Book was collection of ideas & examples on building tube audio pre/power amplifiers, with god examples of various 'schools'. One of rare books well written in local language. His 6L6 integrated was positively reviewed by Jean Hiraga in (think) 'Revue Du Son'. Had cooperation w/ 'Teresonic' as well. And above all, loved motorboats and Danube river. Some pic from his book presentation

Nick hi,
Yes, am looking for good input cap. Reading nice things on ClarityCap MR series PP's but guess what: seems I'l be able to get few BG-NX 22uF/6,3V caps as well. Seems my old friend (passed away last Summer) left behind him some good audio parts, not only couple of unfinished GM70 power amps. His book was (still is) nice reading on tube audio gear.

Nik.d hi, Interesting looking boards, how is your build coming along ? Regards, Nick.
Hi Nick Sorry for late reply, spent 'long weekend' on Danube river with friends. A nice one. I'm a bit slow, actually wanted somewhat better basic components and ordered (and finally received) Bayschlag 0.1% resistors and some Roederstein elcos. Transformers are ready. Need only good 4.7 uF polyprop cap and final decision: to build separate cases or one as dual mono. This because I already use two sub (plate) amps. Adding separates near mid/hi section would eliminate long speaker cables. Old dilemma: long spkr cables or long IC's... Esp. when amp is constructed to minimize (spkr) cable influence Brgds, George

@stanrey Stanley, there is ImDisk Toolkit with which you 'll be able to load RAMdisk at computer startup. Link: http://reboot.pro/files/file/284-imdisk-toolkit/However I could not make it load two disks - similar to Dataram's (RAMdisk) free software limitation(s). Simple solution to that: Install & run both apps Dataram's app needs be installed while in full OS. There's no need keeping content (creating disk image) of Playback drive - it's content is emptied while exiting XXHE. Suggestion: As IMdisk is regarded 'better' or simply faster than Dataram's one, use Dataram's RAMdisk for XXHE and XXData folders and ImDisk for 'Playback disk' role. Back in 2011 it was advised to format this disk w/ smallest cluster - 0,5KB NTFS. George

Here comes another "Gainclone". Seen on the photo are basic building blocks of bridged LM3886 amp. Interesting (domestic) project using 'External Feedback' like it is used in any (serious) measurement instrument. With this concept, speaker cable influence on sound is diminished. Another advantage would be using such an amp with servo controlled woofer(s) - there are few on the market today.

Carsten,
I remember this situation while repairing friend's laptop. At power options for laptop there was separate screen/window for monitor brightness and dim while on battery pwr supply. Remember I could not move this "screen brightness" slider at all, windows content was hardly visible after one minute, all was dark almost like monitor is turned off. Re-check monitor pwr settings, put them on max, if there is dim option turn it off. All before going to min OS. HTH.

@Diede You are running music from USB disks. Please try and change computer power plan into this:
Control Panel / Power Options Down arrow on right side: Show additional plans Choose High performance / Change plan settings / Change advanced power settings Hard disk: Turn off hard disk after: '20 Minutes' (default, it should be OK for most but classical music with longer pieces)
One more power plan change: USB Settings/USB Selective suspend setting: 'Disabled' ---

Ultimate Audio Playback / XXHighEnd Support / Song title truncated if dot (.) exists

Hi Peter, One more "ToDo" for next version: Wallpaper left 'frame': If song title contains dot (.) text after dot is not shown. Narrow, bottom stripe shows full title. Know this was OK few versions back and actually three dots were "allowed" in title (before file extension dot)

I have seen subject message only twice until now and think it is PC power settings related, HDD power settings to be more precise.
Both cases: selected (some) album for playback but did not started playback immediately, due to phone call (today) or other reason (cannot remember first time, could be typing some mail). Pressing 'Play' button after several minutes resulted with no music but above message. Wallpaper was shown OK (playing unattended & min OS)

OK, annoying (& loud) startup sound solved - with brute force Booted into Ubuntu (Live CD) went into Windows directory and simply renamed two wav files 'Windows Logon.wav'. Perhaps it's enough to rename first file only (found in :\Windows\Media sub-dir) but it's time to install XXHE, not booting Linux twice Second file was found in foll dir: :\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_microsoft-windows-shell-sounds_31bf3856ad364e35_6.2.9200.16384_none_6fdc23973f4dcd1e

@mani Just now finished fresh Win8 installation, have found the source of 'problem' with always active Win Startup Sound: It's Windows 7 Explorer for Win8. Don't know if question/message about this to Tihiy (Ex7forW8 author) would help? Now thinking of booting PC w/ Linux live CD and deleting original wave file(s) or editing them into silence? There are two instances under \Media folder, both protected system files. Reporting further.

That was fast. Thank you Peter, all OK now. ... Sh*t.
And how many times I have to repeat: it is not Schiit, I'm proud owner of Phasure NOS1 !!! Coverart - below is the original (kB & pixel size) 'folder.jpg' that XXHE didn't like to convert to wallpaper. Have noticed in several previous XXHE versions, could be even z6, but thought it's related to my older&cheap but passive graphic card... BTW: give a listen to below album. At least in lazy Sunday afternoon...
