I ticked Log File & played the same track which gave the high freq static sound (no problem this time) but I could not find the Log data as there is no Temp Data sub folder. Could you help me with this?

It was in both channels & I doubt if this could be from the DAC & I do use the same DAC with my CD Transport too. Having said that I must repeat that this is the first time it happened playing through my notebook. Since then I have been playing again & it works fine. Just a one of thing, but it would be best to get to the bottom of it. Fortunately my volume level on the preamp was quite low, had it been higher it could have caused serious damage to the tweeters.

This has happened to me for the first time since using the 9y-4, last night, as soon as I clicked on play, there was a high frequency static sound, I muted my preamp & switched of XX, restarted it & it was playing normal. For a moment I thought I would blow my tweeters.

Has anyone compared the SQ between Qsonix Q 105 & XXHE 0.9y-4? I have a friend who has compared with his Mac, running Ammara/I Tunes & the Q 105. His feed back is that SQ on Mac is better than the Q 105 but the latter wins hands down on the GUI.

Hi Peter,

Detected a very strange problem today; while playing the album Dire Straits - Money for Nothing I got crack detect problem on only one track "Money For Nothing". All other tracks do not give this problem & the entire album has been ripped at the same time. My native files are 16/44.1 Wav.

The windows read as follows:
24 bit Second Stage Crack Detect -->22
88200/529200/40/5000000.

I tried to play the same track thrice & all three times I got the crack detect at the same time on the OSD track time showing 2.21.

I tried conducting the following Latency test on many different makes of laptops; sony/dell/toshiba with core 2 duo processors/3 GB Ram/Vista o/s & they all failed the test. http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml

How does one select a laptop with the certainty that it would not have dropouts.

I selected the Cover Art from the Library for 3 albums, right clicked & loaded them to the playlist randomly. Found many tracks dulicated in the playlist.

Hi Peter,

If I load a few albums to the playlist (randomly) I invariably get tracks which are duplicated. It can go up to 30% duplicate tracks. However if I load then without randomisation then it does not duplicate.

Hi Peter,

Unfortunately it is not an Analogue Filter but it reduces the filtering quite significantly. Though the DAC is 24/192 the USB limits it to 24/96 hence I cannot go to Quad. I am continuing with Double/Arc Prediction for the present.

Hi Peter,

Got hold of an NOS\Filter adjustable DAC & compared with my EMM Labs. The NOS beats the EMM hands down in every way. I tried setting XXHE with no upsampling & surprisingly there is no significant difference between double/Arc Prediction.

Another thing it seems there is a bug in the Cover Art area. Loading 2 albums or more in the playlist in a random manner, while playing the cover art changes with the track being played but the track  name (on the cover art) remains the previous one (sometimes).

Loving the sound of 0.9y-4.

LIVE & ALIVE, that's the only way I can describe 0.9y-4. Fantastic SQ, Peter you have done a remarkable job.
This is without having an NOS/Filterless DAC, as yet. Borrowing one in a few days to hear the difference.
