach III should attempt setting the cores to 12/24 & see if it’s better than their existing core settings?

48  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.10 sound quality on: January 12, 2019, 01:29:18 pm
Hi Bert,

I am using custom filter high since some time. Low is nice too. However I still need to invert phase otherwise something is amiss in the music.

49  Ultimate Audio Playback / Your thoughts about the Sound Quality / Re: 2.10 sound quality on: January 10, 2019, 02:36:03 pm
Hi Peter,

With these settings, I too find that the sound is not cohesive so I tried inverting phase & it brings the cohesiveness back.

Wonder what could be the reason?

No complaints as I’m enjoying the SQ. The low end is just super.

Arvind

Hi Ramesh/Peter,

The reason for moving the sweet spot back was not due to the sound being forward, my impression was that there could be some low frequency reinforcement which made it louder & consequentally drowned the mids & highs.

We do have the same set up but the room has its own play, I guess.

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Spent the weekend with a focus on reaching the original settings on the Orelo. Finally managed it with the following settings/changes.

SFS 80.19
Q1=30, xQ1=1
Moved the sweet spot back (away from the speakers) by 16”.

Some fine tuning still needed. Will attempt later this week.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Stanley,

It has been my experience, if your SFS is high, like 60.19 (as per your signature), you need to bring down xQ otherwise you get the problem of data not arriving in time.

Maybe you could try this out.

Best regards,

Arvind
53  Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: Blaxius Squared ! on: December 07, 2018, 05:27:55 pm
Hi Peter,

No, the bass output is currently lower by 1.5dB from the original Orelo settings as shipped out by you.

I doubt if any more breaking in of the Blaxius ^2 is reqd but I do intend to move the listening position to see if I can come back to the original settings of the Orelo. Maybe this weekend.

SFS & Q settings have not given the desired effect in the bass range. Hence I had to resort to reducing Orelo bass output eventually.

Best regards,

Arvind
54  Ultimate Audio Playback / Cables (Community induced) / Re: Blaxius Squared ! on: December 07, 2018, 06:22:45 am
Hi Peter,

From the original setting, given by you, I had to lower the bass output by 0.5dB, at the time I had the Mach II PC, Lush & Blaxius.

Now with the MachIII, Lush^2 & the Blaxius ^2, I was urged to reduce it further by 1dB (more so after the Blaxius ^2)

I find the bass overpowering & tends to subdue the mids & highs.

Currently my Q, SFS, etc settings are as per my signature, which are the same as yours.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

I prefer to comment once I’m sure that the SQ is consistent. Hence takes a while.

Incidentally I forgot to mention, in my earlier post, that after connecting the Blaxius ^2, I had to reduce the low frequency output of the Orelo by 1dB.

56  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Re: Can't get cover art in Tidal on: December 05, 2018, 09:10:18 am
Hi Peter,

The streams to be prepared are in the XXTT folder & then are moved to XXTemp folder once the streams are prepared.

Currently in the XXTT/Tidal folder only the albums (files) which I have accessed from Tidal are present. Awaiting my command to prepare streams.

The album names appear in the 1st pane of XXHE ( in the music server) but no cover art is visible in the centre pane.

Best regards,

Arvind

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the late response. Couldn’t find anything in that post related to this problem.

I’m sure nothing has been changed by you, since this problem didn’t exist prior to Sept.

It’s strange though.

No cover art visible until I select the album in the 1st pane. Pls refer to the image above.

Arvind

Hi guys,

I have been using the Blaxius ^2 since 2weeks & by now it’s pretty much broken in. The first reaction is the tightening of the lower end & significantly more clarity in upper mids & highs.

I must say that the SQ, in my set up, has seriously evolved over the past few months with the addition of the Mach III initially thereafter the Lush^2 & now the Blaxius^2.

Thank you so much Peter for relentlessly improving our music listening experience.

Best regards,

Arvind

Yes, I set it to 10/20.
60  Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd PC / Re: Phasure Mach III Audio PC with Linear Power Supply on: October 17, 2018, 04:05:46 pm
Hi Peter,

Is it still the better configuration(SQ wise) to operate 10/20 cores instead of 14/28 cores on the Mach III 14/28?

Honestly I haven’t attempted 14/28 since day one.

Best regards,

Arvind
